Reading it currently. Transports me nostalgically back to being a student in Leeds (Goth City) in the 1980s, and the legendary Phonographique nightclub which played The Sisters of Mercy, Xmal Deutschland, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Alien Sex Fiend, The Birthday Party, The The, The Cure, Killing Joke, Cabaret Voltaire, The Chameleons, The Cramps, Wire, etc, etc. Halcyon days.
Got my signed copy! I love the video of you and John in conversation where you were talking about how you put the spirit of punk into your conservation work, how you've carried that attitude throughout your life.
Moving to Leeds in 1980 and working at the F Club where Andrew Elditch stood behind the dj decks, it was a fantastic move from punk to goth. Seeing the likes of The Sisters of Mercys first gig, the Birthday Party, Killing Joke, Bauhaus, etc, in places like The F Club. Tiffany's. The Phono and Uni gigs, what great times. I have to say though, Mick Mercer published some great books in the 80s, including goth and well worth tracking down
Typically, I got into goth a couple of years after Bauhaus (who I later found out were local lads - how about that, nobody famous ever comes from Northamptonshire!) and the Sisters had split up - for the first time, anyway. Been wondering whether to get this book or not, so Chris Packham has just convinced me to get it. The acid test for me will be if Gaye Bykers on Acid get a mention, even though they we’re technically Grebo, not goth.
So how it srarts gas Nothing to do with Goth(music genre) so thats waste of time & Siouxsie, the Cure, the Damned have Never had a thing to do with Goth originators of Goth was Bauhaus & UK Decay & their was some brilliant bands at start two mentionef,Sex Gang children, Blood & Roses, Play Dead, Under Two Flags, Skeletal Family,Ritual etc
Every time I come across either Chris Packham or John Robb through seeing something online they go up ever higher in my estimation.
Two adderall junky ladies still rocking away.
Chris Packham and John Robb...fascinating individuals and two people I would invite to my ' if you could invite anyone to your last supper' shindig!

Really wild! But shouldn't the book-cover be black, and Chris Packham be amongst the bats and owls?
