Warner brothers reused General Lee dodge Chargers in other films/productions most notably Gladiator (1980's movie) & Forever Young (mel Gibson flick) and the camrea was added for the rear seat driver system, so that someone can sit in the back seat & drive the car, making it look as if he was driving himself

Yeah Monte Carlo gas tank was on the fender along with fat goodyear radials the light was supposed to have a cover on it thats the only thing wrong.
