DUTCH:
1946. Een Nederlandse soldaat, Johan genaamd, wordt samen met honderdduizend anderen uitgezonden om orde op zaken te stellen in Nederlands-Indië. Gaandeweg raakt Johan in de ban van Raymond Westerling, een charismatische legerkapitein. Wanneer de oorlog escaleert en Westerling het verzet van de bevolking steeds genadelozer neerslaat, wordt de lijn tussen goed en kwaad voor Johan steeds vager.
ENGLISH:
1946. A Dutch soldier named Johan is sent out together with a hundred thousand others to put things in order in the Dutch East Indies. Gradually, Johan falls under the spell of Raymond Westerling, a charismatic army captain. When the war escalates and Westerling crushes the population's resistance more and more mercilessly, the line between good and evil becomes increasingly blurred for Johan.

My mom saw this movie and she remembers this time. My Opa was served in the KNIL during ww2 and the revolution.

As an Indonesian, i really appreciated with this movie.. because, the Raymond Westerling had been killed more than 40 thousand South Sulawesi peoples..
