    For anyone thinking of running in 2024, they've announced some big changes for this year: They're moving the start back up to the Olympic start (up near Crows Nest) so it'll be a much wider start line and downhill for the first couple of km; they're starting at 6am in case we get a repeat of last year's weather; and they've replaced a lot of the loop-backs in Centenial park with a leg down to Kingsford.

      Yes thanks for sharing this info, I heard about this recently also.. should be much better overall especially for those out there for 4 or more hrs! Not sure if I will come back for a while.. I do prefer a flater course but that's because I am very PB driven at this point in time, thanks again for sharing with everyone

      No idea what the thinking was to have marathon starting latest at 8am even 8:30am+ for some runners, was frustrating at the organisation. Other than that, no excuses, was such a tough day and ended up really rewarding.

    Great video and well done! I ran too and it was brutal. From before the start too (I finally got off the platform with 25 mins to go and had no hope of getting through the toilet queue). Good on you for taking the camera and sharing the journey. That's some extra dedication right there!

      We waited for the toilets for 30 min then we thought we’d hold it till the first toilet stop, so we went at 7km 😂

    Jo - such a dedication and I'm thrilled that you take your runs - the ups and the downs with such good spirit. 3 hours and 12 minutes walking the last several kms is something else. Just wait for the perfect run which is just around the corner. Well done. Best Doug

    Wow, impressive run! Great video. I know you brought your own fluids, but did you find there were sufficient fluids along the course? Im running 2024 and was not planning on bringing my own fluids, just my gel. Thank you!

      @Marathon2165 I think it's an earlier start this year so the water stations should be more than adequate for you.. I just kinda like being self sufficient.. have a great race!

    Hey Jo, I'm preparing for my Sydney Marathon 2024. But I'm in the wrong starting wave like you were. How hard was it to jump a fence and get into the correct wave? 😉

    • @topofthemountainfitness7245
      @topofthemountainfitness7245  3 місяці тому

      Not to hard just a quick look to make sure no officials beside you and bounce over.. got to do what you have to do.. otherwise you can usually politely work your way up on the edge of the fence with lots of excuse me I'm in the wrong zone etc... have an epic race!

      @@topofthemountainfitness7245Haha! Nice. I'll give it a go. Don't wanna get stuck behind all the slow runners. Hopefully the timing chip works regardless of starting in the wrong wave. Thanks!

    • @topofthemountainfitness7245
      @topofthemountainfitness7245  3 місяці тому

      @AdamJaffrey it wont start timing as you go across the line regardless..

    • @AdamJaffrey
      @AdamJaffrey 3 місяці тому +1

      @@topofthemountainfitness7245 I assume that's a typo and you meant to say that it *will start timing as you cross the line?

    Never realised that Mrs Macquarie's chair was uphill back to St Mary's/ Parliament house. Not what I expected at the 40km mark.

      We were told by one of the pacers at the expo that last 7km is downhill, I waited for the downhill but it never came lol

    Love this videos that are honest and not super runners.
    45 mins in toilet queue!

  • @zacsborntorunrunningadvent3441

    Gutsy effort bro. Course sounds more way undulating than scm hey. Goldcoast marathon prob one of the fastest & coolest courses in aus. Amazing vibe though with 17,000 participants WOW! 🎉 Cheers
