OK This seals it , Rick Springfield is certifiable an Ageless Cool Dude (ACD)
checkurbrainfly Yes he is
🎵 You know
I wish that I had Rick’s collection
I wish that I had Rick’s collection
Where can I find a collection like that 🎶
I like Rick Springfield more now. He's awesome. I was too young in the 70's to know not to open and play with the figures. I still have most of them loose and might send to be graded. They are all in NM condition.
NM would be 80-85 in general.
Two of my favorite things: the song “Love Somebody “ and Star Wars figs. Cool.
"I wish that I had Rick's Star Wars!! Where can I find a collection like that?!?!" Thank you.
@Short For A Stormtrooper Big For Your Mom Haha!!
@Short For A Stormtrooper Big For Your Mom "I love that Rick's a Star Wars nerd..
Where can I find a blue snaggle like that"? No? Maybe??
I love Rick Springfield, and I love his collection, however, those figures are NOT badly made. Unlike today's toys, they are very hard to break. I've seen them chewed up by dogs, but you'd rarely find one with missing limbs or fractures due to a child playing with them. They are VERY solidly made figures. Thanks KENNER!
+Trenton Hancock I agree.
+Trenton Hancock Agreed. When back home last Christmas and all my Star Wars stuff is intact. Not broken, falling apart, etc. And these things are damn near 40 years old. The stuff today breaks after a few plays...
Trenton Hancock hi
They have little to no articulation and dont look much like the character. Sturdiness is really all they have going for them.
Exactly, I’m pretty sure I spent a lot of time trying to get Biker Scouts to sit on their speeder bikes properly and it never resulted in busted limbs, just weirdly bow legged imperial Bad asses
My favorite rockstar doubling as my favorite geek!
+Ann Rinaldi Come on favorite ? no ones favorite is a one hit wonder.
+mcgaugh57
Someone needs to go to Rick Springfield school and I would be happy to be your professor: 17 top-40 hits to be exact. Be happy to list them for you! You obviously refer to Jessie's Girl, which went to #1 and won him the Grammy, and you have forgotten: I've Done Everything for You, Love Is Alright Tonite, What Kind of Fool Am I, I Get Excited (all from the same album as Jessie's Girl), Don't Talk to Strangers, Affair of the Heart, Human Touch, Souls, Rock of Life, Love Somebody, Celebrate Youth, State of the Heart, Bop Til You Drop, Don't Walk Away, Take a Hand, and Speak to the Sky. He has recorded 17 studio albums to date and his 18th is coming out in February. He has authored 2 NY Times Best Selling books, one his biography (Late, Late at Night) and one a novel (Magnificent Vibration). His biography was named one of the top 25 rock biographies of all time by Rolling Stone magazine (see interviewers above). Don't underestimate Rick. He still does over 100 live band shows per year and he is rocking. Type his name into the UA-cam search bar and check out something post 2000 like "Perfect" or "I'll Make You Happy!" or if you want to see his comedic side "If Wishes Were Fishes". It's time you were reintroduced!
Ann Rinaldi I've learned more about Rick Springfield today then the rest of my life :(
+mcgaugh57 Sorry that makes you sad, but you were the one who questioned how he could be my favorite rockstar! That's called tossing down the gauntlet.:-)
+Ann Rinaldi You're awesome! Great defense of Rick! He is amazing.
Rick is probably one of the few who collects star wars figures and gets laid
Your right hand doesn't count
Speak for yourself, dingus
People act like its hard to get laid no matter what you look like
What an amazing collection Rick !.Thanks for sharing with us.I have heard of people getting low grades from AFA ,opening up the acrylics and then re-submitting them and receiving a higher grading the 2nd time around.I have dealt with James Gallo over the years and he is a fantastic dealer. He was instrumental in helping me to complete my 2 full sets of POTF,Ewoks and Droids coin collections. If James doesn't have something,he knows people who do.Thanks again,Jeff.
Rickard is a class act...I grew up in Wentworthville and Merrylands which is the same are as Guildford ( Holroyd/Parramatta area) Where Rick is originally from
Awesome collection and an even nicer guy! Thanks for sharing. Keep rocking Rick and happy holidays!
The Montauk guy is like an East Coast version of Chumlee.
One version of Blue Snaggletooth that I was able to get and now I wish I had it. My mom went to Indonesia to visit friends and family there. With a stop over at Hong Kong she knew I asked her to look for Star Wars figures while over there. She found me a bagged Blue Snaggletooth cost her about 50 cents. I got that for Christmas that year, the funny thing was I had 2 loose ones as well from flea markets and even the cardboard scene from that playset I had it from the same yard sales and so forth, but liked the one with the plastic floor better though it is less expensive then the cardboard.
And that's why you gotta love the guy!!
Rick is such a classy guy. I grew up in Wentworthville and Merrylands (Parramatta/Holroyd..Cumberland county) which is the same area that Rick is originally from
I’ve always liked Rick Springfield and his music. Also loved his appearances on Californication. But the fact that he’s a fellow Star Wars collector makes him a damn legend!
