Jethro has a remarkable resemblance to my Buster. Buster was with me for over 15 years. He left on 11/7/13 and I still miss him terribly. Watching this was difficult but I'm still grateful. Thanks for posting this.
Buster sounds like he was a great boy. So sad they can't stay with us longer! Jethro is now 12.5 and we've had a few scares with him, but he still has spring in his legs and loves his toys.
@@cubbeezx They never seem to lose that. I hope Jethro is with you for a long time to come. It's never long enough but we all know that every day is a blessing.
He is handsome. GSPs are intelligent, loyal , obedient, protective and can run all day long when other dogs drop. Like to watch him running. My Sasha just passed, she was 17 and a half. She went suddenly in my arms and I loved her dearly.
So sorry for your loss...sure hope our boys live as long as your Sasha...you obviously did an amazing job looking after her. Jethro is now almost 13 and Oliver (his younger GSP brother is almost 10)...still think they are pups LOL
Great to hear you boy is doing so well at 14. You obviously take great care of him. Jethro is now almost 13 and his younger GSP brother Oliver is almost 10. Both still think they are pups LOL They are a great breed!
His eyes....are eyes of a human being, he thinks and acts as such...he is a copy of my GSP..."Gorgeous, strong Jethro, great hunter, awesome swimmer...." I guess this is how you entertain him after a full day in the field, at least this is what they need - in my experience😊💖
Loved the video, I have two female GSP's Mercedes and Lexi from the same breeder but 2 years apart. They have brought great happiness into my life, and although we don't have any children they are our babies. Total unconditional love from them. Best breed ever.
Glad you enjoyed the video. Jethro now has a younger brother..Oliver...they are 3 years apart. Seems like the breed is so contagious you can't own just one LOL We don't have children either and they are such a HUGE part of our family. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
I got my GSH from a rescue when he was nine. Watching this vid makes me realize how much he missed as he grew up chained in someone's yard. He is very timid, but loves me to bits. I love him back.
They are a great breed...will never understand why people have a dog and chain it up. GSP's love to be with you and are known as "velcro" dogs. LOL Jethro now has a young brother "Oliver" and they are the love of our lives! Thanks very much for watching and enjoy your GSP!
Thats horrible, especially for this breed(not that its acceptable for others) they crave human companionship and exercise! without either they can become a handful and not to mention they wont live up to there full potential. i recently got a gsp pup and i couldn't imagine leaving him on chain,as we speak the little guy is sleeping on my foot lol such a great breed im glad you rescued one!!
I too rescued a GSP at 12 months old his name is Louis beautiful majestic animated I love him to pieces. He is a good friend to my 5 year old GWP another beautiful and gorgeous lady!
Such a beautiful dog. We lost our 11 year old almost exactly 1 year ago today.. and every time I watch a video of GSP, it brings back so many great memories
Thanks. Brings back memories of Latka, my German Shorthaired Pointer. Smartest dog we ever had. The puppy years were tough at times, but altogether a terrific dog. Alerted us to a house fire, chased off a prowler, and knew at least 50 words or commands. Teacher her to jump over things was a mistake, because she started jumping over the 6' fence to be with local kids as they walked to or from school.
+Eric Fleetwood Thanks for watching! They definitely get easier with age...so much energy. Jethro has a brother now, Oliver...and he has even more energy. Sounds like Latka was a great dog...too bad they don't live longer!
Enjoyed watching Jethro and his antics. I'm glad we aren't the only ones who find our (Just recently 2 years) GSP incredibly photogenetic and video worthy :) Walks in the woods, running with the four wheeler, frisbee, snow digging, mountain goating...much of her favorite things as well. Handsome boy you have.
Grew up with GSPs. My wife and I have had two of our own, making a total of 5. Will never have another kind of dog. They are truly unique. Our Katie passed away 1 year ago. Still think about her all the time. Maybe someday we'll get another I hope. Can't imagine not having one in my life. Hunting isn't the same either. Thanks for the great video. Our Katie and Jethro have the same head and very similar markings, even the same toys for gosh sake.
