In this video I rode the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650, a modern Classic retro motorbike made and owned in India to Silverstone race circuit to put it head to head against the Moto Guzzi V7 Specifically the V7 Stone Special Edition!
The Moto guzzi in particular is a bit more expensive than the RE, but there are other Guzzi V7 models that are more comparable in price to the continental.
I discuss many things in my comparison like value for money, handling, acceleration, power and torque, performance, stopping power of the brakes and much more! And a sound test between both of the exhausts!

You can't ignore the price tag on either of these bikes and a budget is a budget. But the shaft drive on the Guzzi, the ease of maintenance, a bit more go and a bit more comfort make this the clear winner on a good few fronts. But Brexit Pesos aren't easy to come by and that is impossible to ignore when looking at the Royal Enfield. That is a lot of bike for the buck. And let's be honest, for a lot of riders, it's all the bike they'll ever need. I want the Guzzi, but if Santa leaves me the Royal Enfield in my stocking next Christmas, mum and dad aren't going to have to worry too much about me having a tantrum and storming off to my room in tears.
Every single time I settled on a cheaper car / bike I had always wish I saved and spent more to get what I really wanted. Now that is a first world problem through and through but my thinking is if you have means to save that extra $3,000 eventually (and you can get a barely used Guzzi for $6,000 btw), save that money and buy the bike you want. Patience pays off in the market.
I agree, being over 70 I’m done settling because something is cheaper. I will wait until I can get the one I really want, that being said, I think the Enfield is beautiful, but if I can only have one it’s an easy pick for the Guzzi.
Tough choice! I would not mind either one of them. I think I also would go for the V7 special though, providing the price tag didn't matter. If the choice stood between the Guzzi and the Shotgun 650, I am not equally sure...
@@cowmath77 My late father used to regularly state: "The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten".
He was also pretty good at hunting down a bargain.
A low miler that someone else has ridden off the lot would be my choice.
It pays to be patient when making significant purchases.
Desperate sellers have a way of finding patient buyers.
I spent months looking for my last bike.
Eventually a bargain came up.
@@stevemiller1203 Do it!
Over the last 55years I've had a wide variety of machines including: Honda CB500F, Suzuki GT750 2-stroke, Burgman 400, BMW RT80, V-Strom 1000, Suzuki Intruder 1400 and a Suzuki C90 Bagger. Now I have a V7 stone and I'm stunned at what a fine motorcycle it is. The seat is so comfortable, it steers and handles so beautifully, It's such a pleasure to ride on the open road or in the mountain twisties. It fits my six-four perfectly and no more chain BS. How could this bike be such a secret? It is by far my new favourite.
67yrs.... I find the Guzzi just that little bit slower turning in (longer rake?) than my T120
I love them both.... for all their querks etc...
V twin with a shaft drive and old school styling. It’s an amazing package.
It really is!
The only downturn is the digital plastic speedometer .......what a s. thing ..... but awsome bike though.
@@RenatoPinheiro22 there is a model with analogic dock. less expensive and with other colour...
@@Crismont22 yes ! the classic model with a plus .. chrome pipes !! tnks
The Royal Enfield is a true cafe racer. But if you want to go a little further and a little far from the neighborhood, I would go for the Moto Guzzi. It invites you to do a little longer ride mileage; I would say that the range is superior too, if I’m not mistaken, and in top of that, you have space for a pillion. The V7 is the choice here, for me. 👌🏻
I’ve done 10k miles in 11 months through 6 countries on my v7 stone and it has not missed a beat. Can’t fault it. Full of character and makes you smile even on a cold wet day.
Well, mine guzzi 1200 sport have 80.000km now, 30.000km in last 2 years, used daily as I commute 100km to work now, riden hard, never had an issue, I mean ZERO issues in last 10 years. But, they need proper care and frequent oil changes as they get older.
Owned 2 and all you say is true but soon you will find rust on the Guzzinif you ride in rain and cold a lot.
Gave mine back to the dealership after 6 months because of that...
@@punkrockdidiwho cares? Clean it off and get back out there.