What about Battlestar Galactica Memorabilia? Rick portrayed Lt. Zac in "Saga of a Star World"
great collection - and he's so cool too
What a cool guy
Yet another reason to love Rick Springfield!!!
Awesome Rick keep on collecting!!!!
Rick always seemed cool... now he seems even cooler. I genuinely wonder what other stuff he collects...
Ah,
so THIS is why Jesse got the girl and not Rick. He's an A-list nerd.
(I mean that in a good way, of course.)
I think that Bluestars is the one I sold about 20 years ago. I sold it for college funds, and at the time, it was the only one in existence that was AFA graded. Sold it to someone who was a third-party middleman for the buyer.
I got a lot of those, but not in the boxes. Great seeing this - thanks RS!
+Rick The Explorer™ Thanks Rick. This was a fun one.
I like Rick Springfield Rick Springfield is my favorite singer&actor
First he wants to steal his friend's girlfriend, now he has the greatest Star Wars collection. Is this dude cool or what??
Never knew he was such a big collector of Star Wars Vintage figures! That Boba Fett cardback was brilliant the only known example in the world, damn that's nice!!
Even Rick Springfield knows about AFA's scam.
I would love to see this man and to look at the collection
wow that's a great collection!!!
I am impressed! Very nice collection, Rick :)
I lucked out and got a vinyl cape jawa (not sure if the cape is retro or not tho) and a blue snaggletooth, but that's about it for me on recapturing the vintage line...
I learnt as 10 year old by 1983 to open them carefully. I can still place Hoth Leia and Lando in the bubbles. It looks like unopened. But 2 only.
@@Retsler54 When I got most of the original 12-backs, I actually thought about leaving them unopened, thinking "they might become valuable someday" and then thinking "nah...." lol I didn't take it seriously until 1999, a little late.
I love collecting action figures!
zac of battlestar Galactica is a star wars fan. crazy. ask him BSG vs star wars.
My sentiments exactly
The one I want is Mr Atomic in the display cabinet
Chuck of SYSK said I should check out this video from the "Should Advertising to Kids be Banned" episode. Now I get why Rick "Forcefield" was in that Star Wars Cantina tryouts video.
Oh my god I am a big Star Wars fan. Since I was 13 years
"I wish that i had___missile firing Boba Fett"
Wow that's cool! I never would have guessed. I have some vintage stuff on my channel. Original. I had a generous Grandma ;
wow, fan of this guy now
Probably the most expensively collectible and famous toys ever produced
Cool. They are small works of art, design and sculpture.
Always loved Rick!! but now I love dat guy even more lol!!
I've been burnt out on all thing Star Wars for years. But I will admit: Rick's collection is fucking cool!
Very Cool.
What a legend.
I can't believe Rick has the Ben and Vader DT figures carded! They just glossed over them..lol Tri Logo Yak Face..
Rick Springfield only partly eludes to this fact... that no one brings up from my generation....And this is it: You were definitely considered a Nerd (yes, that was and insult and you didn’t want to be one in the 70s!!!) if you collected Star Wars Toys and you were say 11 yrs or older! I remember hinding my figures and secretly admiring them and their cool packaging. It’s only decades later that it became “normal” and now even a bit “cool” to be a Star Wars geek and in fact a Nerd. Does anyone else remember these times??? I tell my Adult Sons that being a Nerd Engineer/Toy Dork is ok now. The Hell we put ourselves through way back then worrying someone would see me buying or enjoying a Star Wars toy. Man... how times have changed and...in a good way as well ;)
Rick was around 30 when these came out. He wasn't "just beyond the age of playing with toys".
Wow 🤩
Only one known in the world
Cameraman: zooms out as far as possible instead of in
I'd like this video a lot more if the background music didn't completely drown out Rick
The knows his shit
When Rick was talking about AFA grading the back of one of the cards low, he might have gotten it mixed up. There are three sub-grades- C B and F.... (C)ard, (B)lister or Bubble and (F)igure . So if the B was a low grade, thats the clear blister that holds the toy to the card..... Not the back of the card. I got that mixed up too at first and thought B was for the back of the card and F was the front! I LOVE AFA because it guarantees the authenticity and condition of my figures... But you could have a toy with a pristine card and figure that looks absolutely beautiful... but if that figure has a dent or crack in the bubble, the overall grade could be lowered. I supposed I would take a low grade over a repro ANYDAY! A LOT of reproductions are being circulated so be careful when buying carded Star Wars figures that are not already graded.
By the way, AMAZING collection Rick!
Anyone know what's so rare about the trilogo General Madine valued at 10k-15k at 4:17 ???
To my understanding there are roughly about 20-25 Tri logo General Madines out there. And there is a pretty big amount of collectors trying to complete their Tri logo runs. Add to that a few Madine focus people and boom demand is very high and availability is extremely low hence the insane price.
