    Kaylee and Jordan, I remember when my son was born years ago, the surge of intense love that I felt as soon as he was placed on my chest. It's a love I never knew was possible and it never leaves. It makes me tear up just typing this. Your love for each other is so beautiful. Also, I was a flight attendant for 25 years you would be in good hands. Just press that call light! LOL

    I had my baby 5 weeks ago. I wanted to do a at home water birth with a midwife. I ended up going into labor and going through it at home in the pool. My baby ended up falling into the wrong position to the side and Sunnyside up when she broke my water so I pushed for like 6 hours with no progress. Ended up transferring to the hospital and getting a c section. I remember telling my son in my tummy before he was born that I was okay with how ever he wanted to come even if it needed to be a c section. It really helped me gain a lot of peace with what happened. Sending lots of love to you guys during this exciting time💖

    I'm from the Netherlands and homebirth with a midwife is a pretty normal thing here. I had both of my sons in the comfort of my one home and that was an awesome experience.However its very inportant to have access to a hospital when things are not going according to plan.

      I read a book that my doula gave me to read before having my 2nd at home and it opened my eyes to the fact that America is leading (out of industrialized, 1st world countries) in mother and infant deaths due to the Westernized hospital 'service' that they receive! I think most Americans would be SHOCKED to find out just how barbaric our 'system' treats a natural, beautiful process such as pregnancy and birth like it's a disease, instead of how most of Europe and the like are more natural in their approach. The humanity of birthing has been removed by our modern, Western methods. (Nice name BTW, I'm an "Ingrid" as well!)

    • @helenparker4686
      @helenparker4686 3 роки тому +2

      Yep, not unusual in the UK too. And midwives are always involved in the birth wherever it is. In my case I had the most intervention you can get without a C-section as I got to 16 days overdue and had to be induced on a drip, so I had a "Consultant led" birth. But even then I met him for 5 minutes and it was otherwise midwife led. You are young, fit and healthy so why not try it ( I was 38 and not so healthy)? You can still access hospital if need be. I had no choice but really didn't enjoy my hospital experience. Also intrigues me that people are wondering why you don't marry first, that's up to you!

    • @therockingstitcher
      @therockingstitcher 3 роки тому +6

      Exactly! I could’ve posted this. Two kids, home births, Netherlands. Americans can really make a birth into a scary thing. It’s a natural beautiful thing and yes there could be complications, but they’re less likely than a natural process. A hospital not too far away is good enough. You can do it if that’s what you want Kaylee.

      Likewise, 2 beautiful Dutch homebirths here. It's not roulette, there's a strict protocol. There are many checks in advance to make sure it's completely safe and there is a strict protocol to follow when progress at home is not as expected.
      Remember that Hospitals are not always the safest place for different reasons (infections, medical error, swapping). Birth is a natural, not a medical thing. For sure it's required to have knowledge around, hence the midwives. Beautiful people. Can only recommend.

They are usually beautiful with private birthing rooms that is like a small hotel room with a place for dad to stay as well. That way if you have to go there you will know what to expect and your anxiety level will be less. Hopefully your home birth will be successful, it's a beautiful way to bring new life into the world.

Hopefully when the time comes to have the next one you can do it in Panama. It will be great for the child in the future if they live in America to say they were born in another country.
    I know people here in Thailand that have like 5 kids and every one of them was born in a different country and their names reflect the country they were born in. I think that's kind of neat.

    My mom was a midwife, but unfortunately passed away (cancer) before I had my first baby. The midwife who trained her and who had my mom deliver her baby, offered to be my midwife, so I had a homebirth with my son, 17 years ago. I ended up having a homebirth at my dad's house because my ex and I had separated, and it was magical and also the hardest thing I've ever done. I was in labour for 80+ hours, but there were no complications, and I'm sure if I'd been in a hospital it would have ended in a c-section due to the length of labouring and how slowly it progressed, so no regrets. Listen to your body, listen to your heart. You've got this.

      @glennedwards1449 3 роки тому +1

      @@BPDBRETT I agree though childbirth at home is relatively safe there is no doubt that a hospital is safer for both the mother and child. Plus I wonder if this full and frank discussion discussed the level of pain and other fun titbits like pooping herself vaginal tears etc I mean as a bonding experience it rates up there with front line combat
      With my last wife they wanted to deliver on the ward not the delivery rooms this at the time was inexplicable to me since the Delivery rooms were empty and their reasoning was what if a pregnant woman came in for an emergency well there was a pregnant woman upstairs in Labour. I actually forced them to do so as I told them that then I would discharge the wife them wheel her down to the delivery room as an emergency where they would have no choice as cant admit a woman in active labour to a ward. Plus the other woman would be spooked having to listen to my wife give birth.
      Later I worked it out in that my wife had told them that she wasn't sure of the paternity and I may kick off and a ward was safer for the staff. She was not aware that I knew she did not know who the dad was and if it was literally her other "Husband" due to skin colour it would be evident the second the baby was born. However even with the questionable paternity I made sure she got a proper delivery room with all the equipment there and in privacy because this gave her and the baby the best possible chance. BTW I found out many years later she had arranged a place to stay if it had come out the wrong colour. I also say husband because they were married in a religious and not legal ceremony and she was even sending him money. Also at the time a Pre natal paternity test carried a small but significant chance of hurting the baby and I also did not want to stress out a pregnant woman.

    My oldest daughter got pregnant last year in the spring. She was 37 at the time, and planned everything just the way you have, with a dula and midwife, except she was going to birth at a birthing center. When she went into labor everything went south quickly and she couldn’t do any of the things she planned, and had an emergency c-section on Christmas Eve. My deepest wish and hope for you is that all your plans work perfectly for you and your little one!

      This is very true. In the middle of my home birth, I hit a moment of panic when the head was having issues coming through fully. I looked at her in a mild panic and she just smiled reassuringly and told me that I was doing great. No barking of orders, no condemnation, no telling me to remove people from the room...just a quiet, calm professional cheerleader, only stepping in and telling me what to do when it was necessary. Her psychological support was more than I expected, which ALSO freed up my husband to just experience it with me, instead of having to be responsible for my mental health...which also made the process more wonderful for the father-to-be! :-)