@@mrpipps90 who cares?if you pay almost 10.000 euro's for a motorcycle and it starts rusting after a bit of rain,I care😅😂
Mine lived outside from spring to fall, for those snowy months I kept it under under little roof, no rust despite being riden on rainy days frequently... I live in landlocked country so maybe thats why... I've had nasty high speed crash 2 months ago and my guzzi is gone, but at least I was able to inspect everything and no rust
I'd say the Interceptor would be a better bike to compare with the V7, purely because of the riding position. Having said that the V7 is a full 200cc more, so the higher bhp and torque is a given. Great place to film, and good luck reaching a well-deserved 100k!
Precisely! The Interceptor totally addresses his concerns with riding position. With over 200cc more displacement with the Guzzi there had better be more power and torque. But you also get significantly less fuel economy than the RE. There are also lightly used REs on the market which lowers their price to under 6K. Plenty of bar end mirrors available for the RE if you insist. The RE will easily exceed the legal speed limit. The RE gearbox shifts butter smooth.
Definitely the Moto Guzzi, although like you I'd want the Special with the twin clocks. That Arrow pipe looks great too.
I agree, my V7 Special Edition would be great with twin clocks.
I've no idea why they didn't include them. This is the only negative I for this model ...except getting into neutral - sometimes ok, others takes many attempts!
I've added GIVI, engine bars, tail rack, Oxford grips and centre stand
I got the GT in Rocker Red and 2 hr rides are not torturers. Plus there are 2 dealers within 40 miles. The Guzzi just doesn't look as retro as the GT. I've put the bar ends end solo seat on mine- making it look more retro. Also I've added the S W Motech small Legend panniers and magnetic tank bag. Denali lights on the engine guards improve visability while still being under 9 K. If I had more $$ and garage space I'd definitely have both. LOL . By the way, I'm going on 71 and loving the riding position of the GT. 👍👍5🏍🙋♂️
The Royal is a poser and the V7 is the real deal.
Nice comparison. I owned a Continental GT for 2 years, and while I loved the cafe racer styling and attitude I was absolutely in pain after a 30 minute ride ( i am 5’11”). I tried different seats and nothing helped. I now own a V7 stone 850 and it’s night and day difference in comfort! I love it!
Thanks for sharing! Totally agree on comfort
The Guzzi you tested here is a special edition, but they've kept the prices of the core Stone and Special models pretty much the same since introducing them in 2021 (the Stone's gone up £200, the Special is exactly the same price) which makes them better value now than when launched. There are often deals to be had on new V7s too, especially at the end of the season. I've put 4000 miles on my V7 Stone Centenario and love it, to the point where I picked up a Mandello S in the Centenario colours two weeks ago. While still having the Guzzi vibe, the V100's a different beast altogether!
The GT650 seat can be changed to a touring seat which is much more comfortable for touring. 150 kms on highway without a break is cool. Without any bum sore.
I’d have to go with the Guzzi because I’ve always wanted one since the mid seventies when I was a kid and saw the Le Mans and the California
The Guzzi without a doubt. A work of art!
Much as I love the nostalgic look of the enfields... the moto Guzzi really does pip them on looks sound and grunt doesn't it
@johncranwell3783 💯
The RE 650 is one modern classic I haven't ridden or owned. Some Context owned and ridden (all of them for over a year and over 5,000km) 2015 Triumph Bonneville 865 "true parallel twin" (360 crank), 2016 Triumph Truxton again 865, 2020 Kawasaki w800 Cafe and now a 2022 Moto Guzzi v7 special. The Guzzi is the best by far it has a soul like the w800, the comfort of the Bonneville, performance like the two triumphs, handles better than all of them and a shaft drive!!! Also much better gearbox ratios.
Interesting enough the Guzzi frame is an evolution of a tonti frame a vintage racing frame and the RE frame is made by Harris performance.
