Congrats getting a role in S6! I was jumping in my seat when I saw you enter the scene when I recognized your hair 😂. It was awesome. I was trying to tell my friend as we watched because I showed her one of your 52 masters episodes before with the actor who plays Bobby. Congrats again man! So awesome.
Sensei Ford what an awesome special interview, I was a student of one of Shihan Demura students many years ago, 6 th degree sensei William Stoner who has passed a little time ago,I was in your friend Shawn class, at that time we trained Shotokan- Jidukwan, I still do train here in New Castle, PA and also train Anayan escrima as well for the last 20 years, we also still practice our katas, also in memory of sensei Stoner and Shihan Demura student 5 degree black belt, Bob K. Here in New Castle, God bless, thank you for your interview Mr. Ford
What an amazing episode and grand finale to this series! Congrats on this beautiful and truly inspiring work of art. Thank you for being you and taking us on this journey. I can't wait to see what you have in store next. Cheers!
This is great. My father’s instructor was Al Riturban who was trained by Dan Ivan. My father told me about his experience in California training with sensei demura back in the 70s. Sensei ford it’s very interesting to learn that you were Dennis in the karate kid 3. I train in karate today because of these men and I am truly grateful! God bless!
This series has been amazing and so much fun to see you study and interact with other martial arts. I hope you keep posting your own Karate training videos 🙏
my brother was a student in Santa ana when we were younger. He attended the dojo on 17th and Bristol. He loved it. However, he went into swimming and water polo as well and found doing those and karate got him injured and my mother made him quit karate. Even after all those years, even as my brother was ill with cancer later in life , my brother told stories of how much he learned from Demura Shihan. I ;m glad I found this site and hope Demura Sensei hears of this since my brother died of Renal cell Carcinoma.
I, Remember Him as a Kid at Japanese Village , I trained Under Shihan Dai Ron Glaubitz (Gosoku-Ryu) IKA Mexico in Tijuana in the early 70's and trained in San Diego Under Hanshi Minobu Miki ( Shito-Ryu) JKO and Under Our Soke Takayuki Kubota Gosoku-Ryu, you trained with us at one of Soke's Seminars Best Regards Osu!
Sensei Demura did a demonstration at an Aikido festival in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles in the late 1980's. His demonstration was jaw dropping to say the least. Sensei Demura was given an award by the Aikido Sensei's. I found out later that they all knew each other and they had great respect for Sensei Demura. I've seen him in several movies and if memory serves he has been on the cover of Black Belt magazine many times only out done by Bruce Lee.
Fumio Demura is the Sensei's Sensei. He was everybody's teacher regardless of the art, style, system or discipline. He was very insightful, knowledgeable and a very caring and compassionate person. He was a life long friend to the late actor Pat Morita. And was his stunt double in the Karate Kid franchise. As well as an instructor to Chuck Norris, Wesley Snipes, Sean Connery and many others. RIP sensei.
Sensei Demura learned Shotokan for a bit prior to his Okinawan art. I learned Okinawan karate (2nd degree) and then tried Shotokan for 6 months. While learning at opposite sides of our main discipline, we both didn't stick with Shotokan! At least where I went, we spent nearly the whole time practicing fast combos and back-and-forth painful blocking. One thing I admired about their training, which others do this as well, is their persistence to train through pain and develop their forearms into baseball bats. I preferred the strength, power, and form that Shorei-Ryu has, so I still practice that today (in my back yard and around the house, mostly) keeping up with my weapons and my kicks!
Nothing like the high tech movements of S. Kimura Shukokai! imo… Student of Sensei Tani and Kimura since 1986 I can’t stress enough on circular motion! Power comes from the ground! Not the body!
Wonderful production! Although it would have been nice to see more training, like in other videos in the series, there’s more insight in being able to talk with Demura-sensei. Arigato gozaimasu for this, Ford-sensei!
It was great seeing you play Dennis again in cobra kai
Seriously, Your fighting is so incredible. 35 years later, Dennis returns. This made me happy beyond belief. Thank you for everything you do.
