"Now the noodle arms and fingers are on, you are going to feel tempted to play with it... DO NOT!" 🤣😅😂
DO NOT!
Again…when I am feeling like Halloween is so far away, I watch Alan make cool stuff and realize I have very little time.
Make more things!
Finishing my third dementor and happy to add the following tips. Hands: Don’t go anywhere near the fingers with a high temp glue gun. The glue will melt the backer rod fingers when you try to use it on the joints. Low temp gun worked better but still opted for black electrical tape on a few joints. Also, as I starting rolling the fingers I was surprised how long it was taking to create just one finger tip. As a result, I grabbed my heat gun and created a realistic finger tip in seconds. Dementor outfit: I found that adhesive spray and a glue gun worked better than just the spray. The outfit would occasionally separate until I reinforced with glue gun. Dementor head: This may be controversial but I wanted to add a little more pizzazz to my upcoming display and when I realized my dementor face didn’t turn out as nicely as Allen’s did I committed an act of heresy. That’s right, I bought masks on Amazon and love the Dementors even more now. Although, I suppose they are no longer Dementors now. It’s like a Dementor did the nasty with another monster and I now have their love child for my next Halloween display. I also made a few other changes that I cannot discuss because I want mine to be awesomely unique. Thanks for the fun project Allen!
projects are all about making them your own- I never really intend for people to do exactly as I do, just to be inspired and see the techniques.
Heresy 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks
Ugh, now I have to make these. lol. I swear, nothing beats a home-made prop. You just can't get that feeling from cookie-cutter props from the big haunt store. I love that you build things using commonly available products. You also have an easy speaking voice. This makes it very easy to understand what you're doing. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!!
And they'll last longer than commercial crap. Also if they do break, you know how to fix easily.
Im sorry I made you work lol- you can make reapers or ghosts this way was well if you prefer them, just change the head up and the fabric color.
@@StiltbeastStudios Yeah that's what I plan to do. It's amazing how well the bobble in a gentle breeze. I want to run some wire up to the heads to control LEDs and a speaker from my haunt controller. I plan to use a motion sensor to trigger them when someone walks by hahahahaha. I love scaring people.
Those are rad! I think I would make the robes twice as long though. A fog machine would be sweet too!
Yeah, I just really wanted to show mine were hovering. They look good longer as well
Well done video! Plainly spoken, clear narrative, very good camera work, and a cool project.
Thanks for watching
Nicely done! Simple and effective. The movement from the strain on the PVC pipe is quite ingenious. No motors, no electricity, just mother nature to bob these guys around. Love it!
or a fan if mother nature is not doing it for you.
So simple and KICK ASS! Great job!
I think your comment kicks a$s.
I can totally see these mounted in our graveyard so that the mount posts are hidden a bit by the tombstones we have and some green light being cast on them. Thank you for the idea!
That's a great idea!
The technique to make the hands alone is super valuable and adaptable (and inexpensive). Hands with this much character to them placed in the right spot add so much to a figure to make it more than a stiff lifeless mannequin/scarecrow. Thanks so much for sharing.
Glad you like it!
I gotta try this for Halloween.
do it!
Ingenious!!!
glad you approve!
Very clever and super creative!!!! I could even see putting a strobe light underneath. And if there was some good wind it would be moving in all directions. Because they are elevated and have flexible movement I could even see ghosts with tombstones underneath or witches with a fire cauldron. I love that these are in the air. The Dementors however are pure genious. Thanks!!
Thank you so much! This was a fun project and glad you enjoyed it- and yes, would look great with ghosts and tombstones!
I always look forward to UA-cam Wednesday! You have so much knowledge to share!
Im so glad you enjoy them!
I used almost exactly this method and attached to to a backpack and created a 7' tall grim reaper. But I used the tube insulation as ribs. One arm was on a puppet post and the other was the actors hand. The hands were simple skeleton latex gloves. The skull head I put on a dowel that was attached to a hat so that when the actor inside turned his head the reaper skull would turn too. So the actor could reach out and articulate the arms and one being his could actually grab at people. The only difference is that I used a loose muslin draped over the rib cage so the actor could see through and painted the ribs white and other visible bones.
that sounds cool!
Sooo Cool!!!
