Wow, I have a 96 Dakota, a nice one. A nice one with the same problems. Pull the headlight switch and all my guages go out. Turn the dimmer all the way down and they come back on but not with the correct reading. Thanks for the video.
@@omxegaming3259you got me beat, mine just rolled over 90. So l think I'll remove the plug, and wire it straight up like he did. Do you have a sagging headliner also?
Same problem on my 94 talked with dealer yes upgrade to led less pwr pull down plus it's actually a poor design of the internal of the switch mechanism or contact pins of the internals its self not makeing proper contact not the plug units the pins can be individually plugged in w/o that plastic cover & being able to breath/vent
Mine has the same problem but a couple wire melted behind the cluster as well, someone did a janky job on the fuse box when connecting some wires I had to fix a bunch but my truck so far has been running solid
My 68 Dart is the same deal bought the proper switch to fix a bypassed original switch . Put the new one on to find the new one gets hot and the connector is and was melted . So my plan was to do exactly what you did .
my 1986 d150 is idling low and missing a little even after a tune up my blinkers work fine unless you cut the headlights on then they do not work just glow can a headlight switch any of these issues
Hey bud love the truck great fits when you first pull that headlight switch did you have a limited amount of wire or did you have to cut it free from the harness up there mine seems awfully short but nothing was messed with still all factory but it did melt my plug as well
@@blocktrowel I've watched a few vids where it looks like the switch just comes out after all the screws are removed, but mine sure didn't. It's as if my wires are really short. I had to do go-go-gadget hands to push the new switch into place. I'm all cut up. It was a nightmare.
Hey man I'm having different issues bad, my light switch was loose and lot of movement, well before I notice it I replaced brake and park tail lights. There was a 40 in the 20 spot and behind my switch I got melted wires about 6in down after switch. Mine are wired just like yours now and started smoking everytime I start it. Radio and dash doesn't work now and dome light and annoying rapid ding stays on when key is in or out of ignition and even door closed still going off. I don't have tail lights now and headlights still work. I replaced little fuses in door box panel. I'm lost for words spent 2500 on it and it just started a week after driving it. I need help plz?
Hey man how you doing? I have a problem with the headlights of my 1992 D350. They don’t turn on and every time I pull de switch my radio turn off. Can you help me out?
i changed mine and everything and my problem got worse. i used to be able to pull the headlight switch just a little tiny bit and the tail lights and running lights would work but not the headlights, pull it all the way out then only headlights
Hey whats going on I had the exact same problem as you and I had a buddy of mine look at it he found it was a blown 20amp fuse that really didn't look blown in the fuse panel he also cleaned up the pigtail connector and reinstalled with dielectric grease and everything is working great now you probably have the same problem
@@adalh.castro4432 its one of the 20 amp fuses im not exactly sure which one my friend did it for me while I was at work maybe change all the 20 ampers or one at a time until your lights are back working

Curious if your headlight fix is still holding up or if the current overload issue has caused anymore problems.
Yes it’s still holding up with no issues so far
