Jimi Jamison was an amazing singer. Jim Peterik, co-founder of Survivor, keyboardist, co-songwriter for Survivo, etc. is also really talented along with Frankie Sullivan guitar player. Jim produced and wrote the songs specifically for Jimi' voice on the album Crossroads Moment. I could listen to Jimi singing forever.
Big Jack and The Aspergonian saw them in NY 2 -3 years ago. I’ll tell you what: New singer totally respected the fact that audience was SURVIVOR fans He stood back and also nailed the lyrics. Class act
Jimi at his ultimate best, he sang every song he performed in this concert in the same key that the songs were recorded in. A powerhouse performance, he was the best.
YEAH - SO MANY GROUPS LOOK BORED UP ON STAGE - MAYBE IT IS BECAUSE SOME AUDIENCE MEMBERS DO NOT GET INTO IT ENOUGH AND THE GROUPS FEEL UNAPPRECIATED!!!!
There's no denying the greatness of Jimi's vocals and how this live version sounds like the studio version. But also, let's acknowledge how rockin' the keyboardist is and how mellow the bass player is.
I thought he was. A true Nashville gentlemen. BTW, Survivor records didn't take that long to record. Jimi, Jim and Frankie were very well prepared. True professionals at their craft. Many of Jimi's vocals were done in one or two takes with very little overdubbing or punching in, He got it right the first time.
Those are musicians and singer... No fucking sound mix table or filter.. Just guitars, drums and voice.. Great 👍 😊 today's there is no emotional music.. Sad 😔
I think more than anything, I love that the keyboard/pianist looks like an accountant. But by God, he's an accountant who can take that instrument for a walk!
Rock Musician. He will be best remembered as the lead vocalist for the rock music ensemble "Survivor" from 1984 until their disbanding in 1989. Born Jimmy Wayne Jamison in Mississippi, he moved with his mother to Memphis, Tennessee when he was an infant. After performing in a band during his teenage years, he joined the group "Target" during the 1970s. In addition to releasing a few albums, the band was the opening act for such groups as "Black Sabbath", "Boston" and "KISS". Jamison went on to the group "Cobra", prior to succeeding Dave Bickler as the lead singer for "Survivor" in 1983. Their platinum anthem "Eye of the Tiger" (1982) had already brought them commercial success and during Jamison's time as the front-man, they scored Top-Ten hits with "High on You" (1985), "The Search is Over" (1985), "Burning Heart" (1985) and "Is This Love" (1986). During the 1990s, he achieved success as a solo artist with the hit "I'm Always Here", which became the theme song for the TV series "Baywatch". In 2004, Jamison reunited with other "Survivor" band members to record a parody of their hit "Eye of the Tiger" for a Starbucks' TV commercial. They received a Emmy Award nomination. Jamison died from a heart attack.
The entire band rocks...and is stellar... Jimi's voice is a true gift...how he's not a household name like Steve Perry or Lou Gramm etc is beyond me...bcz he's part of that rarified air for sure. Perfect pitch...great tone..phrasing ..range...effortless.....he makes it look easy but these songs are tough...amazing RIP Jimi
I think he beats Perry in terms of how you can UNDERSTAND the lyrics. Perry's voice distorts the words too much. Jimi is able to hold a note and be clear. I used to think Perry was it, but I think the music industry greatly underrated Jamison. Even Gramm had clearer tones than Perry, but he lost his voice as he aged (medical reasons, I think). Jamison kept his voice for the most part until his death.
Jimi Jamison, Steve Perry, and Steve Walsh are the most powerful rock singers of all time, but I gotta give Jimi the honor of having the same powerful voice live as in studio....what a amazing singer he was.
One of the best things is to see the magic of a band coming together to not only play perfectly, but to have fun doing it. I love Jimi's voice and how it is nearly spot-on with the album version, but I also love how all of the guys are having a blast performing this song. I wish that I could have saw them live. RIP, Jimi.
I saw a Survivor in concert at least five times beginning in 1987 and got to see Jimi perform at least as much. I saw Jimi performed 3 weeks before he passed.
Such a beautiful song, one of so many, sung by Jimi. Fantastic songwriting by Jim Peterik and Frankie Sullivan. I'm listening daily to Jimi singing Target, Cobra, Survivor, One Man's Trash, and his numerous solo CDs. Newest CD released August 23, 2024 (recorded 2008), country rock Jimmy Wayne Jamison, is excellent. Songs written by Jim Peterik and produced by Jim Peterik with great liner notes. This fantastically talented man, Jimi, and his powerful voice will never be forgotten. 💕
Jimi Jamison album ready at all times 🙏🏼 💪🏼 🎤. I love how he jumps in on the backup vocal parts as well. Total vocal/breath control & strength. So euphoric on the last “this love affair can’t waaaaaiiit” into the outro. That’s how the 80s do les it baby!!! (Ionian modes 💯✴️💰💡📽)
I didn’t live through the 80’s. I was born in 1999 but absolutely love all the 80’s Bands. Journey and Survivor are 2 of my favorites. Jimi sounded the same in 2013 as he did in the 80’s. Your voice lives on Jimi.
I am a big fan of Jimi since Vital Signs. If you want to hear him at age 17 with the Debuts, just search UA-cam for "The Debuts, If I Cry". It was his first single and his vocals were unbelieveable already at that age. It was on the Scudder label and you could tell already that he was going to have a superstar career.
There will never be another JIMI JAMESON!!!
I'm completely agree!🥺💗
No never will be another like him!😢
Amen!

His voice sounded exactly like in the album. He's that good. Or rather, their generation is that good.
Not an ounce of voice distress or distortion.
Majority of bands through the 80s seemed to sound way better live than studio wish i was alive then lol
One of the best vocalists ever.
The best band of the 80s..the best singer 4--> Rest Jimi
Jimi encompassed the 80s sound in the most beautiful way. He’s missed.
One of the most underrated bands in history Jimi Jamison might have the best natural live voice of all time
One of the best rock voices period !!!!!
Totally Agree! RIP Jimi
Lol...Are you insane?
Feel exactly the same watching the video.
If you like his voice then check out Fergie Frederiksen (Toto, Le Roux and backing vocals on Eye of the Tiger). Sounds 99% the same!
God- THANK YOU for Jimi & Survivor
Jimi Jamison and Steve Perry. The best voices of the '80s! R.I.P. Jimi
So true, i trust.
I could not agree more!

It is SO hard to find someone who can actually sing as great live as in studio. This is awesome.
So very true! I've been on a 80's music kick. Must have been good times.. no social media nonsense
@@LaurenMiddleton28 dont ever let anyone tell you any different ...the 80s were a great time ...especially the early 80s ...in Detroit ..
Absolutely - this live version IS SO AWESOME - I ALWAYS WONDERED SINCE I FIRST HEARD THIS SONG ON THE RADIO IF THEY COULD DUPLICATE IT LIVE!!!!
Sgreed
Freddi Mercury, Elton John, Steve perry, and many others can sing live as good as studios
Jim Peterik once said of Jimi that he was the only singer who could truly turn his written songs into the reality they deserved.
wow I think that was a sign of admiration and respect for Jimi and his beautiful voice!

There's no denying the greatness of Jimi's vocals and how this live version sounds like the studio version. But also, let's acknowledge how rockin' the keyboardist is and how mellow the bass player is.
