- Kenya has witnessed its first-ever impeachment proceedings against a deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua, who faced serious allegations that saw him permanently barred from holding public office. The accusations included corruption, undermining the authority of the president, and inciting ethnic divisions - all of which he denies. The BBC’s Jewel Kiriungi takes a closer look at how events unfolded.

Sierra Leone did the same thing too, impeaching vice presidents is a very bad game and political parties that usually do this has division and low support in the future. If the 2 first gentlemen cannot see eye to eye and solve issues between themselves, how can they solve future problems in the country

You cannot say "we Kenyans know what we are doing" ...this isn't us Kenyans. This is Ruto. They contacted a sham public participation just to meet a constitutional requirement, and the people said 'kufa makanga kufa dereva'.

Obviously; Kenya is not going on the right path. Ruto has been in power for less than two years but has quickly shown all the aspects of a heartless dictator. He calls himself a Christian. Comparing KENYA to Zimbabwe or Zambia in you journalism is not making making sense. Impeachment in Kenya starts with being subjected to the court of public opinion aka public participation then to Parliament and to the upper House, Senate. Kenya and her institutions is a more democratic advanced country than any country in Africa if we were to judge by its recent political activities ranging from 2010.

Central Kenya has produced 3 presidents out of the 5 since Independence,2 vice presidents, 1deputy independent who has just got impeached but he's still the very same person who was propagating ethnic division in the country in the name of shares yet he's part of the presidency,a symbol of national unity as per the requirements of the 2010 constitution and this alone sent him home. Out of the 21 cabinet positions, central Kenya already has 7 together with the DP and therefore this person must go, after all the position will go back to the region.
Here's whats shameful about Kenyan politicians- He is not fighting to remain VP cause he wants to serve Kenyan people but rather he wants to reserve that position to loot, influence tenders in his favor and shield himself from prosecution from previous corrupt acts!! The people who lied to Gachagua to take on Ruto are here. He should have resigned. Kenya's faulty constitution created an imperial and absolutist presidency, where the president gets what he wants. Gachagua is gone. The constitution should be changed to create a parliamentary system of government, where once a president or VP is impeached, they remain ordinary members of parliament and can still contest the seat in the future, unless the courts find them culpable.
