It is SO hard to find someone who can actually sing as great live as in studio. This is awesome.
So very true! I've been on a 80's music kick. Must have been good times.. no social media nonsense
@@LaurenMiddleton28 dont ever let anyone tell you any different ...the 80s were a great time ...especially the early 80s ...in Detroit ..
Absolutely - this live version IS SO AWESOME - I ALWAYS WONDERED SINCE I FIRST HEARD THIS SONG ON THE RADIO IF THEY COULD DUPLICATE IT LIVE!!!!
Sgreed
Freddi Mercury, Elton John, Steve perry, and many others can sing live as good as studios
One of the most underrated bands in history Jimi Jamison might have the best natural live voice of all time
One of the best rock voices period !!!!!
Totally Agree! RIP Jimi
Lol...Are you insane?
Feel exactly the same watching the video.
If you like his voice then check out Fergie Frederiksen (Toto, Le Roux and backing vocals on Eye of the Tiger). Sounds 99% the same!
There will never be another JIMI JAMESON!!!
I'm completely agree!🥺💗
No never will be another like him!😢
Who's listening to the best of the 80s in 2024??😎😙😉👍👍😎❤❤❤❤FANTASTIC!!
If you don’t feel better after listening to this, you’re probably in need of medication. This was such a great era for music!
U said it! Take me back in time any day! Todays crap dont cut it!
Big Jack and The Aspergonian saw them in NY 2 -3 years ago. I’ll tell you what: New singer totally respected the fact that audience was SURVIVOR fans
He stood back and also nailed the lyrics.
Class act
Goose bumps omg same with Reo Speed wagon forever young lads and lasses
Agreed 100%!!! I just wrote something similar on another version of this song.
EPIC voice...
EPIC Guitarist...
EPIC FREAKIN BAND ! ! !
Jimi at his ultimate best, he sang every song he performed in this concert in the same key that the songs were recorded in. A powerhouse performance, he was the best.
Yes he was the best!❤
When you didn’t need auto tune because you’re voice sounded great and the same live and in the studio 🙏🏻 #realtalent #realmusic
His voice sounded exactly like in the album. He's that good. Or rather, their generation is that good.
Not an ounce of voice distress or distortion.
Jimi Jamison and Steve Perry. The best voices of the '80s! R.I.P. Jimi
So true, i trust.
I could not agree more!
Amen!!!
true
Lenny D. you forgot Freddie Mercury
And the jump at 2:55 while he sings the second chorus...without missing a note!!
anyone else get goosebumps when they hear this song? wtf
Every time. This is my fav Survivor song.
Same for me, every time I hear it. Jimi was amazing, just an immaculate voice.
Everytime I sing it
Everytime
Always ❤️
Jimi had pure freaking talent!
The best thing about this whole song… beyond the stellar performance… is that everyone looks like they're having so much fun!
YEAH - SO MANY GROUPS LOOK BORED UP ON STAGE - MAYBE IT IS BECAUSE SOME AUDIENCE MEMBERS DO NOT GET INTO IT ENOUGH AND THE GROUPS FEEL UNAPPRECIATED!!!!
Ahhh cocaine and the 80’s!
They all liked each other at this point...plus Jimi was taking them to new heights Survivor never would've reached without him.
There's no denying the greatness of Jimi's vocals and how this live version sounds like the studio version. But also, let's acknowledge how rockin' the keyboardist is and how mellow the bass player is.
Jim Peterik once said of Jimi that he was the only singer who could truly turn his written songs into the reality they deserved.
wow I think that was a sign of admiration and respect for Jimi and his beautiful voice!
Jimi voice was a gift to us!❤
no one can compare to jimmi jamison's voice..the world lost another great talent..one of the best vocalist of all time.
Jimi is so ridiculously underrated
Jimi you are so loved and missed till this day. One of the absolute best singers of all time, and also the HOTTEST ❤
Jimi Jamison was an amazing singer. Jim Peterik, co-founder of Survivor, keyboardist, co-songwriter for Survivo, etc. is also really talented along with Frankie Sullivan guitar player. Jim produced and wrote the songs specifically for Jimi' voice on the album Crossroads Moment. I could listen to Jimi singing forever.
Me too jimi had my playlist full of his songs 😅 with and without survivor! I love his voice!💕
The most underrated band and singer in history
Jimi is flawless❤️. I Can’t hold back the tears Jimi. You are always loved. Thanks for the memories.
