In 1981, six years after joining Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks went solo for the first time with her debut album ‘Bella Donna’. A massive success, it sold more than five million copies in the U.S., topped the album charts and produced four hit singles, including her signature anthem, "Edge Of Seventeen." More platinum albums followed - ‘The Wild Heart’ (1983), ‘Rock A Little’ (1985), and ‘The Other Side Of The Mirror’ (1989).
In 2019, Stevie Nicks made history by becoming the first female artist inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice - first as a member of Fleetwood Mac in 1998, and most recently in recognition of an extraordinary solo career that spans nearly 40 years.

She mentions in an interview, she felt that this song needed something but couldn't figure it out. She called Prince and he played the piano, (recorded it) and left. She said it was magical!

that song she mentioned was 'Stand Back' not 'Edge of Seventeen'
She said it was when she had her honeymoon with her best friend's husband (she died of cancer and Stevie proposed to raising her newborn child which causes her to marry her husband for legal concerns, i forgot his name sorry), while they were driving, the music was playing on the radio, and it was Prince's 'Little Red Corvette', then she called him during that night and the rest is history....at least that's how I've heard.

Just like the white winged dove
    Sings a song
    Sounds like she's singing
    Who who who
Just like the white winged dove
    Sings a song
    Sounds like she's singing
    Oh baby oh said oh
    And the days go by
Like a strand in the wind
In the web that is my own
    I begin again
    Said to my friend, baby
    Nothin' else mattered
He was no more than a baby then
    Well he seemed broken hearted
    Something within him
But the moment that I first laid
    Eyes on him all alone
    On the edge of seventeen
Just like the white winged dove
    Sings a song
    Sounds like she's singing
    Oh baby oh said oh
Just like the white winged dove
    Sings a song
    Sounds like she's singing
    Oh baby oh said oh
I went today maybe I will go again
    Tomorrow
And the music there it was hauntingly
    Familiar
    And I see you doing
What I try to do for me
With the words from a poet
And the voice from a choir
And a melody nothing else mattered
Just like the white winged dove
    Sings a song
    Sounds like she's singing
    Oh baby oh said oh
Just like the white winged dove
    Sings a song
    Sounds like she's singing
    Oh baby oh said oh
    The clouds never expect it
    When it rains
    But the sea changes colors
    But the sea
    Does not change
And so with the slow graceful flow
    Of age
I went forth with an age old
    Desire to please
    On the edge of seventeen
Just like the white winged dove
    Sings a song
    Sounds like she's singing
    Oh baby oh said oh
Just like the white winged dove
    Sings a song
    Sounds like she's singing
    Oh baby oh said oh
    Well then suddenly
There was no one left standing
    In the hall yeah yeah
    In a flood of tears
That no one really ever heard fall at all
Oh I went searchin' for an answer,
Up the stairs and down the hall
    Not to find an answer
    Just to hear the call
    Of a nightbird singing
    Come away come away
Just like the white winged dove
    Sings a song
    Sounds like she's singing
    Oh baby oh said oh
Just like the white winged dove
    Sings a song
    Sounds like she's singing
    Oh baby oh said oh
Well I hear you in the morning
    And I hear you
    At nightfall
    Sometime to be near you
Is to be unable to hear you
    My love
I'm a few years older than you
Just like the white winged dove
    Sings a song
    Sounds like she's singing
    Oh baby oh said oh

This is one of the first songs I ever clearly remember hearing on the radio. I couldn't have been much older than 6 or 7 and it always stood out to me, especially that final verse. The way the voices play off of each other only to come together, is stunning. This song just hits all the right notes and strikes every meaningful chord. I really hope Stevie and Co. understand why this song is so special to so many. So glad to have this remastered version available.

Suffering from a cold and decided to seek comfort indulging in the sheer wonder and brilliance that is Stevie Nicks. Two hours and half a bottle of whisky later I just don't want to stop. Enchanting, mesmerising and breathtaking. I can only imagine the wonderful privilege it would it be if one were a part of Stevie's circle of friends. Can you imagine that ? For me her presence, her aura her beauty would be overwhelming, intoxicating. One of my life's regrets will be never seeing Stevie perform in real life. So this channel is the next best thing I guess...Peace and love to all fans from Australia, but most of all peace and love to the queen of music royalty, Stevie Nicks.

Cause it has been flattened with compression, which is not a good thing.
Remasters are mostly about making things louder, which ruins the peaks.

@@kommi1974 No, he is right, compression is a big part of remastering. The mids have been boosted at the expense of peak volumes, which is why people say "the instruments are clearer." I don't think much was changed with the vocals here though, which is why they sound a bit buried moreso than the origiinal.

Stevie Nicks, you are my hero. I'm 58, I sing and play piano (these days, just alongside you and Christine on UA-cam a lot), and I am so inspired by you, as are so many other female musicians. You blazed the trail. Thank you for all the awesome music through the years. Your music is the soundtrack of my life, and for so many others. too. And you're still just as beautiful as ever. How do you not even show your age? Reveal your secret!

Agent J it’s sad that someone as old as you, puts in the time to make someone that’s three times less your age feel bad about themselves. You sound like a broken, cold hearted person. Again I hope the best for someone like you, but realistically your just digging your own god damn dark depressing ass hole

I hope when I get to your age I don’t hate myself that much that I feel the need to go on the internet & bring other people down.