As far as Italian bikes, I have owned a ducati 860, moto morini 500 camel, laverda 3cl 1000, cagiva 650, and currently have a 1989 Moto Guzzi Mille GT 1000 and a 2013 Moto Guzzi Stone 750. Have owned several German bikes to include BMW and Zundaps. Grew up with British bikes--meaning Triumph and BSA. Have never been interested in Harley. Owned several Suzuki's to include 2-stroke models and the Wankel rotary 750. The Moto Guzzis have been my favorite above all the rest. Quirky, reliable, tractor-like in that the Japanese "refinement" is not there--but if you love just being connected to machinery and sound--Moto Guzzi!--mike battle
50 yrs ago I was considering the Suzuki Rotary when I got my MG 850-T. Had a Mazda R-2. It was the 2 stroke 750 water cooled GT750 "Water Buffalo" that was a 750cc. I considered that too. Had many Hondas, Suzies, BMWs and the mistake of a Sportster - but none had the character of my Interceptor. My V7 comes close... only close
I've had Interceptor and Continental 535 GT for 5 years and the bikes are great. The paint job on R-E is better and the clocks look better than the digishite on V7 Stone. I sold them both for Honda CB 1100 but i miss them, specialy the 535 GT kicking vibrating goat. But i have to say, V7 Special 850 is amazing sexy bike so if i ever buy me second misstres, it will be the MG V7
I just bought a V7 Stone Special Edition!
Awesome, enjoy 😉
I test rode the Bonneville t100 and the v7 850, fell in love with the v7, marvelous bike, felt superior to the bonnie to me in every possible way. V7 special for me, best looking v7.
Nice review. I have a '22 Conti GT, and absolutely love it. I actually test-rode V7 before buying the Conti, and side-rocking is a show-stopper for me. I get why people like it, it definitely has a ton of character, just not my type of character!
I have done several 300+ mile rides on my Conti, and with the premium touring seat it has been great. Growing up on sport bikes and having decent core strength helps for sure with keeping weight off of the bars. Changed tires to BT46s, and it handles great stock. For anywhere near US $6K, I can't think of anything even close.
Also, stuff like mirrors, exhausts, etc. are probably the first thing people change. I wouldn't choose one or the other based on the stock parts.
Keep looking at T100 and T120 but something keeps pulling me back to the V7 - the Special in particular. I blame you! LOL
Hahah sorry! There’s something about them 😁
Get both: T120 & V7 Special Edition....I did.
Your only problem is which one to ride!!!😂
I’ve already got a T120 and am also picking up a V7Special on Saturday 😬 I’m a very lucky boy
@2wheelsG awesome 😎
@@stevet599 did just that! Leftover 2023’s. T120 Chrome when I want to be gentlemanly, and V7 Stone when I want that shake, rattle, and roll.
Keep it up with the comparison videos, they’re great.
They are very relevant to prospective buyers and none of the other major reviewers are doing much in the way of ‘verses’ reviews.
Good job 👍🏻
Got plenty planned! 😁
It's a No-Brainer, Moto Guzzi by a country mile. as you stated after a two hour ride on the RE your bum was numb and your wrists were getting sore.
At the end of a 2-3+ hr ride I don't want to get off the bike feeling like I've done a few hours having a Deep Tissue massage after a gym workout.
Another important factor is fuel consumption given one is slightly more powerful & slightly heavier, compared to tank capacity. For example the Guzzi might have a bigger engine and more power resulting in slightly higher fuel consumption, but, it could also have a larger tank meaning a greater range between fuel stops.
but with all that said I could not for the life of me walk past such a beautiful looking Bike' with that sweet note, comfortable ride, & classic Italian Heritage.
Moto Guzzi forever.
My STONE 850 model TEN gets 54 MPG on extended rides. Plenty of range. 67 HP is more than enough to get spririted. It is a several hour comfortable bike. The riding position is great for 5'10" rider. Light throttle is amazingly good over time. This is what a "fake" retro (modern inside) should be.
The shaft drive on the Moto Guzzi is a winner for me.
Sounds better too, just sad that the tank looks narrow.
@@angelsordemons
But it's bigger than many others... 21L (?)