Thank you for sharing your talents & knowledge!
Thank you for the kind words- happy to share! Go Make Stuff!
Greetings from the Isle of Man (UK Islands).....Loving this, thanks' so much for sharing. :O)
so glad you enjoyed it!
These are so freaking awesome! Gonna try a stab at them this weekend. Your video is great!
Thank you! go make you some demontors
!
Dude, I friggin' love to watch you create! You think it's silly but you don't understand the terminally uncreative. Your show is open handed magic to me and you are the Grand Poobah! Thank you for being so giving.
Yesssss! Thank you sir! Another killer tutorial! 🔥💀🔥💀🔥💀🔥
this is kind of a long version redo of an old one, but Ive been meaning top get to it for a while.
I love Dementors! I've built four!
this has all the details- been meaning to do this for a while.
Love the bobing ,just brilliant
bobbing is my favorite of the motions- second is swaying. dem ghosts doh
Has anyone ever told you that you have a narrators voice?? It’s calming and soothing.
some have said that actually, Im glad ya like it.
Loved making mine. A few snafus - had some adhesive that didn't want to fully dry. I put mine out in mid-sept. Warm/hot late summer days bent the PVC so that they stopped floating. I inserted rebar into the PVC which was great - until the frosts of October came and made the PVC pipe brittle and ended up breaking. Thinking I will put some sort of highlights in the draped fabric, and maybe stronger spot lights this year, otherwise they disappear in the night. Changing the landscape fabric to a iridescent sheer makes for some cool ghosts.
yeah even tulle fabric over this makes some great ghosts. Also you can use thicker pvc to combat the sun bending- Im in TX so by the time it gets cold enough to get brittle Halloween is way over.
FANTASTIC!!!
um.....thanks Daddy... that was awkward.
I added cut soda cans with tea light candles to reflect on the face of the tombstones, spray painted the outside black, and left the silver on the interior to reflect the light. It added pop to it. I also added glow in the dark, dry brush highlights on my version of dementors, and it made them stand out just a bit more with the face and hand features. Thanks for the videos, Alan. You truly inspire and teach. And im gonna "go make stuff"
They look great Alan.
thank you Lester
Incredibly easy and cost effective making these! Infinitely better than mass produced, big box store choices! How lucky you are to have been able to use your creativity as a job *AND* you have the puppers with you at work! Soooo jealous! 🤣🤣🤣
Keep the ideas coming, please! By this time next year, with your videos, my Halloween yard will be the scariest for miles around! THANK YOU!
Glad you like them! Go make stuff!
Probably the best diy dementor I’ve seen! x3! Great tutorial, and awesome using the landscape fabric! ⚡️🪄🦌
This is a must build for this year. And bonus, it won't bust the bank doing it. Love love love it.
Cheap is my favorite color.
Amazing as always. Your creativity and tutorials are spot on! Thank you oh master of spooky shit!
Im glad you liked the videos, I appreciate you.
Innovating to give the illusion on the cheap... I friggen *love* these videos of yours. Thank you for continuing to share at all the levels so everyone can have some fun. It's obvious that you're doin' what ya love. That's the best life. You must be the only content creator that replies to every comment, too. The world could use a few more of ya, brother!
Thank you, I try to respond to all of them but if I miss a day then I get about 40 behind and have to catch up!
That’s so cool! Thank you for sharing!
That was awesome and I love the background music gotta a little swag going on.
Wow they are awesome and creepy, I definitely want to make them for Halloween. Thank you so much for sharing 💀🧟♂️🪦🦇
Glad you like them!
I recently saw one of your videos, and now I can't stop watching. You are awesome. I just don't know which one I should start.😂
Love it!! Have to make one for Halloween or ya know just to hang on the porch Year around 😂
they are fun!
I've made several of these for my front yard, and they are always a spectacular hit. Thank you so much for these fun tutorials .
Would you sell any of your dementors?
Thats awesome!
These came out awesome!
thank you, Im glad you liked them!
Thank you this was one of the best videos I've seen in long time!! Thanks again
Glad you enjoyed it!
16 seconds into the video, and there's already a useful (brilliant!) tip. I never would have thought of a box support for the head. 2 minutes 45 seconds - Mr O & I are thinking of how we could use just the heads to make a creepy swamp beast pop-up for our witch's bog yard haunt. And when you rolled the backer rod in your hands to make the fingertips pointy, we both just looked at each other open-mouthed. Great video, great prop, and great inspiration!
Glad it was helpful! I make a lot of stuff lol.
love your channel!
love your comments!
This gave me many ideas. Thank you for sharing yours
Awesome, Go make stuff!

