- EDIT: Turns out the time is 4:59.873. It was timed 6 frames too slow the first time around.
The first sub 5 completion of All Stars SMB1! When I started playing this version I just wanted to beat the previous record (5:01.70 by Andrewg1990), but after beating it with a time of 5:01.370 I realized I could just BARELY get sub 5 if I put together the run I wanted. So that's what I did! 2 frames slower in 8-4 and I would not have gotten sub 5. It's no secret that I'm not a huge fan of this version of the game, but I'm very proud of this run!

in 2:22 he gets warped into a mushroom place when do they warp me in a bonus room ? is this my problem , do i have to do some perfect timing stuff???
Criotics you gotta look at this in dept 10 minute video all about 4-2 to understand it, it’s an exploit that loads the warp area instead of the bonus room, thought I swear you had to trigger the vine every time to make it work but he didn’t here idk

You need a capture card and then broadcasting/recording software such as OBS Studio

8-4 wrong warp, grabbing the right side of the flagpole on some levels. Not seen in this run is 1-2 clip, flagpole glitch, walljump

Federico Cavagnero you can get the best framerule in 1-1 without it and any other level you'd have to not release right when you do pipe jumps. The runs already hard enough as it is, etc.

Congrats on the record. I’m wondering, in games like this where frames count, how do you guys make sure splits are accurate and there’s not human error?
As you see at the end of the run, the timer on screen is not the same that is in the title of the video. The split times themselves don't really matter too much, general way for the runner, in this case, to know if he's on par with the frame ruels or not.
That said: The run was re-timed afterwards to get the exact time it took from start to finish, ignoring the human error of splitting late/early.
Alex Ellisson in most cases the frame count of the video is sufficient, but in smb1 that's still not enough, so we use the pattern bowser does in 8-4. His pattern depends on how many frames have passed from power-on so we can know how fast we got to him. That was very important in this case because going just off the recording the time was 5:00.0, but based on Bowsers pattern (which is 100% accurate) it's 4:59.973 :)

@@matthewhunter2443 yeah this was one of the first few small only runs of this version and the first sub 5 so it was a pretty big milestone for the category
3:49-The heck happened to that koopa?
It's a weird glitch that happens in this version when the flag on the flagpole loads into the enemies' sprite slot.
Windows XP in smb 1, I think only 9 hitboxes can be on the screen at once, so I think I a tenth hit box comes on to the screen, then it deletes a hit box. Idk if this is true, but I am pretty sure it is.
Is a framerule in this game the same 21 frames or is it different?

So I'm guessing it has different frames per second, because it's not 0.3 anymore, it's 0.2

Jesus Christ, dude, well done!! It's crazy how barely possible it is to get a sub-5. Heck, even the TAS is barely a low 4:59! I'm not a fan of this game, either, to be honest. What's your next task, now, Kosmic?
I'll be doing warpless runs of this category :) I love warpless so it should be fun. Not sure which TAS you're referring to though. I believe a TAS of this game can get like 4:53 or better.

Evan Blenkinsopp by the way tas timing is different than rta timing. Tas timing starts when emulator console is turned on.
+Tuna Yücer I know. This TAS I saw was timed at 5:11, which was from power-on, and going through all the menus.