Depending how I ride it's between 4.5 and 5 L/100km
@@stevet599
Righto my grouse is only that it doesn't look substantial.
@angelsordemons
Tuck your knees in! LOL
I really loved the Guzzis that had more "notch" where the cylinders are.
Most of the "classic" race bikes had "long" tanks.... rather than the round/bulbous shapes
@@stevet599
Yeah, and the v11's were nicely done.
100.000 Congratulations!!!
You guys deserve it.
Missing the Old Man in the videos.
Thank you! He will be back very very soon now 😊
Thanks for sharing your video of these two motorcycles. For me, it’s a compete no brainer. The Guzzi is not only the better motorcycle, it’s also worth every penny more than the Enfield. It exudes styling touches, has shaft drive, is easier to maintain and the badge…that is alone worth the extra.
There's no heroes on bikes for young people. Batman and John Wick. You had Steve McQueen, Barry Sheen, Street Hawk, Robocop, Motorcycle Ads on TV. When did you last see a motorcycle Ad on British Terrestrial Channels?
Finally a video that shows the best quad lock mount for the gt650. Its also good to know the vibration dampener works on the mirror mount.
Great review - good photography and nice setting. Congratulations on the 100k!
I own a ‘21 GT and it is a very engaging bike while riding. And it has looks to match. Also very comfortable all day for me (Touring seat) . Its reaction is so satisfying. a favorite after 45 years and dozens of bikes. It is a fantastic value, and with accessories and upgrades costing fractions of any other brand - value, quality, character = RE.
Thanks very much! Yes you’re right about that!
Still loving my V7 Centenario - just took it in today for its first service (900 miles) and can't wait to get back on it tomorrow
Hi Darcy it's mark from Wirral Merseyside 👍 i would go for Moto guzzi more so than royal Enfield GT. But i do like the Kawasaki classic retro bike which is out aswell. But great UA-cam video thanks from mark from Wirral Merseyside 👍
I’ve had the interceptor and the V7 special. The Guzzi wins hands down. Better handling, better performance, shaft over chain, more comfortable. Economy about the same. Hence why I sold the interceptor and kept the Guzzi. Congratulations on the 100k
Congratulations on 100k subscribers! Truly deserved. Love the videos featuring the GT650.
Thank you very much!
I have owned a Norton Commando and a Ducati Darmah as my daily driver, for ten years each through the 70s 80s 90s and noughties. Loved them both, and the Darmah brought that magic beat, but if I were to resurrect only one today, it would be my old Commando Interstate 850 black with gold pin and Dunstall rearsets. She owns my soul. Hence of these two, the RE speaks to me more of the fundamental draw of classic motorcycling: you look, you ride, you look again, you just can't take your eyes off her. You dream, you remember. Rinse and repeat.
Definitely agree re v twin sound👌🏻👌🏻
Glad you agree, it’s the best sound of them all 👌🏻
Great comparison video! When choosing between the Continental GT and Interceptor...I went with the latter as it just fit me better. With tank pads my knees can grip the tank properly which then unloads the arms completely by using my legs and core rather than depending on the arms as the GT pretty much forces you to. I DO like how the GT looks...but riding the Interceptor it's no contest.
Also comparing an 850 to a 650 puts the smaller bike at a disadvantage so a 'hot-rodded' Interceptor more of a match which is pretty easy to do with the aftermarket cams, pipes and tuners available to do the job. A good 650 will approach 60 horses at the rear wheel and also shed some pounds from the exhaust system and should be at least a match for the Guzzi.
I also have always found the Guzzi approach to motorcycles very appealing...but also enjoy tinkering and modding and for me....the Interceptor is the better bike. But....if someone gave me a Guzzi I'd certainly take it in and love it just the same.
I have both a Guzzi v7 2018 and Interceptor 650 2023, the Guzzi Is better all the way, but is rough, Interceptor Is very soft, I like both either but if I need to choose one, v7 stone III Will be my choice, better quality and more soul, love the transversal V motor.
