Hearing these songs and seeing these pictures make me confident that EarthBound 64 would've been Nintendo's Final Fantasy VII. As much as I absolutely love the MOTHER 3 we got, I think part of me will always wonder what the 64 version would've been like.

I never played EB64 (obviously) but I spent countless hours reading about it, looking over every screenshot, speculating on what could have and what was lost. The pictures bring me back to a time when I had nothing else to worry about except whether I'd get to play EB64 one day, a simpler time, a happy time. For me, that's enough to be nostalgic over.

I wish this game released. My earthbound-fanatic phase was like 3 years ago but I still hope we see some build of this at some point. maybe even multiple.
Hahaha my earthbound phase came back after playing Mother 3 for the first time (i’m incapable to think about anything except for earthbound & mother 3)
I hope that the full ost of EB64 is leaked, that'll be interesting to see how many songs that were carried over into the gba release and the ones we never heard until the discovery since this games sound track has so many good tracks!
Considering how high quality the music is for the GBA, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the music from the 64 version made it over - albeit highly compressed.
Almost everything from the 64 version carried over to the Gba version (except all the songs that have the love theme in them). Only changes Im sure of is that almost all the songs were compressed in some way, New Pork City being one of those songs that was severely compressed (I think Shogo Sakai said that in an interview)
It's so sad to see how this game ended... I'm not even sure who suffered more by the cancelation: Shigesato Itoi or us, the fans, I hope that somebody is able to put their hand in a copy of the beta of the game, or I hope the staff of Ape and etc just throws us the files... It's impossible at this point, but we mother fans learned to have hope
Man, I always wondered how it would be if it was released. Imagine how good the story and new ideas would've been, I sometimes believe that EB64 would've been better than the GBA version even though it didn't have the Love Theme.
Feeling like you'll play as flint alone for half the game seems so badass. Such a cool idea honestly comparing to playing as a 12 year old kid for like 95% of the game in mother 3.
bro flint wouldve been such a goated Mother protagonist. he will always be my favorite. he COULDVE kicked ass in mother 3 alongside the protagonist but he spent years looking for his son just because that's the kind of character he is
11:01 to whomever made this great-looking mock-up, you probably should know that Lucas’s Japanese name is リュカ (Ryuka), which sounds more like “Luca.” I would guess it’s probably still officially transcribed into English as “Lucas,” even in Japanese but idk.
Didn't expect this to be as good as it was. Honestly really breathtaking and chock full of emotion. I've never been super interested in EB64 stuff because the thought of a world without the Mother 3 we got genuinely scares me but if the game was anything like this... lord knows i'd play it forever.

what do you mean? the first half of mother 3 is playing as the side characters first, at most the game is 50%-60% lucas
