Flex Link 12th Car Prototype - Short Insight
The car is V2 of an idea I had on January 11, 2024 while out on a walk. The video is a quick description sent to a friend explaining some basics of the concept. As I like little snips of the "inside" of car development, I decided to share it with others who might be interested.

      No as the kit comes with a bracket extension to move the reservoir and line. It’s not a big move but significant enough for zero issues, even on long rides.

      I didn't have that at all. Make sure you are getting clearance between the tube and the throttle cam on the throttle body. I'm very careful in these areas to make sure there's enough clearance in everything to do with the throttle cable, as a stuck throttle is one of the worst things that can happen!

      It's a Vigor silicon wheel. I've had it for years, on several radios, and don't remember where I got it. I picked a bit of crud in the carb and the bike started running weird at low revs. As it was a hot day, I was wondering if the pilot was too lean and switched back to the factory 45 jet, but that wasn't it and i just cleaned out the carb to get everything back to normal. I left in th 45 and honestly can't really tell the difference now. Starting is similar with both.

    I have the same bike as you and right after I got it I went to do some trail riding and found out that the bike could easily get away from me with just the slightest throttle change. I was coming down a trail and my hand slipped and opened the throttle and threw me off the bike breaking 6 ribs, my clavicle, punctured my lung and split a six inch full depth gash in my knee. Since then I’ve put on the flywheel weight and the head spacer which helped some but it’s still too quick in 1st when I just want to basically idle slowly around obstacles. My old Yamaha TY 250 was very much smoother. Are you happy with your 10/42 gearing now or do you still want to go lower, maybe to a 9/42? Thanks!😊

    • @RC-Engineering
      @RC-Engineering 9 місяців тому

      That's a nasty fall! I have a flywheel weight and low compression head on the way, but I've been very happy with the gearing since changing it. I don't think it needs to be lower than the 10/42 now. What I've found is my clutch control has improved and I can easily control the low speed now with the 10/42. The goal with the low compression head is easier starting and smoother running with our lower octane fuel here in Canada.

    Just a heads up, I bought a brand new 2021 TXT 300 a few weeks ago, old stock so picked it up at a great price. Rode it once did, just over an hour, stored it in my garage with the handle bars hard right. Next day I pulled it out and started it up. Little did I know the throttle cable dislodged from the throttle on the handle bars and was resting on the edge, covered by the rubber boot so not visible to me. This effectively set the stop at about 10% throttle on. The engine started and just stared to rev its tits off. Not knowing what was happing , I twisted the throttle closed but didnt help, so pulled the kill switch on the handle bars and the engine didnt stop to my shock. About 10 seconds later the engine seized due to the piston heating up way faster than the cylinder. My dealer has now fixed it under warranty. Takeaway points from my experience The throttle cable is really short The throttle cable just floats at the connection with the throttle tube , I will be lock wiring that in place from now on. Do not rely on the kill switch to work on a 2 stroke, It must have been self igniting. Have a strategy in place so if this runaway engine happens to you , you know what to do in the 10 seconds you have before self destruct. Nigel New Zealand

      Ouch! That’s a harsh start with a new bike. 😢 Before I rode the bike, I went over it carefully. Removing the airbox, wheels, tank and more, I carefully went over electrics and cable routing. Everything was fine, but I’d heard about the throttle potentially being an issue at the throttle body. After carefully going over it, I didn’t find any issues. Also, since I was very young, I always snap the throttle before starting. It has to return effortlessly or I won’t attempt to start. Not sure why I developed this habit, but I’ve found a couple times through the years where I needed to investigate before starting.

    • @ledgledg668
      @ledgledg668 Рік тому

      @@RC-Engineering I don’t really see it as a massive disadvantage. It’s a trials bike. 1 to 4 are the only gears you would use in a section. (It’s one massive bog if you’ve got up to 4th 🤣😂). Then 5th and 6th are only used on long runs between sections. And once you get the knack of rolling right off the throttle going from 4th to 5th it doesn’t always crunch either. lol, thanks. I might have considered the new Sherco/Scorpa, but it would never be at the price I got the GG for. The more I learn about it, the more I’m loving this TXT!

    Why did you choose to go decha tube instead of the full airbox delete options like chimera or mmtnbox?

      For weatherproofness. I intend on riding year round and need the bike to be ok in rain. Plus I ride on dusty road at times and need that protection too. So far no water issues and even in heavy dust the air cleaner doesn’t see much. Happy with this setup!

    I hated the way the clutch line snapped as well. I just used a zip tie to move it away, but now I'll do the permanent fix with the Dremel. Looking forward to seeing some trials videos!