Regards from México
Rougher? The V7 talks to you at idle, but is smooth 4,000-4,500 RPM cruise speeds. Easy to get that RPM in any gear or road speed. So the "roughness is the character and one that receeds when you want it to. Fantastic engine. If you want sterile, get the V100S, I have that bike too. It is stripped of everything except mile eating. It isn't really a fun bike to ride.
I’ve owned (still own the Guzzi) both of these bikes and both are absolutely fantastic! I will say that even though the V7 is a bit more than the Conti, you can definitely feel the difference in the pricing, as well. The V7 feels robust all the way around, whereas the Conti feels like all of the money went to the engine. Enfields have always had the best authentic styling so as sexy as the Italian bike is, the Conti nails the vintage styling, especially when you throw the seat cowl on it. As other commenters have said, you can’t beat either bike and I think people would be happy with either one. I kept the Guzzi due to a bit more power, the sound of the engine, and the shaft drive. I’m finding myself more interested in riding the bike when I have the time than spending it fiddling with chain adjustment, cleaning, etc. Plus, I do a lot of highway cruising and commuting so the Guzzi is the better choice for me to safely cruise at the higher speeds on American roads.
Great video and insight!!
Many thanks 😊
Just bought my first bike ever, a continental gt mr clean. It’s the bike of my dreams… But I would’ve bought the guzzi in a heartbeat.
its just better overall. But it’s also double the price tag, at least in my country.

2.Triumph Bonneville
3.Moto Guzzi V7
4.Royal Enfield Continental

Congratulations on reaching 100K. So pleased for you both, you deserve it. I have been watching for years and its getting better all the time.
Thank you so much!
You should know how to navigate using road signs. I use the Sun until i get within 40miles! 😂😂
The sound from the gucci has more grunt and roars that's rough and attractive immediately while the GT has more wishper and smooth sound thats melodious and soothing in long run. So it's up to what you like, weather you like the sudden wow or the gradual hmmmm nice.
I love both bikes but I have V7 in my garage.
Congratulations for 100k subscribers!!
Thank you 😊
Just noticed - you have chosen a very good location to show the rider's position on the bikes. Those vertical posts behind (8.40) show a clear picture for those who are wondering how they will seat on the bikes. If it was done on purpose - it was professional, if it was done accidentally - congratulations, you have talent) In general - great job! Very good review and a very comparing. You definately have the style, keep going and good luck! Thank you!
Thank you very much! The posts was an accident, but I did choose the location as it looked cool with the grandstands. And it’s around the corner from the Motoguzzi and royal Enfield uk press facility 😁
Congratulations on the 100k subscribers.
God bless. 🎉
Congratulations on 100k.🎉🎉🎉. Good review of both bikes and a tough choice for buyers. Both great looking .Although I am a big fan of RE, if money was no object, would probably choose the Guzzi. I happen to own a “poor man’s Guzzi “ at the moment. CX500, shaft drive , Vtwin, with the same side to side shake at startup. Cheap and easy to maintain. Love it. Cheers, Dan 🏍✌️🇨🇦
Thank you so much, sounds like great fun!
Great video! Thank you! I had cross-shopped the Bonneville, Guzzi and RE. I picked up the Guzzi, same model as in the video, and love it. I think the Guzzi has a better build quality than the RE. Love everything about it. Also picked up a T120 as well a bit later and that is yet another level up from the Guzzi for more power and even better build. Happy with my choices.
The level of production and the presentation skill you two showcase on this channel make it shocking that you aren't a huge channel! Much better than some of the biggest bike channels on UA-cam. I always look forward to hearing your takes on motorcycles!
Wow, thank you! Really appreciate it 😁
For me it’s the Guzzi, I had a 1988 mk 5 Le Mans. It was great.
I always loved the badging/branding on the Guzzi.. there's something about that eagle on the tank with no lettering that just looks so bad ass. Same as the story/history behind it. It's got to be one of the classiest logos of all time on any product. I've always had the V7 on my radar, but had to get a few other bikes out of my system first. Cheers to an awesome job to you and your dad, it's been fun watching y'all grow through the years.