Damn I had all of them, Messed them up , but my bother can a good time.
How can I have a collection like that? I've got Springfield's Toys !! duh nuh nuh nuh nuh. Springfield's Toys !! duh nuh nuh nuh
This clinches it.
Where the worlds of "Jesse's Girl", Princess Leia & Sotheby's appraisals collide.
Headman is so rare and valuable not even Steve Sansweet himself has one.
"just old enough..." 28, Rick. You were 28.
HE CAN AFFORD IT
He doesn't want people to know he's bought these as an investment. I doubt he bought them when they came out. He said he was just beyond the age of playing with them, but he was close to 30 when they came out. I suppose he was also lucky enough to have bought all the most sought after, more rare toys by accident?
Forget Jesse's girl, he's got the Star Wars collection.
🎶🎶🎶I Wish I Could Have Jessie's Girl🎶🎶🎶
i hope he watch the force awakens!
nice very nice....
what is that clear box? what does he uses to keep them looking good?
I am beginning my collection , most of them are boxed, but I have an r2d2 that comes mounted on outside the box because it tslks..I'm taking those batteries out..how do I protect it?
0:26 "I sure liked the toys more than I liked the movies." // yep. I agree. Even more with the Prequels and Sequels, etc... The Obi-Wan toys are also cooler than the new series.
Outstanding video. I love it. Excellent job. Please take a look at my channel. I would appreciate to know what you think of it. Thank you my friend and keep up the great work!
Lucifer digs action figures,nice.
He's a nerd just like me!
He sounds a bit like Jeff Goldblums
Rick's Australian but lost some of his accent.
Is this dude cool or what??
I love toy collecting but as for star wars, I can go to walmart today and see figures that I saw 33 years ago on the shelves, same with Hot Wheels that's why I don't collect them.
I have seen his wikipedia page and i still don't get how this dude is a "rockstar".
I'd like to know what his whole collection is worth.
Why can't buy a collection like that?
Türkiye 🇹🇷
Who is he?
Jessies action figures
Wtf...this was cool
he bought head man fro Turkei, lol
Did he say when the Martians come, what kind of drugs was he doing all those years🤔
Nope, he didn’t say anything about Martians.
Hahahahaha
Awesome
😆
I hate figures in the original boxes. I really hate them graded in plastic you cant see.
What a NERD!!! I love it!!!!!
Who is Rick Springfield? Never heard of him! Very nice collection though!
try Google 🙄
jez Christ
How to spend 100 bucks and make 300 grand
Actor, rockstar lol
He bought those. Lol. No way he had them when he was a kid and put them away. Bullshit lol
+D Ramirez (Blackbird) Agree, I believe most of those were bought over the last 15 years.
+Blackbird 111 (Blackbird) He said he opened some of them and then decided that he was too old to play with them. It's plausible.
He was 28 when they came out. Yes, I would say he was too old to play with them at that time.
When your doped out its cool to play with them i guess 😂
Who cares. Lots of grow ups buy the figures they could not get or parents could not afford to buy them when they were little.
The people who buy children’s toys as an investment are the main problem with the hobby of action figure collecting today.
Yeah, but the people who bought them in the 70's and 80's because they liked the toys are the reason there are still mint, packaged examples today. Rick says he bought these figures when they came out because he enjoyed collecting them. I don't know if that's true, or not because it seems like everything he has is rare. Nobody knew back then which figures would be rare.
@@michaelharrington75 again, the people who buy kid’s toys as an investment are the main problem with the hobby of action figure collecting.
People like that only drove the prices up for everyone mainly kids.
No amount of weasel talk will justify it either.
@@tetsuoswrathI agree that people buying high quality and rare vintage toys as an investment are ruining the hobby, and driving up prices, but the collectors are the reason there are quality examples of those toys. Collectors that bought the toys because they enjoyed collecting them.
@@michaelharrington75 and again dude, anyone who is buying the toys as an investment is a problem.
You failed to justify their practices with your one example of “we have stuff on card still though!”
That doesn’t justify people making action figures unreasonably unaffordable for the average adult to justify paying for let alone collecting.
My position is unchanged.
@@tetsuoswrath I'm not trying to change your position! I was agreeing with you! Work on your reading comprehension skills.
Is this guy missing anything?
0:29 "My name is David Montauk I'm a 31 year old Star Wars fan, Star Wars toy collector and...." Virgin
+obbyblobby Oh my god you're an original comedic genius.
bauble24 Was that you in the video? Sounds like I touched a nerve or in this case a nerd
obbyblobby Talk to me when you say something original, which is probably never
+obbyblobby Haha..I was just going to say the same thing. When he was talking, I thought.."Dude, you forgot to mention something else."
2015 "I don't sell." 2019 "Rick Springfield sells his entire Star Wars collection for $250k"
Wish my parents collected them😢
First he wants to steal his friend's girlfriend, now he has the greatest Star Wars collection. Is this dude cool or what??
Not the greatest. Jeff Jacob's collection blows this away.
