I managed to get mine open-box for £200, so I thought I'd try it and I've been surprised how much I use it. I often use it out and about for discreet shots of people when you don't feel comfortable getting close but it also doesn't feel like you're being creepy with a long tele. As for Macro, it's lovely.
Have to agree on the focal length part... But then aren't Prime lenses usually purchased for more specific uses? Having said that I did just purchase this lens (not delivered yet) to see how well it will work for digitizing 35mm slides and negatives as currently I'm using a G9 and the best choice from the lenses I have is my Pana 12-60, which allows me to get roughly 2500x1700 resolution images from standard 35mm negatives. Hoping to perhaps get better IQ and resolution with this lens (though I'm not sure I'll gain much in the frame coverage since my 12-60 @ 60mm with an approx. 8" focus distance will likely be about the same image size as a 30mm with a 4" (though I've not checked to see how much of a difference there is in focus distance across the full range on the 12-60). Anyway, Thanks for the Review It was informative! BTW - I'm also working on doing a comparative video here on UA-cam on digitizing negatives using a cheap film/slide scanner, Epson V550/600 flatbed and using a DSLR light board rig (since I've started doing all the family photo's etc I've been trying to find the best way to balance getting good results vs. Time and effort). Thanks Again!
I noticed too. Vinyl rocks! My wife is going to give me this lens for my birthday. I'm happy. With my Panasonic 45-200 zoom and Panasonic Leica 1.7/15 it will be very welcome.
Close-to-Normal lens with OIS for those older Lumix bodies w/o IBIS. Looks very sharp. Good fit for my GF-1. People probably do more close-focus work than true macro shooting, where a longer lens (60mm) would be better.
Fujifilm X-T4, Rode Wireless Go and... not sure which lens, close ups with XF60mm, and talking head shot possibly Viltrox 33mm. For the lens shots I used my Panasonic GX80.

That is a bargain!
I like how honest this is. I think for macro I'll consider other options.
Thanks!
Great lens, well made, handles well. Very happy with mine having got rid of the Pana Leica 45mm macro
Thanks for your comment, good to hear!

Thanks a lot. I'll be sure to check out the video when it's up!
can you fill the frame with a 35mm negative?
Hi! Can this be used for shooting normal cinematic videos as well? Will the stabilization function smoothly or will it be jittery? Thank you!
I think it works well with the Panasonic IBIS system
@@DamianBrown Thank you so much! ^_^
I notice loads of vinyl in the background; must be a music lover as well and maybe even an audiophile ?
Ye bit of a vinyl fan :)
@@DamianBrown I know the feeling :-))

Agreed!
What gear did you use to shoot this video?

This lens versus the Sigma 30mm f/1.4? (I have a Panasonic G7)
Thanks for the review! 🙏🏼
Good idea. I haven't done it yet!
Dope music! Where's it from, if I may ask?
I always take it from the UA-cam audio library
For the price I would prefer a zoom
Please confine to the macro capability than shooting what a standard lens can do.
Ok
@@DamianBrown Don't listen to Jose, I for one wanted to see both
can you use lenses like this on a point and shoot like lumix sz70
No, only interchangeable lens cameras, m43 mount.