I bought a V7 Stone Special Edition on looks alone. I also have a T120. Love them both but the Guzzi is a more authentic retro experience. The Triumph is a thoroughly modern bike with retro looks.
In a parallel twin, both pistons reach top dead center at the same time.
In a parallel twin where the pistons move up and down at the same time, the crankshaft angle is 360 degrees.
Congratulations on the 100K subscribers!!! Long overdue! Thank you for the great videos! Take care, and good luck!
Thank you very much!😊
We pay a premium for Moto Guzzi in Australia (over 10,000 pounds for V7 Special models) but I was lucky enough to find a used one in great condition. I also have a RE Classic. Nothing beats the Guzzi on start up but Royal Enfield also gives you much to smile about too.
I’ll add one of the reasons I subscribe is because you review bike exhaust notes properly! I’m surprised by how many reviewers that fail to include this.
Cheers from 🇦🇺
Awesome, many thanks 😊
Nice review of Royal Enfield and MotoGucci.I prefer Royal Enfield HNTR, Himalayan 450 because of its Trendy Styling and refinement of the New Engines of Royal Enfield 🇬🇧
V7's do exist in the uk I am fortunate enough to own a 2023 Guzzi v7 Stone (Lichfield staffs) - and can confirm it is truly a wonderful motorcycle. There is nothing else on the market anywhere near like a guzzi - They are in a category of their own - Quirky - yes! - Perfect no!. but constantly puts a smile on my face (but to be fair so does my enfield 500 C5 classic. Wasn't sure about the speedo at first (always liked twin dials) but guess what its actually pretty good and now love it!. I would argue that a comparison with the interceptor would be a better due to the higher bars etc. And which would I pick - well I one of them already and i have ridden the enfield 650's a lot and would confidently state that either would be an excellent buy and in the real world both have enough usable power to satisfy most riders needs! - I am actually planning to get either the interceptor or meteor 650 to keep my bikes company (or may even go for the Himalayan).
V7 Special would be my choice. Just awesome.
Out of the two i like the look of the RE but id go for the Guzzi. Better specs, more character and theyve cone a long way in terms of reliability in the past 5 years even.
A review of the V9 Bobber or Roamer against the V7 Special would be a good review to do next 😘
I discovered that the front forks and rear shocks took almost 3000 miles to properly bed in on my 2019 Continental GT and become supple.
Handling was much improved.
At the start both front and back but especially front felt harsh and particularly crude.
I wonder how many riders have upgraded these components before letting the miles kind of macerate them?
Also, that riding stance is "sitting up prone" rather than the proper clip on and rear set of a traditional Cafe Racer, which is a particularly uncomfortable and tiring seating position.
@@simoncaddick9085 I agree. The position is Cafe Racer Lite.
I'm 55 with a lower back injury and I've done two hour runs on my Conti without discomfort.
The only time I get a problem with it is within the first mile from cold because my hips twinge. Nothing else, just my hips but after a mile they're warm and stretched and I don't get any issues at all.
Both are lovely. I own a 77 Triumph Bonneville so I already have a classic bike. Based on that, I much prefer the more modern look of the V7 Stone SE. (so much so, I baught one 😎)

Like both m/cs . But as a long term owner of several guzzis I'm a bit biased. Special is most beautiful m/c on planet.
However I do like all RE models. Just wish RE would bring out a 500 single like the HNTR or Bullet. Come on RE.
I want one for my collection.
I recently tested an Interceptor, and after literally less than 5 minutes i thought how uncomfortable the seat is!
Now I am a very very proud owner of a V7 Special Edition. Hey, what a bike!
I’ve got to say the Guzzi is the better bike as I own the SE model Big smiles every time I ride, iti The arrow exhausts and the gloss black & red tank just look stunning Every where go someone wants a chat The RE is also a very nice motorcycle and proper retro
Fantastic presentation of these two lovely bikes, Darcy 👍
My 👍 as well as comment are well deserved for your top notch quality work, mate.
As for what I would like to add to my garage?
