@@Alemaniaturquia duran was a third of the way down the baseline when the catch was about to be made, which was a mistake since he would've had to tag up if it was caught, and certainly would not have made it home in time.
Fenway left field is very strange they were playing O’Neil deep. So Swanson was the only one who could make the play and that wasn’t an easy one. Good game though

I never, ever understand why an outfielder coming in towards the ball doesn’t call off the infielder in these type of plays. Make the easy catch, not the showreel running backwards catch. And if you need to throw to the plate, the outfielder has the momentum.
I thought Boston's bullpen was about to give the game away.
Without the redsox there is no MLB 💯.

As someone who has watched hundreds of Cubs games, I saw them doing the Bad News Cubs thing in the bottom of the First, and so I just skipped to the last inning to see how they would lose.
I was not disappointed.

Even if Swanson caught that ball there is no way he is throwing the runner out at home.
dude at third was half way down the path, Dansby could have easily doubled him off if caught. Just sayin
@@curtiskent3993 Duran should've been ready to tag. If it's dropped he'd have scored easily even if still on the base and pretty good chance he scores if caught. If he was tagging up, Cubs best chance would probably be for Swanson to catch and then flip the ball to Happ to fire home with momentum, which would be a cool play.
@@curtiskent3993 That's an exaggeration. No way he's able to throw it back to 3B in time while running towards the infield like that. Plus, there was nobody covering 3B anyway.
He was not getting Duran with his speed. Another guy in base yes But Duran is Road Runner
@@curtiskent3993 if he caught the ball standing up maybe, but he was sliding so he would have had to throw home from his knees, and since no one was covering third he couldn’t relay with a cutoff.
This one is on the front office. We don't have a closer. Nobody can handle the pressure of a 9th inning tie game on the Cubs bullpen. It's been proved again & again in the last seasons.
I think we all may expect someone of Swansons stature to catch that ball. Although i still think he isn’t the one who should’ve ran after it

The Red Sox can’t even count this series as a win, the Red Sox weren’t even playing the cubs real team. Most of the cubs players are injured, the Red Sox just basically played the JV team of the cubs.
Red Sox have been injured all season. Story out for the year. Casas out for 2 months. Multiple pitchers out like Pivetta, Whitlock, and Liam Hendricks. Devers and O'Neil just came back from being out for almost 2 weeks. And how can you not call this a fair series win, when the Sox won 17-0 the second game.
@@christianlevesque8026 Same for the cubs. The cubs have there 3 best players out, this would be Steele, Bellinger, and Suzuki. Wicks is injured along with Maryweather. Maryweather was our solid closer.

@@addisonfrance Just because it's catchable doesn't mean it's an error. If a dude scales the fence and it hits the tip of his glove and is still a home run, that's not an error despite it being catchable.

@@addisonfrance My point is that if someone is attempting to make an incredibly difficult, low percentage catch, you can't give them an error for trying lol. You give errors for plays that players are expected to regularly make.
You don't give them errors for circus catch attempts over the back shoulder halfway into the outfield.
If Cora continues to give Yoshida the cold shoulder, he should leave. And I hope that Japanese players will never again make the Red Sox an option for transfer destinations.🙏

Even if he catches it, which is really a 50/50 ball for a shortstop running halfway into left field trying to make an over the shoulder sliding catch, the cubs still would’ve lost if the Sox played by the fundamentals you learn when you’re in T-ball.
