Guy be aware that these are two different tyre types!! Front is an old supermoto tyre named Sportmax Mutant and rear is the brand new Mutant ( not Sportmax ) crossover tyre, this one is also awailable in 120/70/17 for front but is a different tyre that the one you mounted...
Now that would be cool, or maybe a top hat with the goggles on the front and a big feather (but that may need a chin strap because I think this bike is quite fast lol)
you ever think of doing a project with the Honda Magna V4? Proper Muscle cruiser that is. would be great to see a performance oriented build on that platform. Either 4th or 5th gen would do.
I have a question can you go over how you get the tyres road worthy when they are new like these. I know there are many ways but I would like your opinion on this. I am getting new tyres on my bike soon and I know they feel different and ever having new tyres I am not really sure what to watch for or do.
Absolutely, just measure the distance from the back of the axle block to the back of the swingarm, you can get it down to 1/2mm which is more than close enough.
Congrats Del! Those tires look great--remind me a little bit of Bridgestone Battlewings, not sure if they make those anymore. Seems like perhaps you're not enjoying this build too much anymore, or perhaps you're tired of people's reactions. Very sorry if that's the case but I've loved every minute of it! Always a risk when you try to build something unique that some won't like it.
Hi Vivek, I can assure you mate, I'm by no means tired of it, I'm loving every minute, but certainly there are many people who find it a little too hardcore for their conventional tastes, you know how it is, to some people a modification is a tank pad and some hot grips, but the vast majority of our viewers love it and it'll continue here and there alongside the new project which begins in a week or so! Glad you enjoy it, lots more to come, it'll look a lot different year from now, just an evolving project!
yeah , I see it . Tkc80s you've had , and probably not the best on a busa. I like the mutants , look forward to your review but I'm sure they'll be just great. I reckon your tyre guy knows his stuff. Just found you several weeks ago and I watch all the time. I focus on the HD vids but I jump around alot too. I notice a lack of Penny on your new vids, has she parted with the project? I miss her. Thanks for what you do, I wish I had your wrenching skills. Love from the States brother.

Hi del really enjoyed your video the bikes looking very nice indeed cant wait till it's done. Trying to guess the next project. I'm halfway through my project and was looking to up the tyre size on the rear as its abit small and wanted to beef it up. Any idea if this is possible putting this out to everyone if they know. My tyre is a 130/90-15 M/C.
Hi mate, as far as I know, you are pretty limited with tyre choice with 15" rims, you could possibly go to 140, but depends very much on the clearance beside your current tyre with things like the chain and other hardware... your tyre needs 3mm of clearance on the chain at least, and about the same on everything else, so measure what you have... if a tyre is 10mm wider (like a 140mm) then obviously that's 5mm each side, so you need at least 8mm of clearance to put a 140 in there... but for an expert opinion, why not contact Lee at EMJ Tyres in the link below the video, I'm sure he'll know what safe and possible for your bike.
Understable, but to be specifc and maybe pedantic, new is the last thing they were, they may have had lots of tread, which gives the impression of them being new, but they were 8yrs old according to the date codes and gone pretty hard especially on the edges, plus the rear one was way too big for the wheel!

Now that would be cool, or maybe a top hat with the goggles on the front and a big feather (but that may need a chin strap because I think this bike is quite fast lol)
Karoo 3 might have looked good aswel, but those look awesome.
Great looking tires, they fit the look
Looking like a retro GSXR now.
love that wide tyre. must feel nice leaning on the corner
Love the look, I put some similar to this on my Harley.
Well picked Del. Nice unz..
Spot on choice Del!!👌👌
Nice semi dirt tyre. Quite often used for flat track racing and supermoto them 👍
@UCShlV7W8ypR2UCzz5_HobxA The word semi in our fine English language means partial or incomplete. 👍
you ever think of doing a project with the Honda Magna V4? Proper Muscle cruiser that is. would be great to see a performance oriented build on that platform. Either 4th or 5th gen would do.
I have a question can you go over how you get the tyres road worthy when they are new like these. I know there are many ways but I would like your opinion on this. I am getting new tyres on my bike soon and I know they feel different and ever having new tyres I am not really sure what to watch for or do.
Love that tread pattern
I just ordered these tyres for Bandit 1200.
Cool, did you order them from EMJ?
@@Moonfleet41 nahh mate... from Bihr which is supplier for our shop. BTW love all your vids keep up the good work!!!
thanks for the tip on back wheel measurement when tensioning a chain
Mad max on steroids. Love it.
I want to take that thing off roading:) Just curious you find the way you did the chain alignment more effective than the cheap chain alignment tools?
Absolutely, just measure the distance from the back of the axle block to the back of the swingarm, you can get it down to 1/2mm which is more than close enough.
Del u wernt wrong mate them tyres are lovely
👍👍👍👍👍
U sure you didnt have them specially made for the wasteland busa???
Sure thing mate, ain't they awesome, can't believe I found them!
@@Moonfleet41 most def are awesome
They look as if they were specially made
Bravo on the choice
I like the slightly vintage look. .Maybe next time I need boots on Ruby ?
ok buddy , well done keep on keeping on and peace and Love 👍🏻☮❤
Peace n' luv buddy... Reckon these tyres are going to be popular... there's a link under the description, give him a shout, get yourself a price!
@@Moonfleet41 will do buddy reckon I can last the summer but will need doing for winter ..and they look like they'll be good for water dispersal ..and they look retro which I like very much 👍🏻☮❤
the tires look great. shouldn't the sprocket be on the rim for balancing?
Nope, it's a detachable part of the rim, and wheel weights are not there to compensate for the sprocket carrier... wheels are dynamically balanced without the carrier fitted.
How do the tyres perform as looking to put them on my bike ?
Well so far i like them, they seem to perform like any other tyres, wet or dry, they just grip and get on with the job. .
Just found you several weeks ago and I watch all the time. I focus on the HD vids but I jump around alot too. I notice a lack of Penny on your new vids, has she parted with the project? I miss her. Thanks for what you do, I wish I had your wrenching skills. Love from the States brother.
Hi Louis, thank you for your kind support, Penny is still around, she helps with post production, planning and other logistics of the channel... just not on the screen anymore! Thank you so much for your support, it's much appreciated!
Don't like wishing my life away but two weeks ok. You & Penny stay safe. All the best.
Thanks mate, really appreciate the encouragement and hope you'll approve of the choice! Stay safe and well during these odd times, D&Px
They are the business del
@@Moonfleet41 Thanks del yeah I think I'll give him a call and discuss it thanks for your help appreciate it. Stay safe both of you take care.
Why did you unbolt calipers?
Those old tires still look new. Lol.
Understable, but to be specifc and maybe pedantic, new is the last thing they were, they may have had lots of tread, which gives the impression of them being new, but they were 8yrs old according to the date codes and gone pretty hard especially on the edges, plus the rear one was way too big for the wheel!
@@Moonfleet41 I hear you Mr. Del!! I know better than that to question the professor. Lol. Yes sir.
Where will the reg plate go?
Quick one Del........where did you get the storage drawers for your bolts, the red drawer system that's on the bench in the corner??
They came from Machine Mart buddy.. not sure if they still sell them, it was a pretty long time ago.
@@Moonfleet41 thanks Del/Penny, will have a butchers on the website and see if I can find them.....
Great build i have watched from the start, but I think you need a seat !!!😉
All planned mate, stick with the project, all to come! ;-)