That one with traditional tach/speedo 🤷
Thanks so much, yes I think you’re right about that!
@@MrDarcy-OlMan the really fantastic thing: we riders do have so many choices to pick from, that almost every desire gets satisfied, one way or another.
My younger brother got a ZH2 (for the endless power, which he's able to handle), I got myself a Z900RS (for its watches, which are practically identical to those of my Z900 of the late '70s) 🤷
Keep up God's good work by mercilessly presenting such interesting bikes.
BTW, looking forward to VDOs together with the Ol'Man and you, Darcy!
100K subscribers! Nice one (and thoroughly deserved)!
The guzzi,it looks fantastic,I just wish the twin dials were fitted to both the stone & the special edition.
While I have a Triumph Speed Twin 1200, 2023 model, I seriously looked at the Moto Guzzi V7 stone in the silver and green paint scheme and my word wasn't it close to being my garage joy, but I just wanted that little bit of extra power underneath me.
Great comparison though, I don't think there are 2 "modern retro" bikes out there that are as evenly matched as these two nostalgia machines.
Love your vids Darcy and I'm looking forward to seeing a bike comparison in the future where both you and the old man fight it out with your opinions on a pair of similarly matched machines.
Moto Guzzi are such peaces of machinery that I'm still to meet someone that kept one for more than 2 years
For anyone that are looking for a quad lock options for their GT but have removed the ugly stock mirrors, you can get the Brake reservoir mount. Cheers
I would like a Guzzi but the Enfield does look better. Real classic.
The Guzzi, preferably the Special version with twin clocks and spoked wheels.
👌🏻👌🏻
I wasn't considering moto guzzi until your reviews. In my opinion the gt is the best looking bike in royal Enfield's lineup. It isn't the one I would buy, however. I'm waiting for a classic 650 to be born.
The Guzzi, I love the side to side it was doing from the sound check. Damn I feel the need to ride one of those now!
As a "back to biker" I went for the RE Interceptor 650 that ticked all the boxes had it for a several months, then road tested the MG V7 Stone!
(Just to add the V7 was on my short list but was outside of my budget at the time)
However, the moment i sat on the MG V7 and started that transverse V twin engine it took me to a new dimension!
The RE is now sold with the MG V7 now on order....
Wow that says a lot I think. There really is something about that V twin!
I love the V7 but down here in NZ, it's 50% more $$ for the Stone and you could probably stick an 865 kit on the Conti for that money. They get a bit more comparable on the used market though, if you're prepared to go with a V7 II 750.
This was a great comparison...Overall, it seems like the Moto Guzzi V7 Stone SE is the clear winner for you, but I always go with my all-time favorite bike RE GT 650. Thanks for the informative video bro
The Guzzi is, in no doubt the better bike in every way imaginable. But with the V7 priced at 12k and the Int650 at 8k.. I know what I'm taking.
When I bought my Virago 1100 a few years back I decided, I will never again buy a bike without a shaft drive!😃👌
So Moto Guzzi for me, but I would go for the more classic looking V7 Special.
After hearing a V7 850 with a Mistral short exhaust, you will never touch one with a standard exhaust again....trust me, I own one.😂😂❤🔥
Spot on with your conclusions Darcy.. I’d choose the V7 Special over either of these purely on looks, power and sound.. both of these have small compromises to finish and price that would niggle after 6 months ownership.. not so the V7 Special..
Clearly, the Guzzi is more comfortable from easy entry/egress, relaxed, upright seating position to having lots of character!
Limited to 1/2 hour rides (wrists/bum) on the Conti GT 650 & a less supple ride. Hmmm, looks are different but- equally unique. Guzzi, anyone!
I tried both Interceptor and V7. And the T120.
I definitively prefer the Moto Guzzi. This bike is alive!
I’m 5.5, the V7 is better for short riders.
Congrats for the 100k !!!
Thank you 😊
I likes these bikes a lot but as with all the nakeds and retros....I just wish these beautiful bikes were bigger. They are all quite small, from the RE to the Z650RS to the Guzzi V7 and even the Bonneville, wish they had a bit more size and higher seat height would be nice too. I like a retro touring bike or retro adventure. Like a Guzzi V85TT.
