This is definitely one of the best JDM street drifting videos out there. The style, the music, the cars, the drifting... brings me back to 2000's gold era
The thing that I love the most about Japanese Car Scene is the fact that you can rice your car all you want and no one would even care. As long as you know how to respect each other.
Can we all appreciate the CONTENT here? No exaggerated editing, the song's best moments hit exactly when the highlight happens, plus the content itself is of very good quality (some of those drifts were perfect). Ty Sir for a quality content.
Seeing how the 90's Japanese car culture is still so relevant in Japan makes me very emotional. That was the golden era of JDM cars that has inspired so many countries even outside of Japan. Usually western cultures influence Eastern nations but this is one instance where the Japanese car scene has impacted the car culture in such a way that whenever you think of drifting, you associate it with cars like the S15, AE86, animes like Initial D, mid 2000's racing games like Gran Turismo which of course is also Japanese. Seeing that S15 in the video just brings back memories of playing games like Grid, NFS, Gran Turismo etc from middle school and high school days. One of the reasons we feel so connected to these tuner cars is because they're a platform. They're meant to be built the way you want, require you to wrench on them and think creatively. Not some over priced Porsche that you have to take to the dealer for the most simple task. What's the fun in that? You make friends through these cars, you get to bond with them by working on these cars and build memories. Sure you can just buy a fast EV out the showroom but that's just boring and doesn't inspire creativity. Everyone drives the same car built by the manufacturers and there's no variety. The beauty of tuner cars is not knowing what's under the hood. That's what differentiates a car enthusiast from a car driver. With the introduction of EVs and stricter emission laws, gas engines are going extinct, the art of driving manuals is fading away. Despite a lot of the 90's JDM cars being so expensive in the US I guess one positive I can think of is it's because they're being more appreciated than ever. Whenever I go to a JDM car meet or a drift event in the US, it feels like I get a taste of that JDM car culture from that nostalgic era without physically being in Japan. We're probably close to the end of the revival of JDM car culture and I want to experience and be a part of this drifting scene in Japan one day and hopefully buy my dream car which is an AE86.
