Stacy really inspires me. Though she didn't give much detail about her diagnosis n treatment, I love the fact that she was visiting the doctor aside praying at Edumfa. Its really important. Most people just pray without going to the hospital but that's bad. That kills. If you have any beliefs whatsoever, still seek medical attention aside the prayers. Thank you Stacy.

    When in doubt, RESEARCH yourself:
In most cases, cervical cancer is caused by a sexually transmitted infection called human papillomavirus (HPV). If you've never had any type of sexual intercourse, you're unlikely to have HPV. However, there are other risk factors for developing cervical cancer, such as family history and smoking, so talk to your doctor if you have concerns.
For effective cervical cancer screening, many organizations recommend an initial Pap smear at age 21. Discuss when to begin cervical cancer screening with your doctor. Together you can decide what's best for your particular situation.
----------------------- Most health care organizations recommend women begin regular Pap testing at age 21. If you're a virgin - meaning you haven't had sexual (vaginal) intercourse - you may have a low risk of cervical cancer, but you can still consider testing.
The purpose of a Pap smear is to collect cells from your cervix, which is the lower end of your uterus. The cells collected in a Pap smear can detect if you have cervical cancer or suspicious cells that indicate you may develop cervical cancer.

This is a bad interview. First and foremost, cervical cancer is not diagnosed by the look on your doctor’s face. She was told she COULD have cervical ca but never did the Pap smear for fear of bad news. For all you know the test would have been negative. But let’s assume it was positive, definitive treatment for cervical ca is not diet and prayers. Lastly, please let’s not discourage our women from going in for family planning methods. Thank you.

I don't know why people jumping into conclusion.
IUD doesn't cause cervical cancer, however anyone who have researched or experienced the side effects of IUD knows that IUD can cause Pelvis Inflammatory disease PID, and PID can cause cervical cancer.
Also IUD can cause ovarian cysts which can cause ovarian cancer and many other complications as uterine Proferation etc.....
I think if we take our time and research on topic we will be more knowledgeable about many things rather than backlashing people who have experienced certain disorders or research on them.

I agree with you on the fact that IUD does not cause cancer and that IUD can perforate the uterus although this is rare.
However, for clarification and public education purposes only.....
IUD does NOT cause PID. It is a RISK for STI. This means that in the setting of having IUD inserted and being exposed to a semen infected with gonorrhoea and chlamydia, one has an increased chance of getting infected. That is why women are married to a man with other wives or those who are uncertain of being in monogamous relationships are NOT offered IUD as a contraceptive option.
Also PID is mainly caused by gonorrhoea and chlamydia which are STIs. Sometimes women with PID may also have HPV in addition. It is the HPV which could lead to cervical cancer. On rare occasions, PID may be cause by other organisms which are not STIs and those organisms DOES not lead to cervical cancer

I truly believe the way we Ghanaian women clean "ourselves" need to change..some people believe that inserting finger and herbs are way to clean sometimes. HPV is a wart which you can have on hand, so not only sex but women can expose themselves..by inserting finger to clean "inside " . These herbs can have viruses that is unknown and can cause cancer.

I think she should do an introspection and ask herself if she is being true to herself. Cervical cancer is caused by HPV which is sexually transmitted. Other factors could be enablers for the persistence or transmission of the virus. Yesterday, my wife was alarmed and wanted to get rid of her IUD but because I am an enlightened person, i googled and found out what Stacy said was absolutely false. Madam, if u want to be an advocate for Cervical cancer, make sure u say the right things. Please dont cause fear and panic. Breakfast daily also has an obligation to educate. Make sure you research on topics before you interview people. Dont behave like dumb people. We need a rejoinder on this.

Are you aware IUD too can cause Pelvis Inflammatory disease PID and PID isn't only cause by STI.
PID can cause cervical cancer my dear.
So let's research more before backlashing others.
To add up IUD can cause ovarian cysts which can result to ovarian cancer.
Am not only talking as an advocate of women reproductive health issues. I am also a testimony of an IUD complications (resulting in uterine perforation and ovarian cysts).
This is what motivated me to do more research on IUD...

      Speciallady awareness
I can understand that when you google PID and cervical cancer, you will likely see a connection but if you go ahead and open the whole article and read through, you will see that it is actually HPV in the setting of PID that could lead to cervical cancer. PID and HPV are STIs but only HPV infection out of the other STIs ( gonorrhoea and chlamydia) could lead to cervical cancer
MAJORITY of PID are actually STIs caused by Gonorrhoea and Chlamydia. Unless a woman who has gonorrhoea or chLamydia also has HPV which is also an STI, her PID will not lead to cervical cancer. This means that what actually increases the risk of cervical cancer in PID is if there is HPV infection as well. Some PIDs are caused by other organisms apart from gonorrhoea and chlamydia but these are rare does and they do lead to cervical cancer. What this means is that inserted IUD + STI-infected semen is a bad combination. That’s why at family planning counselling , IUD is NOT recommended for women who are in polygamous relationships or those exposed to multiple partners or are uncertain of the STI risk of their partners
It is good to do some research and in addition talk to your healthcare provider and have all your questions answered. This way, you can get the best family planning option based on your medical and social circumstances. Reading from google ALONE or just being passive about what is offered to you by a healthcare provider without having some information is obviously NOT the best

Ok, I am confused about Stacy's story. I thank God for your life and bringing you back to good health because any form of ill health is difficult to deal with. However, there are holes in your story. Throughout the interview, you didn't state that you were actually diagnosed through pap smear test, biopsy or any definitive test that you had cervical cancer. It looks like the copper corroded and from the reaction of the health personnel after the removal of the IUD, you all concluded that you have cervical cancer. Again, you didn't undergo any form of medical treatment but you were healed by changing your diet and turning to God? Hmmm we hear. Cervical cancer is mainly caused by exposure to HPV. Early signs include spotting in between periods, bleeding after sex, painful sex, heavy and prolonged menses etc. Ladies, schedule to have a Pap smear test every 3 years so that abnormal cells at the cervix could be detected early. The good news is that cervical cancer can be effectively treated if discovered early. Stay safe.

Apparently, she didn't make a clarification whether or not she was diagnosed with cervical cancer and whether she received treatment or not.
Well, I think she just want to talk about her survival story from an estranged illness other than the substantive issue.
Nothing she said here is fit for medical discussion and no lessons can be learnt.
The prayer part was because she feared to die and didn't want to die.. And if she was gonna die, should would have died regardless of prayers...