Jimi looks like he was such a genuinely, pleasant, human being.
I thought he was. A true Nashville gentlemen. BTW, Survivor records didn't take that long to record. Jimi, Jim and Frankie were very well prepared. True professionals at their craft. Many of Jimi's vocals were done in one or two takes with very little overdubbing or punching in, He got it right the first time.
He was from Memphis
Rock Musician. He will be best remembered as the lead vocalist for the rock music ensemble "Survivor" from 1984 until their disbanding in 1989. Born Jimmy Wayne Jamison in Mississippi, he moved with his mother to Memphis, Tennessee when he was an infant. After performing in a band during his teenage years, he joined the group "Target" during the 1970s. In addition to releasing a few albums, the band was the opening act for such groups as "Black Sabbath", "Boston" and "KISS". Jamison went on to the group "Cobra", prior to succeeding Dave Bickler as the lead singer for "Survivor" in 1983. Their platinum anthem "Eye of the Tiger" (1982) had already brought them commercial success and during Jamison's time as the front-man, they scored Top-Ten hits with "High on You" (1985), "The Search is Over" (1985), "Burning Heart" (1985) and "Is This Love" (1986). During the 1990s, he achieved success as a solo artist with the hit "I'm Always Here", which became the theme song for the TV series "Baywatch". In 2004, Jamison reunited with other "Survivor" band members to record a parody of their hit "Eye of the Tiger" for a Starbucks' TV commercial. They received a Emmy Award nomination. Jamison died from a heart attack.
I'm only gonna say this: What a fantastic performance.
He was arguably one of the best singers of the 80’s.
The best!😊❤
The best of any decade
What are we arguing? Lol
@@lorenmorgan1931 well remember there was some guy called Steve Perry 🤷🏼♂️
@@rafaelmarrero9417 yeah, supposedly he's going to tour again. Steve has one thing Jimi doesnt unfortunately (F you speed junkie Sullivan)
Jimi Jamison, Steve Perry, and Steve Walsh are the most powerful rock singers of all time, but I gotta give Jimi the honor of having the same powerful voice live as in studio....what a amazing singer he was.
My God he sings as good as in the studio. That's awesome. May God rest his soul.
Jimi Jamison album ready at all times 🙏🏼 💪🏼 🎤. I love how he jumps in on the backup vocal parts as well. Total vocal/breath control & strength. So euphoric on the last “this love affair can’t waaaaaiiit” into the outro. That’s how the 80s do les it baby!!! (Ionian modes 💯✴️💰💡📽)
Jimi encompassed the 80s sound in the most beautiful way. He’s missed.
I’m so impressed on how Jimi’s voice sounded totally just like the recording. And the band too, just with a bit more energy.
best vocals ever
I am a big fan of Jimi since Vital Signs. If you want to hear him at age 17 with the Debuts, just search UA-cam for "The Debuts, If I Cry". It was his first single and his vocals were unbelieveable already at that age. It was on the Scudder label and you could tell already that he was going to have a superstar career.
Thank You
I think more than anything, I love that the keyboard/pianist looks like an accountant.
But by God, he's an accountant who can take that instrument for a walk!
You need to thank that accountant. He was the songsmith of the band!!
The entire band rocks...and is stellar...
Jimi's voice is a true gift...how he's not a household name like Steve Perry or Lou Gramm etc is beyond me...bcz he's part of that rarified air for sure.
Perfect pitch...great tone..phrasing ..range...effortless.....he makes it look easy but these songs are tough...amazing
RIP Jimi
I think he beats Perry in terms of how you can UNDERSTAND the lyrics. Perry's voice distorts the words too much. Jimi is able to hold a note and be clear. I used to think Perry was it, but I think the music industry greatly underrated Jamison. Even Gramm had clearer tones than Perry, but he lost his voice as he aged (medical reasons, I think). Jamison kept his voice for the most part until his death.
Very good analysis Shana.
One of the best things is to see the magic of a band coming together to not only play perfectly, but to have fun doing it. I love Jimi's voice and how it is nearly spot-on with the album version, but I also love how all of the guys are having a blast performing this song. I wish that I could have saw them live. RIP, Jimi.
I saw a Survivor in concert at least five times beginning in 1987 and got to see Jimi perform at least as much. I saw Jimi performed 3 weeks before he passed.
He sounds even better live. Truly amazing voice, taken way too soon 😔
That part where Frankie grabs JJ on the back was so funny. That cheeky grin. Forever missed.
