Want to mention that the Shield Jon picked up to block Ramsays arrows was a Shield of House Mormont. The 62 Men of Bear Island did in fact make the difference!
I think this is one of the greatest battle sequences ever filmed. It rivals Saving Private Ryan's opening sequence for sheer visceral, like you're really there impact. BTW, "full tilt" is a medieval term related to jousting (you tilt your lance at your opponent and ride full speed at them) so very appropriate in this context.
Sansa had no trust in Baelish to actually show up, the letter was an act of desperation. He serves himself and Sansa knows this. The potentially false hope she may have given Jon would have given Ramsay more time. But this was Sansa outmanouvering all others and playing a high stakes game. And she won.
I love the Sansa song! Sansa didn’t know if Littlefinger was coming or not. That’s why she didn’t say anything but kept telling him to wait (so she could find out if Littlefinger was coming or not) I’m going get a lot of hate for this, but she’s my favorite character! ♥️ starting season 2 when she hated Joffrey
@@kaileeschmidt512 what is the evidence of that? All I’ve been able to find is a Reddit user’s theory that said that. I think it’s more likely that she knew they were going to lose, so she used the northern army as bait to lure the bolton’s out of the castle to then flank the Bolton army
This is she chest time I've seen no "ZIG ZAG" comments and it's about time!! 😂 Ramsey is an impeccable shot we learned that in season 3 - there was no dodging it, it's just a game and he doesn't play games that you might actually win
If Sansa would have told Jon, he would have waited to attack, Ramsey would have found out and barricaded himself behind the walls of Winterfell, and eventually come up with another diabolical plan. She knew they had to surprise him.
Team Sansa. She kept an ace up her sleeve because she saw that Jon was making ignorant mistakes. Ramsey would out maneuver him, and they would fail. Unless she brought in the final blow. It’s literally a play by play of the blackwater. If she had given Jon the Vale, they would died just the same. It was only because they waited until his entire force surrounded them, that they could break their lines from behind. She won this battle, not Jon. Jon is good with a sword, and he is honorable, he has never been smart. People have Jon love goggles on. And I love him too. But people let their adoration for his awesomeness lead them to think he’s always right, he’s not.
Full Tilt IS an old term from Jousting. During a joust there is a small fence between the riders that was known as the Tilt that keeps the horses and riders from colliding. Full Tilt was a maximum effort charge at your opponent and was considered a reckless tactic.
6x9, and especially 6x10, are considered the best episodes of the entire show. At least in the top 5. 6x10 is a lot of people's best episode of TV ever, actually.
You are absolutely right about Episode 10. It will be interesting to see which one you give top rank to! There are very good reasons why fan favorites are Seasons 4 & 6...
The music you play for Sansa always kills me😂 Also I expect to see one person mention the Mormont shield, Tis tradition with this episode haha Edit: I did, GOT fam you never disappoint ❤ hell yeah they did that
Fun facts: 1: Kit Harrington’s number one phobia is being caught in a crush of people and feeling like you can’t breathe, so for him, the crush scene was playing on his real life phobia. 2: when he was punching Ramsey, he actually caught him twice and accidentally punched him. Apparently he bought him a couple of drinks after that! 😅
don't like how in the series they portray the wildings as ignorant primitive people, in the books they are well-advanced as any other kingdom and even more
One thing I would have loved seeing was when Drogon lands with a thunderous plop right behind Dany, to see her wobble a bit and slightly lose her balance. Would have shown Drogon's power and some vulnerability from Dany one of the show's strongest characters, but at same time this would show even more strength from Dany, as she did not hesitate to climb onto Drogon's back
"something funny about a bastard calling another bastard, bastard" I think Ramsay was doing that because he was legitimized and it always bothered him being a bastard, so he assumes it would bother Jon. Which it used to, but then Jon really internalized that advice from Tyrion about wearing it like armor.
the X's on fire are also yard makers for archers ranging. Jon was lured into rang and had to undercut the volley. also Archers shoot in unison called a volley to do indirect fire of a certain area. Also there is a Game like this, its called Chivalry medieval warfare
(Because I got curious...) Google: “Full tilt” comes from medieval times and the days of the knights and the sport of jousting on horseback. Both mounted armoured knights would rush at or gallop at each other at full speed or at full tilt bearing their jousting lances aimed for the other knight.
