  • Have you been doing research on Prolotherapy solutions, including types of stem cells and PRP injection therapy? In this video, Regenerative Medicine specialist, Danielle Matias, PA-C, discusses our approach to determine if someone truly needs stem cells or if they may actually just need a more comprehensive H3 dextrose Prolotherapy technique, and why to avoid one-shot stem cell treatments that contain no living stem cells.

These treatment are not covered by insurance and they are very expensive. i have experiencing plantar ficiiatis and nothing has helped. Got my first prolotherapy injection today and see how it goes. 250 a shot and if it doesn't work I may try the PRP which is 1250 a shot. There are no guarantees that these are going to take my pain and discomfort away.

  • @creativegirl9710

That was very informative. I had a ND inject dextrose into my ankle area to surround the nerve. In hopes to take care of neuropathy. I have had the neuropathy at that time nearly 5 years. The dextrose did nothing. The procedure was ultrasound guided hydro-disection. According to your explanation the chronic pain which has gone on for many years would not get better with dextrose. He didn't believe PRP would help and thought it would just aggravate the existing nerve pain. I've had other NDs inject Prolozone into the arch of my foot, around the ankle--where I suffer crippling arthritis. Those have helped but none have gotten to this neuropathy pain. I have not done stem cells yet. I thought they always came from someone else which turned me off. I am also looking into a peptide Thymosin Beta 4 to be injected into my foot as well by ultrasound guided hydro-disection. Please Lord, I need something to work.

Hi CreativeGirl, Thank you for sharing your story and experience with some of the different regenerative medicine solutions. We certainly can't speak for everyone, but the stem cells and PRP that we use are always autologous - from the patient themselves- never from an outside source or any kind of dead "freeze dried" cells. We hope that you and your local providers will be able to get you some relief soon. If you feel that you wanted our specialists to see you at some point in the future, we're always happy to review cases to see if you sound like a good candidate for our center. We cannot accept all cases, but we're happy to take a look at see if it is a good fit. We wish you a very happy new year and all the best in health for 2021!

@@creativegirl9710 In that case prolotherapy could be of great help. My problem was not exactly as yours, but similarly it did involve the nervous system of which we still don't know very much when it comes to its behavior and pain. I suffered a whip lash injury in 2001, and although the injury was in the cervical spine, it caused terrible referred pain to my entire body for 8 years.the neurologist diagnosed me with fasciomyalgia but could only offer pain medications. And physical therapy. In 2009 I had 3 prolotherapy sessions with Dr. Reeves here in Kansas City, it was my last hope, to my disbelief I was cured. As a nurse I do my do diligence when it comes to research, and the research on prolotherapy is vast, even used by the VA but strangely not encouraged or even covered by insurance in the main population. After almost 12 years I am going back to Dr. Reeves to treat my carpal tunnel, had the first session 4 weeks ago. I truly hope prolotherapy will work for you.Good luck!!!

Hi Brad Raf99, thanks for the question. Ultimately, that would be determined after a physical exam and thorough review of a patient's medical history an any additional imaging like Digital Motion X-ray. Generally speaking, cellular solutions like PRP or stem cells are used in more severe cases of disability and known cervical dysstructure. But the patient's overall health needs to be taken into consideration as to which solution would be recommended.

Thank you for posting this video! It was Very informative. Will Medicaid cover these treatments? My knee is all messed up from when I was heavy. I lost about 300lbs 10 years or so ago and all the pain kinda just went away. About a month ago I went jogging and my knee has been in pain since & isn't letting up. I went to get checked, got an MRI and was told I had osteoarthritis. Does this last for the rest of your life? This is terrifying considering I usually try to stay physically active and i'm 37 y/o & now even walking causes discomfort and legit pain in my knee like i've never felt.
Do any insurance companies cover these types of treatments? If not, is there a way to get them to cover it, as opposed to surgery? Who can administer these injections? Do you trust any doctors in NYC enough to recommend?

Hi Chupa Gabrah, Thank you for sharing your story and glad that weight loss helped your knee pain for so long. That is wonderful! Yes, pain is a progressive disorder, including osteoarthritis, so if the degenerative cycle is not broken it continues. Just like aging, there are some things we can do to ease the process to live a more active or healthy life. Same thing with the joints. Once there has been some damage, that area more rapidly degenerates into degenerative joint disease (osteoarthritis). Regenerative Medicine is not covered by Medicaid, unfortunately. Some private insurance will reimburse patients for the procedure to some extent. Typically, when it comes to any type of pain medicine coverage, insurance (including Medicare/Medicaid) is limited to some steroid injections, pain medications, some physical therapy, and in some plans a couple visits of Chiropractic care. We hope this helps explain a little more clearly and we cover more about pain progression and osteoarthritis and regeneration on our channel if you want to do a deeper dive on these topics. We wish you all the best in health and getting to the root cause of your arthritis and pain! While we do not have a specific referral, you may want to try calling some places you find online and see if it seems like a good match. We hope you will soon find a doctor and treatment that is ideal for you.

Hi Seonghyo KIM- Thanks for reaching out. You will want to ask the office where you are planning to get the treatment performed what to expect. If you are planning to come to our clinic, this is always part of the consultation and discussion with the provider as well as discussion about risks based on the treatment plan. In general, the stronger the solution, the more stiff/swollen or painful the area can be directly after treatment because it creates more local inflammation. We wish you all the best in your treatment and if you are planning to come to our clinic, please reach out directly to us so we can more thoroughly answer your question.

Hi Insert Witty Meme Here, Yes, we regularly see patients here who were diagnosed with Ménière's disease in our Neck Center. Good question, but upper cervical treatments are one of the top reasons why patients travel to our Florida clinic. It is not something that most doctors treat, so even local Prolotherapy doctors pretty much like to stick to extremities and not be too aggressive with any kind of spine treatment, if they treat it at all. It is a long drive, yes, but if you wanted us to review your case, and were able to stay in Florida for a while (some patients have traveled here in an RV, for instance, or a rental apartment), we could potentially do a few treatments during that time. Tho, because it is a series, most people need somewhere between 3-6 total treatments, and more advanced cases may need more like 6-10, it really does depend on the case.

Hi Oscar, Thanks for the question. It's worth discussing with whoever is treating you. It could be the Prolotherapy technique itself is not comprehensive enough, or even that the solution could be made stronger before going to PRP or other autologous solutions. Or, it could be that you have a lesion that would be appropriate for PRP. In our center, we do PRP Prolotherapy, so even when using PRP we are also treating the surrounding attachments with dextrose Prolotherapy. It may be that there are other complementary therapies that need to be added to the program as well, such as exercises or nutrition. Hope that you and your doctor find the best solution to your issue or that you will find a practitioner who can offer you a more comprehensive approach to your injury.