His vocals is so Superior, wow i love his voice my God
Me too I love it🎶🎧💕
God his voice is gold. Him and Steve perry man. I can’t believe this is live.
Jimi Jamison mesmerized his band in this video. Text book vocalist.
A beautiful man with a beautiful voice...RIP Jimi Jamison.
Yess beautiful and sexy very very sexy . Love to Jimi Jamison 😢. My one love forever
Peterik was an awesome song writer and Survivor a very underrated band at a time when the word "music" still meant something.
This song is so difficult to do. He does it as great as the album live. Amazing voice...
Its amazing how god sends us some of the amazing people with amazing talents. Thank you Jimi and survivor for giving us great music.
Absolutely
Back then when people seems to be so happy
Survivor is the best band ever
I love watching 70's and 80's bands with the crowds.. people were thin and happy.
Jimi Jamison was one of the 10 best voices in the world at the time
I love you Jamo, I love you Survivor. 🎤🎵🎸🎶🇨🇴🙏😇❤️❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
One of the most beautiful songs ever written.
how can this iconic voice only get 3k likes
This guy could really sing it with energy and passion, no auto tune b.s.! Jimi R.I.P. you were one of the greats.
One of the all time greatest voices
In my opinion these guys are one of the top bands of all time ⏲ 👦 😌 ☺ 👌 👏 🙌 👍
Jimi Jamison one of the best that ever lived!
Jim Peterik so got INTO any and all performances!
magic song from survivor and jimi jameson i miss so much, i cried my heart out when he died last year. we all love and miss you man, one of my music heroes. gives me insperation to make it as a singer. he does that for me, this song is for you man. rest in peace you amazing wonderful man.
Nicknamed "The Voice". That's all. Just "The Voice". God given talent. Phenomenal
he was a underrated singer. for real.
Most underrated band/talent of the 80’s, especially after Jimi Jamison (RIP) joined them in 1984!!
The fact that this is LIVE is incredibly jaw dropping
Best live voice and performance ever
This song was pure perfection. Band tight. JJ vocals stellar... untouchable by today's standards. Makes me wonder what could possibly possess 35 folks to dare give it neg thumbs down? Would love to hear reasoning behind because, short of being deaf, or just being mean or a jerk, there is nothing under the sun to justify. Reminded how underrated group was and how much pleasure their music brought me. Sad that the outrageously talented Jimi Jamison is gone~
Your words are 100% true my brother and I enjoyed reading your post.
Now we know he did his vocal tracks in the studio in 1 take, he sounds amazing live just like the record. The world lacks of this kind of talent... incredible voice!!!
I hope you realize we’re all human and nobody’s perfect. This world doesn’t lack any of it, it’s just these tools have become widely more available for people to use but not everybody uses auto tune. A lot of live recordings use auto tune before resurfacing so they don’t sound like shit but I promise there’s an original recording of this and the way they made Jimi sound so soft, smooth and perfect is embarrassing because he sounded nothing like this in the original live recording.
@@EastDetroitMusic-Sirens3000A where is this "original live recording" you´re talking about? because I think this guy actually did have some serious pipes back then - no wonder Richie Blackmore wanted him for Deep Purple not many years after this video!
@@EastDetroitMusic-Sirens3000A 🤣 yeah......sure .

See who’s laughing now.
I was so lucky to see this band with Jimi back in the 1980s! I had no idea that Jimi had passed away. Jimi ranks among the top of the 1980s power vocalist of all time. Now he stands alongside the greatest in rock legend history in heaven and will live forever in the stadiums that he once played while singing forever for his fans on CDs and Vinyl! God bless you, sir!
They were great live in the mid eighties!
How isn’t Jami Jameson more credited as one of the best singers in rock? This was a flawless performance, not to mention how easy he makes it look to sing such a difficult song!
When u hear a voice. Stop amd just listen. It's the best voice I've ever heard. Note perfect while jumping about. Rest in eternal piece jimi jamieson
This is one of those songs I cannot imagine anyone else trying to sing.
I tried, yesterday. In the shower.
Max Mustermann how did it go?
And they should't
@@russwise3006 why???
I am a massive, die-hard Steve Perry/Journey fan .... but Jimi Jamison was up there. Beyond, beyond phenomenal. Big hello from Melbourne, Australia!
