Good sound and demo. It helps greatly that there is so much space in this song, but you nailed the point home about how to track with this plug. I'd love to see a similar demo tracking with the Voxbox going in with drum overheads or a vocalist. Also, newbies might want to learn that you could alternatively split the signal coming in the DAW so one track would have the channel strip and one would be a clean signal that could be edited later...perhaps reamped in Oceans Way.
Those guitar tones have those spiky 2khz-3khz I hear all the time when recording through the Hi-Z of Apollo stuff and using Amp Sims. It make having smooth/realistic tones very hard (possible but way harder).
Have you found any tips you can share? Im really trying to get as good a tone as I can through amp sim but I have to admit Im not overly crazy about anything yet, thanks man
I bought the Twin X recently, but I'm having trouble co-ordinating console with Logic Pro in terms of hearing my guitar with plugins in Logic engaged, as well as when I try to connect my external guitar pedals to the Twin X, I hear nothing but squealing. Can you please explain what I need to do so I can begin using the product? Thank you!
Just curious, when running the Marshall, why is it better to run the Century as an insert instead of an input? Is the Marshall (or any other amp plug in) better in the input section of console?
I don't understand why my setup doesn't give me this kind of volume? I use a Fender Precision Bass straight into my Apollo Twin mkII HI-Z input, and I get a pretty quiet sound until I turn it up too much that it becomes hissy. When I engage a plug-in, the UA 610-b for example, I basically hear nothing. My headphones are turned up, same if I were to monitor through my monitors. There has to be something either wrong with my bass, or I've messed something up in the Apollo Twin or Console. Any insight?

Wait. He plugged the bass into the Hi-Z input on the Arrow. Why is the MIC//LINE switch on the Tube Preamp section of the plug-in set to the MIC position?
@@UniversalAudio -- I'm using an Apollo x6 with UAD-2 Satellite Quad Core. If I set the MIC//LINE switch on the Century Tube Channel Strip to MIC when I have a guitar plugged into HI-Z 1 or HI-Z 2 on the Apollo x6, I get sheer grunge because the input is being way overdriven.
It indeed gives a nice saturation, but I've tried it today and I can't get it to my DAW. Since it is in unison mode, the input in Protools also is saturated and it doesn't sound like it sounds before recording. How can you get the Unison preamp saturated with the Century Tube and translate that sound into a recorder version in a DAW, because I've tried and I simply can't get it.

my bass DI level is way too low but it should be line level right? cant really et any signal when playing. only when I use the channels trip as a unison preamp though. If I use it as a normal effect, its all fine
Is this a UA demo? I don't hear any death metal type OD/Dist and screeching/shredding solos. (in all seriousness, please keep going in this direction guys. the 80/90s have been over for a long time...)
It’s music dude get over yourself I WISH they’d demo proper deathcore in the BMTH, If I Were You, ABR style of tracking. It’s MUSIC, not a time period!
I stretched my budget to afford a $899 Apollo Interface which does not incline me to spend an additional $99 just to get basic recording functionality with this plug-in.
Your Apollo comes with the 610 preamp. You aleady have basic functionality plus options. You must be a bit new to not truly appreciate that you would have had to pay $899 just for one hardware preamp channel a few years back.
So you are that type of guy... people are never happy these days. Even when they get free education they complain, just take the free tips and be happy.
Why, I do appreciate the content, but I don't think things being free makes them exempt to criticism, and hopefully they'll improve and get it better next time.
I record my vocals through this plugin and I love the results!
Wow....what a breath of FRESH air..he and his music is soooo smooth and....um....adult like?...Imagine that!.. Totally inspirational ...thank you UA!
Love how he started rocking out when the distortion was kicking in. Pure Joy!
I got this for free with my Apollo solo heritage Edition !! It was an extra promotion !!
👍🏻

love the century tube
This was a great no nonsense example video Ben. Sounded great and enjoyed the changes explained too! Thanks!
No sé si alguien más ha notado el groove increíble que tiene Ben Lindell y cómo mueve perfectamente a tempo la cabeza con la canción! jajaja. Genial!
Nice! Thanks. I'd love to see the whole operation, from wiring inputs to finished mix using this and apollo. Cheers.
Very helpful. Just what I was looking for.
👍🏻
That was awesome! I cant wait to use it!
I like this cat! Nice vid/vibe

Yes on guitars, not so much on bass. I have ditched using a bass amp since I got my Apollo. Guitars still go through an amp/mic.
@@gravityfreaksmusic Agree, on bass it's less problematic. Which is logical regarding the problematic frequencies.

You can always do a little subtractive E.Q. to cut the harshness out?
BEN THIS TRACK IS BEAUTIFUL

Ben Rules!!
This is gonna be VERY useful now that I got it for free...
Ben, that was smooth AF!!!!
Thanks!!
Hey guys - is there a special reason master is at max? No problem with gain stacking in the DAW?
I enjoyed that! Way to go, Ben!
Great demo, thanks! In the guitar part, why do you have the first switch on "mic" for the first part and on "line" for the second part?
I just ask for the same question...
dude! gibson sg firebrand! high five!
Hi thanks for this vid! Why are you in Mic mode while recording Bass and in Line mode while recording Guitar?
Why are there ads on your UA-cam channel? It's weird considering the level of brand you have
Just curious, when running the Marshall, why is it better to run the Century as an insert instead of an input? Is the Marshall (or any other amp plug in) better in the input section of console?
fire. thank you!
I can't press the big knob on the Apollo Twin to setup gain staging and changing to the other knobs ?
Great tutorials , just WISH they'd do them using PLUGINS INCLUDED w/ Apollo for instance..TY
This one is included!
Not for me ! 2 week demo, unless that's what you mean! Trying to get rid of ALL THE NON PLUGINS, it's a process
I bought the heritage edition that came with this and a lot of other mic preamps

Because the plug doesn't have a dedicated HiZ in like an amp sim would.

smmmmmmooooooth
So, is there a preamp built into the UAD hardware or do you technically always use a preamp plugin when, say, recording guitar through the hi Z input?

Gabriel Gonzalez why would you waste using UA gear on recording that? Record it in your moms basement.
Abr and if I were you have great production quality, gtfo of here

Red Bird True.

Cool I want to see that
Ben is god
Fat warm and punchy hey? After a few beers maybe.
Never trust advice from a guy who hasn't restrung his bass correctly.
5:36
Nevermind the guitar and bass sound, the guy's voice sounds painful to listen to, overall boomy, and ice-pick-sounding esses
"painful to listen to" are we watching the same video? Sounds good on my monitors
It's boomy, it lacks mid range and the esses are very sharp sounding.
You might be watching a different video though.
