- In this video I go over a common problem that prevents my furnace from turning on and heating my house. If you turn on your Furnace and no air or heat is coming from the vents, try this out before you call an HVAC technician. I have to do this every fall when I turn my Furnace on for the first time or my furnace will not blow heat. Hopefully this will be helpful for you.

Thank you thank you…Just saved me at least 100 bucks…This was the problem…I oiled the bearings and is running smoothly 👍
Nice! I'm glad this worked for you!
Even while my induction motor is still working on my 10 year old American Standard furnace, I am replacing it. A heating/refrigerator tech suggested I replace it. Quoted me $1397 plus tax and trip charge. Seeing that amount, I ordered my own online. Same brand too as the original (Fasco). I will be installing it soon. He also suggested I change my temperature sensor. Quoted me a price for the sensor and installation of $201. I ordered one online for $6.97 with free shipping. That piece I did install several days ago. Works great. A 5 minute job. There is a moral to this story. 😂
Thanks for sharing
i put one on after it was howling so obviously shot after 27 years on my rheem, i bought it on ebay for $250 and 4 bolts to put it on, the repair guy that did a tune up told me it was shot ( i knew it but got the $59 tune up to make sure) and he wanted $800 for it in 2019, furnace still is all original except inducer and hose for pressure switch
Thanks!!! You may have saved me a tech visit on Christmas! Happy holidays!!
Great!!
Yes spun the fan with furnace on off. For 30 seconds. Turned switch on. Went upstairs turned thermostat up. Furnace fired up :) Thankyou 😊
Awesome! I'm glad this worked for you !
Thank you for taking your time to post the video, your trick work
Nice to hear!!
Bro Thanks for doing the video. I had this problem. Thanks from chicago. My fan was inside the grill. I had to use a screw driver to move the fan.
Glad it worked for you!
Thank you very much for posting .
Yes, good luck!!
100% worked for me, thank you
Very nice!
Hey man it worked🎉🎉! You saved me a LOT of money😅. I appreciate it thank you.
Good to hear!
I have never had that problem and my furnaces are 23 years old.

This was a lifesaver, worked after a couple attempts. There was something blocking the fan in my case and could hear loud clinking with either a screw or some piece hitting the fan continuously. It stopped the fan in first attempt. Second attempt i guess it went through after a minute... Many thanks!
Glad this worked for you!!
@@Myksgaragewhat exactly is this fan called? Just curious
@@lloydmacaya3311 its called an inducer motor. If the system does not sense that the unit can vent unburned gasses it will not fire up
Oh my goodness, time stamp 2:32 just saved me a boatload of money!!!!! You said to turn that fan. Every year you have to turn the fan to get the heat started again. I just tried it and IT WORKED!!!!!! It was in the 40's in my house this morning. So cold I didn't want to get out of bed. As I watched the temperature drop this evening I started to panic. A couple of spins and the furnace started right up. THANK YOU FOR YOUR WISDOM.
I'm glad this worked for you!!
OMG it worked thanks man you saved my 100$ :D
Awesome!!
Thanks yous saved our money ❤
Glad to hear!
Thank you for your bike unlocking video
👍
Thank you 🐱 👍
Thanks watching, hopefully this was helpful
Thank you
Sure thing
Thank you thank you thank you!
I'm glad this helped!
It's condensation. Between the heat when last used and cool air a little bit of condensation was in your motor and when it sat during the summer it rusted up the motor slightly.
That makes sense!
thank you
Thank you for watching
Good video. I noticed your stored buckets of grain. They shouldn't be stored near the furnace. Too warm. Dependingon the moisture content, you could get some condensation which can lead to mould and mycotoxins. . Relocate to cool and dry.
Good tips thanks
Great!!!
👍
Yes it worked for my gas unit
Very nice!!
Like 80% sure this worked for me. 20% it was turning it off then on again. But gonna say thank you either way!
That's cool!!
just wondering about the fresh air pipe just coming down without a narrowing area off to the side of the inner furnace, also the other exhause seems like it should go thru some smaller black pipes with the water tubes close by, the pipe is blocking the inducer motor and would be hard to replace without taking the pipes off, my inducer is sealed and i don't have anything to spin.