Hahahaa! me too! I saw him at a concert in Orlando. I was up front. Damn he was hot! But not as hot as Steve ❤️
@@LovTheNose Just gorgeous, both of them! (My heart melted for Steve Perry, Jimi Jamison & Richie Sambora!). I haven't loved a band/singers so much since either of them back in the 80s. 40 years ago!!!! BUT, l will say, l am currently deeply moved by Texan band Night Traveler .... listen to this - ua-cam.com/video/nXdjejDenC4/v-deo.html
Warmest wishes to you from Melbourne.
@@LovTheNose Jimi was so much better looking than Steve!Imo Jimi had it all!Love me some Jimi Jamison💕

I didn’t live through the 80’s. I was born in 1999 but absolutely love all the 80’s Bands. Journey and Survivor are 2 of my favorites. Jimi sounded the same in 2013 as he did in the 80’s. Your voice lives on Jimi.
Amazed at how great this song sounds live!!
Such a underrated singer
Too good....you know the artists are phenomenal when the live version is as good if not better than the original... Survivor is so underrated ❤️💯🔥
Complete package band... Jimi, Sullivan and the rest of the band are awesome
One of the most fun rock songs ever. I come back to this every now and again to smile at how much the band members are just going to town on this performance and enjoying themselves. Frankie hyping up the acoustic player, Jim bobbing his head to every beat like a metronome, Jimi’s little triumphant fist motions and his hurdle over the speaker at the final chorus, gosh this is just such a fun performance of a fun song.
What an intense and perfect live performance.
Probably one of the most underrated bands in the world. Great musicians, and Jimi Jamison (R.I.P.) was a great singer. I really like Dave Bickler's voice but Jimi knew to put something special into the band's sound. A wonderful voice. They'll be immortal for "Eye of the Tiger" but they did so many great songs, too, worth to remember. Some might call this Housewife Metal but I think it's great rock music played from the heart right to the soul of the audience.
The classic lineup. The songwriting genius of Jim Peterik, plus the bad-boy next door charm of Jimi Jamison in all his glory!
Kids today, watch and learn. This IS song writing and live performing. Love Survivor.
Great voice, and so handsome. RIP Jimmy Jamison. You will always be missed in the hearts of All who loved Survivor. Gone way too soon..❤
this is so good!!
70's and 80's bands had to be good live. REAL talent,
One of the best vocals ever. R.i.p
The best...only jimi ❤no one else
This is one of the best songs from this Era👌 👍 ☺
Jimi has a beautiful voice RIP
YOU ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ MADE SURVIVOR ONE OF THE BEST BANDS EVER!! YOU WERE ❤️ PURE SWEETNESS DARLING!!!
He brought the songs to life. God bless him. Love ya Jimi. Take care up there my friend
It's great to see them all, Jimi, Frankie and Jim thoroughly enjoying themselves as they perform live.
Miss that voice !! RIP Jimmy
jimi was gorgeous x
Vivan los 80s cuando volverá esa buena musica, el solo hecho de escuchar esa guitarra se me enchina la piel y esa bendita voz de jimi, muy buenos recuerdos
A true legend..he achieved more with his voice and his music than any other artist ever had..he was a true diamond with the personality to match..🤩😭he will forever be missed but never forgotten
The best singer in the world .💕💞💓💕💞💓💞💓💕
Concordo plenamente com vc 😘❤️
Now that's a voice with a rock and roll attitude. ..
Hard to believe this is live it sounds absolutely amazing! This band is so underrated. Great musicians and Jimi was an absolute vocal beast! Every musician on this band is so damn good! Tone is pure and magical!
Incredible pipes from a good ole country boy. Addicts don't choose drugs, they choose us. RIP
those who thumbs down are clueless of what pure talent is
Let’s give some love to the guitarist back up singer. Beautiful voice.
One of the best vocalists ever.
Wuuut? Either this live recording is rife with overdubs or they were one of the best live bands I’ve ever heard. These guys were never really on my radar, but dang... that was impressive. No missing harmonies. Sounded like the record.
probably overdubbed a lot, which is very common
You can see the emotions coming through so strong from all the members of the nostalgic band thats what makes the music so great not many have that this is real from the heart💖💖💖💖 will never get tired of listening and watching Jimi with his awesome smile 😙😚😊🤗
There are artists who can't LIP SYNCH their vocals this good!
R.I.P, Jimi Jamison. Best voice ever!
RIP Jimi Jamison, great voice!