Even if melisandre learns now to not be too presumptuous in claims to knowledge/certainty, i still think she is inherently no different to when we first met her. She still thinks that IF the lord of light (LOL) commands her to do smthg, no matter how horrible, she should do it. She just is no longer sure she can understand, but she is still sure the LoL’s commands override moral common sense. She has not changed position on the Euthyphro dilemma, and that is why i dislike her more than Ramsay
me: barry bout to witness the saving private ryan ahh episode also me: damn barry really getting two of the best episodes back to back rn with 9 and 10
Full tilt, jouusting, the2 mounted night running at eachother with lances, that's held in a tiltyard. They run at each full tilt, that's where it comes from 😉
"maybe its not a good idea to starve your dogs.." - he learned that lesson in the end for sure lol. It's great for me a old repeat viewer of GoT to see the little comments you make that end up being ironic or just perfect by the end of the plot of the episode (or whole show tbh)
Sansa is such an idiot for withholding critical information from her battle commander. "Hey Jon we have reinforcements incoming. They should be here soon"
took this long to get a proper medieval field battle. there was one in the first book but that was when the show had tyrion knocked out for the whole thing because they didn't have the budget
You once told us that realistic battle scenes will never surpass anime fight scenes in s1. Now do NOT tell me you still hold that opinion after watching this
lol since like episode 1 or 2 --- you had my dany take, where its like she like "what if we just kill everyone.... " and low key its like thats crazy BUT..damn she looks good saying it so I guess thats the plan
@@elvin2514 I agree with you on the element of surprise. That was one my most favorite scenes of the series. On the other hand, not telling Jon didn't even give him a chance to consider waiting for a response. She did ask him to wait for more men, but didn't give him a reason to believe any might be coming.
Wrong. If she had said something they would’ve lost everyone AND the vale. how do people not get this. JON SUCKS AT STRATEGY. Ramsey would have won 10 out of 10 times. The only way to beat him was with surprise troops that NO ONE knew about.
Hey Barry, After Game of Thrones ends, I hope you start watching 'The Sopranos'. It's an amazing show and your commentary would be amazing. I hope you see this:)
Even though Sansa left Jon hanging out there on the battlefield and not telling him about Littlefinger and the Knight’s of the Vale, he allowed her to have that Ramsey kill. Sansa had already left when Ramsey told Jon that he hadn’t fed his dogs in 7 days. Obviously he let Sansa know and gave her the revenge she deserved. Still hate that she kept her mouth shut. Yelling at Jon before the battle about not having enough men and she possibly had the Vale in her pocket. At least tell Jon that, heffa!
Want to mention that the Shield Jon picked up to block Ramsays arrows was a Shield of House Mormont.

Yassss!!!
Never noticed that before. Great observation!
Mormont is indeed the shield that protects the realms of men
His sword came from the Mormonts as well
"Lookin like a Travis Scott concert" 😩
Battle of the Bastards was one of the best battles I've ever watched. I was so hype to see your reaction to this episode.
“ GETCHU SOME SANSA !!! “ 😂💯 so real
It's always a delight to see new viewers react to the work of art that is this episode.
The one shot of Jon is stunning
15:46 wild that she's asking the Ironborn to give up the 4 Rs when the Dothraki are all _about_ the 4 Rs.
Good point.
she tried to make Drogo make his Khalasar stop at least one of the the Rs so she probably did the same or even more when she has her own
"I'd put my horse in reverse." I don't know WHY that struck me as so funny, but it had me snorting!
By far, one of the best reactions so far. I love the added Sansa swag and song, Fire!
“Am I recording?” 🤣💀 gets me every time!!
Every single time 😭
