Saw this live in 1997 in Toronto. In late 1995, this was a bside for DD from SG, used to listen to it on the greyound from Montreal to Toronto oh so many times until my Duracell's said goodnight. All in all, imagine this....
I'm embarrassed to say I've just heard it . I was playing Southpaw Grammer (2009 expanded) full album and this came on at the end. After all these decades of Morrissey listening, this escaped me. But this song..It just drew me. It's been on repeat all day, I have been playing along on guitar all day (tip of the hat to Alan Whyte). This melody has simply gripped me and won't let go.

One of the greatest lyrics/songs he's ever written and all his songs are above brilliant of course. The "cool sycophants " have dropped off him of course proving they never really understood him or his life's work. They just ebb and sway on with the next cool thing. Good riddance to those wanna be, try hard never wasis' I will be here.

I would love for this, and Blue dreamer's eyes (another incredible "b-side") to be put onto one of his new albums, they deserve it. MAKE US OUR FAVOURITE JAM NOBODY LOVES US
He's saying that Morrissey would have received a better response as a solo artist if he wasn't in the Smiths beforehand as it has overshadowed his later (current) greatness.
Yeah, just so hidden. But it's deeply embeded in me. Talk about hidden songs. Like that other B side from years past, How Soon Is Now. But that one does have the exposure it needed after all this time.
This song came to my mind seeing the ongoing riots in England. Stay safe, folks
52 and I'm still a fan, Moz.
I'm in your club, if you'll have me.
55 and been a Moz fan since 1984.
Ditto mate, only just 52. He's as relevant, if not more, today than he ever was.

Nobody Loves Us lyrics
This is a masterpiece. The best song about the working classes I’ve ever heard. Lyrics are genius.
I’ve always interpreted the lyrics as being about children and the misunderstanding from adults… I may be wrong then 🙁
It's pure poetry
Hey i'm super confused for i can not find the album on spotify,,, I know it is Southpaw grammar but it doesn't show on the album? If you use spotify could you send me a link to the song?
@@xanpo.calataEither Moz or the record label took it off the album when it was re-released, so it's not on Spotify's version. 😢
@@Jack78fr It's about being happy with yourself despite any external criticism or labeling.
If anyone needs to understand just how good Morrissey is - this was a B-side. It's insane.
B-side to Dagenham Dave. I had listened it alot when the single came out.
Moz has always brought me to tears.
Same here...!!!
and tears of laughter !
It's an absolute belter, I can listen again and again and never tire of it.
Never loosen the grip on our hand......
I thought you were Chester Bennington lol
@@therenegades7329 in that case, he will be the belted
Hard to choose… but could be the best Moz’s song … just sublime , can’t describe how it moves me …
possibly his finest song. I wish he would play this live.

Hug us hard Moz, hug us hard. Wonderful.
My fave ever Mozfather song.
Good choice😌

This song for me seals the fact that Morrissey is on par with The Smiths

Turns out..this is all he could do. Love you Mozzer
So much of his solo career would have been acclaimed as pop apotheosis if he just hadn't been in the bloody (marvellous) S****s...
What are you saying????????
He's saying that Morrissey would have received a better response as a solo artist if he wasn't in the Smiths beforehand as it has overshadowed his later (current) greatness.

Alma Matters is a rework of this song.

possibly moz's finest song in my humble opinion!
Yes, indeed!
Imagine this...
They're hard to rank
Finest period in his solo career southpaw grammar to maladjusted I could go with that but still hard to rank
So hard to choose but this is definitely up there.
Who would have thought that the best song of southpaw grammar era would be a B-side!
Yeah, just so hidden. But it's deeply embeded in me. Talk about hidden songs. Like that other B side from years past, How Soon Is Now. But that one does have the exposure it needed after all this time.
Ive got to find this version!!!
Born again atheist 🤭🤪😁
that shit made me laugh so hard
I used to sing this song with Ary and Syauqi. I really miss the old days when we were young and naturally evil.
a hug as a song
Ik blijf 'm graag horen. The Smiths, delen van zijn solowerk. Zo ook dit nummer, met zo'n typisch titel ook.
Nobody outside the mozza community knows this Masterpiece 😌😌😌
Maravilhoso ❤
Moz is a God
2021 and.., nobody loves us...!!!!! (who needs them anyways???)........
This and the song Maladjusted are the best reflection of hopeless working class British youth ever written (in my humble and pointless opinion)
Welsh to the bone.