Beautiful video. It's wonderful to see so much love and care given in raising a healthy, happy pup. Wishing you all many, MANY more years of happiness! ❤
LOVED THE VIDEO! GSP's are my favorite dog of all time and I've had several different breeds. Very intelligent, loyal and protective of the family. I had a GSP for 14 years (Gunther). Lost him in 2012. He was about 80-85 lbs. in his prime. He was always in great shape, we were very active. Great breeding. He came from a good line of show and feild dogs.
Great job on the video! We have two boy GSPs, the eldest now also three. Jethro is clearly loved and stretched by activity. We moved to larger property for them to play and explore in, under their orders.
Thanks! Know what you mean, they need to run. They are addictive...just after this video was made we got another one..Oliver! Hard to believe Jethro is now 6 and Oliver is 3...time flies when you have GSP's. Thanks for watching.
I never realized that Jethro and CK had participated in dog shows! That is really cool that he reeled in some ribbons! The more I see Oliver and Jethro it makes me want to find a GSP puppy to raise!! I have had Collies, Australian Shepherds and Border Collies throughout my lifetime and they were great companions too!!

Miss mine soooooo much. Greatest dog of many great dogs. If you get one you’d better be ready to give him/her a very serious workout two times a day at a minimum. They need it.
Such a beautiful video. My boy is 14 months, INKA. Oh boy, we still have bunch of training to do! He is such a love and such a stunning creature to look at, I can't imagine having any other dog. Wish I could breed him.
Thanks very much...Jethro is now 10 and still going strong...had a few scares over the years, but he is still in great physical shape and still so playful. We love the GSP's so much we got another one...Oliver is now 7. Such a great breed!
My GSP boy will be three this year.....happy, smart, rambunctious breed!!! I run him multiple hours per day bc the only time a GSP is naughty is when they’re bored. Amazing dogs for people who want to be outside and active
Thank you for sharing that awesome video! He is such a character. I have an 8 year old female GSP, Sadie. I love her so darn much. I've enjoyed many of Jethro's videos and look forward to more. :)
Sue Osborn Hello! Aren't they just the best breed...such character. Jethro has a brother now too...Oliver who is a few years younger than Jethro. Thanks for watching!
We love our GSP's. Jethro now has a younger brother, Oliver. They have such great personalities and are so intelligent! They keep us young LOL Thanks for watching.
If you are in love now, wait till he is older...every year that passes will mold you two together more, the longer they live the more melted they are in their family. I read in a blog that out of all the dogs you have in a lifetime, one will be your true love, the one and only - mine was my Dante, the one GSP I had for 11 years, He was The One for me out of about 14 dogs we had through a lifetime. Yes, they are very gentle in-spite of their incredible strength and limitless energy.
Jethro is one cute pup, looks just like my Lab mix Newfouland bear he also truning 4 too but not til decmber, great video give jethro a good pat on the head.

Remy my 3 y/o gsp is asleep on the couch next to me. He is my 4th gsp. You can't ask for a better breed for home or field. Jethro is beautiful! Thanks for the video.
Great Video - He is a awesome dog. I was going to bust you over the name Jethro until I realized I had nowhere to stand - my mother named her GSP Amali. Keel up the great videos and revisit Jethro now and then. sdh
They are very good with kids. We have a year and a half year old child and a year and a half old GSP and they love each other. The dog licks his face! ^,^
Wow made me cry i just put down my GSP 4 days ago. She was 1.5 years old, still a baby and got Cryptococcosis from somewhere. She was the best dog i ever had. Truly my best friend and i love her so much. She was my service dog and i feel lost without her next to me. :(
One of the GREATEST buddies i have had the honor to be with, saddest part was saying good bye after 14 years of joy. Learnt how to face life with a smole from my boy,his name was JETHRO also, suited his nature, a boof head. MISS HIM HEAPS.