Having seen a few Royal Enfield videos, most owners are changing exhausts and other parts. Some even going to a big bore kit, just to liven it up. For me, I would rather go straight for the Moto Guzzi.
The gt 650 looks really gr8 specially the chrome silver one but the only prob occurs is its riding position but I guess its in most cafe racers
Lovely review.
I'd go 🇮🇹 too...
🍻
Nice work Darcy… I’m with you - the Guzzi sets the pulse racing, what a pedigree beauty. 👍❤️😎✅
It really is!
Im a big Royal Enfield fanboy but man that Guzzi is just step above. The way it rumbles when its revved is just amazing. Continental GT is really good for its price as well but i cant get over how good that guzzi looks and feels.
No, sorry but the Guzzi has less Provenance than Royal Enfield, and these models are different Capacities?
You can't compare them anyway?
@@paulfoster5432 ????? Stop writing nonsense when you have no clue. less poroverance about a brand which build bikes since more than 100 years nonstop in the same place....
Congratulations 🎉 on 100k! from Erie, Pennsylvania. 😊 I bought a 1k mile 2021 V7 Stone in Arancione Rame (Orange Copper) and like McD’s: I’m lovin’ it! It had the Mistral exhausts already on it. What a sound!
Thanks very much. Sounds fantastic 😁
Six months ago when I wanted a new bike I had the same decision to make, went first to a RE dealer and I really enjoyed the interceptor... Then I went to the italian dealer MG and saw and olive green V7 Stone with a just a few thousands and I just couldnt resist, bought it right away! There is something special about these bikes, mainly due to the engines, the beautiful fuel tank design, the torque and exclusivity of the brand, both are head turners but I feel like the Guzzi its more exquisite 🔥
You are going to far exceed 100k. Keep up the great work.
Thanks so much!!
Guzzi v7 850 special edition!
I have one alongside my 2020 T120.
Apart from childhood dreams of a Guzzi, shaft drive, tubeless tyres, etc.... it's a winner.
I've done 450km days, but that's enough on the Guzzi. The T120, I can do +650km days and not too bad afterwards! (...Corbin seat!). Overall the T120 is a great bike. The Guzzi is, as you say, for the character... which comes in bucketfulls! It makes all sorts of noises , whines, clicks, rattles... dry clutch... if it was one my previous Hondas I would be concerned 😟.... apparently all this is normal.
After the "break in" period the bike seems to get better the more miles you put on it! Now at 5k km. The T120 has 43k km
...and going strong as well - new chains, tubed tyres.... PITA to check valves etc. So far, the Guzzi has been easy to maintain.
FYI - I'm in NW British Columbia and the nearest "dealership" is about 1500km away.
I have always done my own maintenance. The only bike that almost "defeated" me, was my Africa Twin! I called it my origami bike.... access needed so much work to do the simplest things.... Then again it was a Honda, so maybe I shouldn't have tried to poke around inside.
Apologies, I know this isn't a "Forum"... just giving some feedback
PS I'm a subscriber and enjoy your chit-chat comparisons.
Perhaps you could add a little more "ride out countryside" on the bikes as folks like to see where you are??
More of the countryside rides coming soon 👍🏼👍🏼
I put the official bar end mirrors on my GT a couple of weeks ago and can highly recommend them. Rock solid stability and much better viability behind. It looks so much better to my eyes too 😁
Good to know!
You missed a big plus on the Guzzi....not Chain! I love shafties.
Yes very true, how could I forget!
From my perspective, an honest motorcycle has spoked wheels and a chain drive. You can have your shaft drive and cast wheels, just not my thing.
Congrats on finally reaching 100k guys 🎉🎉🎉🍻
Yay! Thank you!
The Guzzi for me, but then I am completely biased.
Price wise, looks and quality, the Moto Guzzi is a whole league above in Australia, far more comparable to Triumph than Royal Enfield