Yeah other brands may not be as easy to spin
I noticed the plastic rotation know had snapped off. I couldn't place it back on but when i rotated the metal it worked for a while. Can the knob be replaced or glued back on
I'm not sure if it can. You can replace the that fan assembly if needed
I had same problem two year ago. I used W-40 spray front and back wheel and turn back and forth few times and than turn heat on. after running about half to an hour. turn off switch and do it again few times. Now my furnace runs like brand new. At that time, I had ordered new blower thought that blower no good, but I end up that I don't have to replace it.
That's a good tip, thanks for sharing!
How can you determine which type of flame sensor or igniter you need? Just search for your unit model I’m guessing?
Smart to have spares!
Yeah perhaps there is a part number on your existing ones?
U saved me 1000 dollars
Awesome!!
I have an old house. I have a furnace that is barely a year old and the temp is 7 dagrees outside but my house won't warm up. I have windows covered, but the house won't warm over 50. My bill is almost 300 bucks this year. Any ideas.
does the induction fan turn on at all?
I’m wondering if all of your walls are insulated. On an old house, they may not be. You would also want to look at the insulation in your ceiling and under the floor.
What does it mean if the black circular piece is spinning, the heater cones on, it just doesn't supply heat out of the furnace. There is also 3 flashes of red light on the circuit board
Not sure what that could be.
Your manual will tell you what the flashes mean. Or there may be a list of fault codes inside one of the panels. The code will vary by brand. Most common diy issue is your flame sensor is dirty. Remove it and clean it off with a dollar bill or other slightly abrasive substance. Make sure your filter is clean. Dirty filters can cause overheating. If you have pressure switches with tubing make sure the tunes don't have water stuck in them. If you have a glowing ignitor make sure it glows during startup. If it does and then drops out before a click or ignition you may have a bad gas valve and need to call a pro.
Call a technician before u dmg somthing
Interesting
👍
Don't touch an ignitor tip with your fingers, it will cause it to fail. Check your capacitor too and make sure it's at the right capacitance.
Good tips!
@@Myksgarage My furnace is making a fast ticking noise. Any idea what that could be
Day and night is made by Carrier
Is it any good?
Mine only works during the day but not at night when cold
That sucks!!
Did you happen to find what was causing your issue?
Probably thermostat is set to automatically drop the heat temp. You gotta manually set jt
Our problem is it sounds like the heater wants to come on , it makes the sound like it's coming on and then it stops. But comes on once in awhile. So we don't know how to fix it!
That's frustrating, did you try cleaning the flame sensor?
@@MyksgarageNot yet, we live in a mountain pass area in California and it's quite cold here. Our unit is in the tiny attic and it's very difficult to get up there but my husband will see if he has time to clean it, between work and city council, and him being the mayor and church , life gets pretty busy around here. Thanks for the video my husband is a do yourself kind of guy and this helps. 🕊️🙏🏻👑
WTH... that worked...
Nice!!
Not supposed to touch igniters, the oils on your hands and fingers aren’t good for the hsi
Thanks for the tip
So, apin my fan and change my filter
Okay
Moisture in basement is causing the bearings to rot
Interesting...thanks for the tip
You have humidity problems in your basement. Probably unrelated to the hvac system.
Oh??
@Myksgarage Well, at least I had that problem in my old house. It had to do with poor drainage of the drain pipes to the septic tank. Blower would rust up and cease. It wouldn't be a bad idea to test the humidity.
the way you touched the ignitor made me cringe! thats a big no no! thing snaps easy then you are screwed. only clean flame sensor never the ignitor
👍
Your fan motor is worn out and probably dirty. The
For reals?
@@Myksgarage yes, just replace that motor. You can buy just the motor sometimes. They are cheap. Well the ones I’ve replaced where cheap. I think there is 6 screws and a couple connectors and the think pops right out with fan attach to the fan motor. Most likely a set screw is holding the fan to the fan motor.
Your outside air should come from outside....not your basement!
Please explain
It’s not working cause you got a garbage cheap brand get what you pay for
Oh well
This is a gas appliance. Call the HVAC Tech right away. Homeowners aren't trained to work on these appliances. Do one thing wrong and in case of an emergency, the Insurance will not pay up, because it wasn't fixed by certified technician.
👍
Call the HVAC tech? Who every time he comes there's some major issue with the HVAC within a month of him leaving? The people who used to get a private room at a diner I used to work at, whom I overheard talking about how to generate more money for the company by ways of deceptive practices?....