GDP are so misunderstand by those that don't own one. They are energetic, loving, gentle, loyal and obedient dogs. You have spend a lot of time with them and they love to run. I've had a lot dogs but my German Shorthair Pointer could run all the others in the ground because that is what they bred for. Love the scenes where he is in full sprint. He truly is blue ribbon quality. Good job with him.
UPDATE: Jethro lived a full and wonderful life and sadly at the amazing age of 16.5 years we had to say goodbye to him yesterday. He enriched our lives so much and he was a special boy. Godspeed Jethro xoxoxoxo
+John Wilson Sorry to hear about losing your Buddy! Too bad they don't live longer...Jethro is turning 8 this year and Oliver 4...couldn't imagine life without them. Thanks very much for watching.
I miss my GSP, Chester. Reverse Jethro's Brown and White coloring and that was Chester. He knew how to sit, shake hands, and point at the mailman whenever he saw him (he was partially trained bird-dog when I got him as a stray). Everyone knows they are very high energy, but they are also a very CURIOUS breed as well, sticking their nose into everything, which isn't all that great if that thing is a porcupine or skunk as my dog discovered on a few occasions!
FANTASTIC!!! Are you successful in keeping yours from digging? Ours LOVE to DIG! Our backyard is full of holes. It's a huge backyard with plenty of place for them to run, and run, and run...with plenty of large, large holes that they have helped each other dig...or at least one digs, the other is the look-out! I rarely catch them, unfortunately! They are very sneaky! ADORABLE VIDEO!! It was great to see this video! If you have a girl GSP, she can be Elli Mae! LOL!! Love your GSP names!
Jethro is 12.5 and doing great! We've had some health scares with him over the years, but he is resilient and still acts like a puppy! Thanks for asking.
I see the posts are old here, I hope this blog is still alive: what kennel is Jethro from, please? I love that he is of the sturdier type. He is well built with strong bones and tight joints. There is another type in this breed, leaner, thinner, softer. May I know, please Jethro's "manufacturer"? Thank you so much.
Jethro just celebrated his 13th birthday and is doing really well. Jethro is from a kennel called Aus Dem Norden in North Dakota and they are still breeding wonderful dogs. Love this guy so very much!
@@cubbeezx Thank you so much. His expression is exactly as my Dante's used to be. I know he is loved because they have this look only when strongly connected with their human. Ever since he was a child he was spoken to as a human (I saw that in your movie series)...and that is shown in him. I lost mine last year and still dreaming the day I can have one the same. Jethro is almost a copy of my Dante. Thank you for the kennel info and "Very happy many years with your dear human, Jethro. You strong, beautiful awesome boy!"
Jethro is a magnificent dog. So many beautiful dogs, I would take one if each but I am not really set up for any so I let great owners provide wonderful videos.
My family was wanting a German short haired pointer so we looked up gsp on UA-cam and came across this video and me and my dad liked the name jethro so that's what we named our gsp
How cool! Not sure if you've seen any other Jethro videos but he now has a 5 year old GSP brother Oliver. Tons of fun! Here's one of Jethro's classic videos ua-cam.com/video/QjNw7UHWfm4/v-deo.html
The video record of Jethro reminds me of my GSP Jester who was a fantastic dog as well as my best friend . As a gun dog he was by no means perfect in fact could be a nightmare at times , this was not the fault of the dog but the responsibility lies with me for not persevering when he was a puppy. Nevertheless the pleasure of owning him far outweighs the failings in the field, on occasion he was brilliant . The memories I have are classic including the day he tore off the stubble field followed by the camo hide when pigeon shooting . He was ten years old and super fit when he suffered a twisted gut and never recovered from the operation, apparently deep chested dogs can suffer from this . They are a fantastic family dog incredibly loyal and a lot of fun...can be quite boisterous. RIP Jester .
Thanks! They are crazy dogs aren't they with such personalities...not sure if you've ever seen Jethro and the flower pot video we have made...it is hilarious and just shows how funny GSP's can be! Sounds like you do the same things with your as we do with Jethro and Oliver..they just love the bush, thanks for watching!