Thank you once again, Alan! I love the fact that every part of this is easy but so effective! These are better than the ones you can buy for so much more money and they even move better (so creepy) thank you so much for sharing your talents. I really can’t wait to make these. You are the Haunt master!❤️🤘🏻🎃🤘🏻
Glad you like them! I cant wait to see the ones you make!

As always amazing!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow ! I’m just amazed ❤❤❤
Im glad you like the video and I really appreciate you taking the time to comment!
Do you have a supplies list linked/written anywhere? I’m having trouble finding the weed blocker fabric at a not outrageous price 🙃 and just a written out list of the items used would be really helpful!
Also, thank you. You’re helping me make my husbands dream of a Harry Potter Halloween come true.

Im afraid I dont have a list of materials, but you could make one fairly easily by watching the video and making a list of what I use, its more work but it also will help you understand why I used what I did and allow you to make substitutions confidently. I hope that's acceptable.
I just found your channel, so cool!! I’m gonna go make stuff. Thank you!!!
go make stuff Wendy!
Awesome as usual
that was very kind.
Good Grief!!! that was such a teaching video! loll I loved it ,step by step ,your fantastically Halloween all the way ! what fun !! you hooked me I subscribed 🤡
so awesome, welcome to the club lol. now go make stuff!
I used this idea to start upgrading my hanging ghouls that I've had for years and I love it! I had an issue with the 1/2" pvc as the next morning he was lying in the grass but once I shortened the post a bit more I was good.. off to upgrade more now! Thanks again for a great tutorial.
awesome! they do look like they are floating!
Though I'm not a haunter, it's always fascinating to watch you work. Your creativity never ceases to Amaze me, Allen. It's interesting to me to see how things are done ... even if I have no intention of ever doing them myself. 😉
Thank God! I'm not alone! 😊👍
Im glad you like the videos, I dont even mind if you dont make spooky stuff, just thanks for watching.
You had me laughing a little at your dry humor. Good video
I laugh at myself all the time, sometimes we are literally watching paint dry- so we have to amuse ourselves.
These are awesome! I am totally making this thos year!
Do it!
Great birthday gift to see one of your videos on my birthday. I will have to remember this video to use in a cemetery.
I hope you had an amazing birthday!
@@StiltbeastStudios thank you. It was alright. Worked on stuff for a post apocalypse airsoft event
Very cool.
My attention was mostly on the build, but then DOGGOS!
That happens lol
I sent the video to my grandson. It looks like we’ll be making some of these for Halloween.
very cool!
You are amazing! I am new to the channel, and now I am addicted!!😂😂 is there a way you can put the supply list in the cments? That would be super helpful! Thank you, and keep it coming!!!
I normally don't do that. I think its easier if you are going to make one, that you watch the video through and write down what you need, then you have a really good idea of what can be substituted and such. if there is a list then not getting the right thing feels like a much bigger thing than it is. seeing how its used as you write it down allows you to insert materials you are familiar with or have on hand when they would work just as well. It would add a bunch of time to do a list for each video and I feel the organic list creation is the way to go. Sometimes I release lists and extra notes to patreon if they are available.
Hopefully I can get AI to look at old videos and make materials lists in the future.
Love it! Thanks!👻
thank you for watching, I always appreciate ya!
This is definitely something we'll do for next Halloween.
Great job as always. It wld hv be cool to see them with glow in the dark eyes.
yeah or LED eyes!
Question.
Where do you find room to store all the cool props and masks you make?
I used to love making my own props, masks and costumes, but I ran out of room to keep it all, and I found that things started getting wrecked and eaten by mice
Mice freakin LOVE foam for their nests
:(
step 1: get cats
but- i have a haunted house and a monster museum that I make props for, so I store them where I display.
@@StiltbeastStudios I have cats! I have 6 cats! LOL. And they are all good mousers, but here in southern Alberta Canada, the last few years have been extremely bad with the mouse population, and even all those cats can't keep up. I made my husband a costume of "the red pyramid (pyramid head) from silent hill, and I put 8 inches of foam board on his shoes to make him very tall. I found out the mice got into the bag where I kept them, and have eaten about 50% of the foam away. Time to call an exterminator I think.
Thanks again for all your hard work and sharing your ideas with us. I love your imagination.
Love this!
thanks for commenting!
Hell yeah. Great video

Super frickin dope 👊🏼😎🤙🏼

Awesome!
Glad you think so!
Hi ! Thank you so much for this amazing video. Could you share some ideas as to how one might suspend these from a ceiling?
Awesome
Dang! Off to Home Depot! Thanks Allen!
Go make stuff! Im keeping you busy!
Awesome.
Glad you think so!
Great video! I enjoyed your efficiency and technique. It will take me longer than your video to find any one of the materials needed in my household…I have them all, somewhere ;-)
Right now, I know where some zip ties are located…that is about it
you can do it! Halloween scavenger hunt!
I've had this huge grim reaper for decades that is pretty muck nekked and showin' his, uh, bones and I feel horrible but he shows up for doorman duty every year. Poor Grim😢😢 but watching this I'm pretty sure I can get him a new outfit to go with his grinning chops. I may even make him some friends! You've breathed life back into something that collects them😊😊
Thats so awesome! Go make stuff!
Literally the only thing I would have done differently would be to either make the cloaks longer, or add some very thin black flowing material to give them more of that ghostly slow motion appearance that they have in the films.
and you can when you make yours!
@StiltbeastStudios I absolutely will, i love your work man and one day I will attend your haunt. If you ever want to rent out a hearse or two and need a scare actor let me know.
are you in TX?
@StiltbeastStudios sadly no, I am in NC. But that doesn't deter me from visiting your haunt
So cool
Im glad you liked the video
🤯🤯🤯🤯🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🫶🏻 Muchas gracias!
Realmente en gran trabajo. Muy creativo. 👌🏻✨✨✨✨✨