Thanks very much..we think so too, but we're bias! LOL Scout..great name! My in-laws have 2 chocolate labs, but they are quite a bit "girthier" than our GSP's...great dogs too!
Got me a little teary-eyed thinking about my GSP.
He was like my brother for 10 years

Thank you very much...love our Jethro boy to bits and at almost 13 he is doing really well and still loves to play and keeps us smiling!
UPDATE: Jethro lived a full and wonderful life and sadly at the amazing age of 16.5 years we had to say goodbye to him yesterday. He enriched our lives so much and he was a special boy. Godspeed Jethro xoxoxoxo
Precioso video
What a beauty!
Thank you very much!
what a lovely boy i have two gsp the old one is 14 and the young one is 6 i love these dogs so much
Same markings as my GSP Buddy. I lost him last year, he was just about to turn 15. He truely was my best friend.
+John Wilson Sorry to hear about losing your Buddy! Too bad they don't live longer...Jethro is turning 8 this year and Oliver 4...couldn't imagine life without them. Thanks very much for watching.
I have a GSP and his name is Chip. He is my second one and there is not a smarter dog out there. Great family pets and very loyal
I miss my GSP, Chester. Reverse Jethro's Brown and White coloring and that was Chester. He knew how to sit, shake hands, and point at the mailman whenever he saw him (he was partially trained bird-dog when I got him as a stray). Everyone knows they are very high energy, but they are also a very CURIOUS breed as well, sticking their nose into everything, which isn't all that great if that thing is a porcupine or skunk as my dog discovered on a few occasions!
my neighbor has 1 just like this 1, i think that's the next dog i'm going to get, they're beautiful.
Thanks, yes they are a blast, andt have TONS of energy!! Keep us on our toes!
Human + GSP = happiness!!! I'm a happy man!
Yes you are right...we now have 2 GSP's and they are quite the characters!
I hopefully will never be without one of these buddies
They sure do grow on you!
LOL!! Love your GSP names!
thx for this.
+Jabari Illson Glad you enjoyed it. Jethro turned 8 years old today!
Wow smart dog. How is he now
Jethro is 12.5 and doing great!
When I watched this video it inspired me to name my German Shorthaired Pointer Jethro so I did!!!!
Grace Belcher That's awesome..aren't they great dogs!
What a great dog!! My wife & I were thinking about a retriever... perhaps we shouldn't be too hasty!
Jethro is a magnificent dog. So many beautiful dogs, I would take one if each but I am not really set up for any so I let great owners provide wonderful videos.
Garth Downton Thanks very much!
we've got a vizsla called Opie...if we were to get him a brother a German short haired like yours would be great
he's a real gem...lucky people
+Josh Owen Vizla's....very similar breed to our GSP's...they are beautiful! Opie...what a great name!
Beautiful boy!
Where are you from? Northern MN?
My family was wanting a German short haired pointer so we looked up gsp on UA-cam and came across this video and me and my dad liked the name jethro so that's what we named our gsp
How cool! Not sure if you've seen any other Jethro videos but he now has a 5 year old GSP brother Oliver. Tons of fun! Here's one of Jethro's classic videos ua-cam.com/video/QjNw7UHWfm4/v-deo.html
The video record of Jethro reminds me of my GSP Jester who was a fantastic dog as well as my best friend . As a gun dog he was by no means
perfect in fact could be a nightmare at times , this was not the fault of the dog but the responsibility lies with me for not persevering when he was a puppy.
They are a wonderful breed aren't they!
Best dog.................... ever!!!
Harry Reid THanks, we think so LOL
He's a stunner!
I have a chocolate lab called Scout who's 4, and tons of people think he's a German shorthaired pointer :)
Thanks very much..we think so too, but we're bias! LOL Scout..great name! My in-laws have 2 chocolate labs, but they are quite a bit "girthier" than our GSP's...great dogs too!
