- Sarah is home alone for the weekend while her parents are out of town for their anniversary. She plans to have a quiet night in, but someone else has other plans for her.
Alone pays homage to films like The Strangers. Slowly building tension throughout. Shot in just 9 hours, with a crew of only 3 people.

I will never understand why people leave the doors unlocked until they decide to go to bed... Like... You didn't care all day but when you go to sleep, it somehow matters.
The door was locked she just put the extra safety chain on. Can't really have a chain lock on when you need to get in and out of your houose during the day. Plus her door was locked when she came home because she had to open it with a key. So the stranger must have broken in somewhere else other than the front door.

Very good. No monster, no demons no jump scares. Just a real threat. That alone is horrifying. And to think he was there for so long.😣

Filmmakers, please remember that most of your viewers can't see in the dark. I feel like I missed some scenes that are important to the plot. What happened at the end?
If you are living alone you should keep checking your security cameras. And no matter how safe ur house is don't forget to lock your door.
We have 4 CCTV Cams at our house
We only check them if something happened the night before
After a while most people stop constantly looking at their Cameras
Also nobody can watch their Cameras 24/7 it's impossible
All it takes is a few minutes for someone to enter a window or door and it's over...
That's why people need Guns

I do stay alone ... actually, I like to stay alone ... but it's a fact , that, it's not a good idea, if u want to stay safe ...

Actually, I scared all along with the darkness and the thought of monster will jump out, appear at any moment in that house.

Great job! I can't believe you did all of this in just 9 hours and with 3 people! That's incredible. I like the prolonged suspenseful pacing. Nice cinematography too. Good job by the actress as well! She was likable and didn't oversell being scared or uncomfortable. I even liked the Christmas setting. Feels even more isolated. Make more movies!

What camera are you using?
I shot this on the Blackmagic cinema camera 2.5k. The really old one. It actually worked surprisingly well!

I'm from India and I like such kinda short film I don't see any awful condition in this short film Although I like it cuz I like such kinda condition like alone, abroad home, nature etc 😄
I will admit it's kinda lonely being alone and even a little scary sometimes. Especially at night when the house is all quiet ❤😊😬😎👍😮😅

Superb very well made,read a couple of post s below biang critical,on a couple of scenes,ignore,you know exactly what your doing and the Piace works,very scary,casting superb ,great actress,very vunrable,music outstandingly,editing perfect,the interesting thing,is,who's to say that intruder wasn't a ghost,a shadow person,possible,either way it frightening,.cheers for making,and with your next film you will hear, nominated vfor four academy in awards.

I watched a docu about real home intruders. One camera footage showed the house owners slept in front of TV showing ROBOT series. The dark figure (burglar) at the second floor balcony watching the tv downstairs. CREEPY.

The snowman disappearing was intentional, but it didn’t work as well as I had hoped. But glad you caught it! Lol
The house is too large. Why always they living alone?
The first 3.5 minutes try too hard to be scary and as a result, they aren't. I'd start in the bathroom. Simple things, like removing the music and using natural sound as she walks up the house would help. It's scarier to talk into a dark house, then one full light. If we saw the snowman as she walked up to the port, they would be eerie.
The snowman in the window that she lit up coming into the house was non existent in the rest of the scenes. Where did it go?.,...ha ha ha

From a fellow filmmaker, I would just suggest going back and cutting your edits in a few places to pace it a little quicker. I was most saddened that it was open ended! Cool choice for the intruder, but otherwise, good work.
Gotta disagree! Too many horror shorts leave too little time between scares; this film's pace was slow enough that it let the suspense build, which really worked in the film's favor.
I imagine people will have different responses, but I liked that it was left open-ended. The protagonist usually has that point of realization--it's just a matter of when it will happen--and then the battle ensues. But leaving her completely vulnerable to the end really elevated the tension for me.
She gets in shower. Gets out. No water.

Why did she draw the curtains at the bath if she was sure of being alone. And while taking out the towel too she was careful enough to extend her hand out of curtains without drawing them apart as if someone was there. Perhaps the crew of the film were there! 🤣
Who showers with the bath curtain open?? Water would spray EVERYWHERE.

Most time we see in USA and other countries where single person or two persons stay in a single building but that things may not be possible for us I think that's why they can utilise their brains fully without disturbance and they do what they want when I see that I miss it in my study period and I request that girl can you make me your partner

not bad, reminds me of my first short except yours is much darker in term of color wise and barely dialogues. shots great, and tips for musics (only in australia), if you're using CC free musics make sure to credit them. doesnt matter if you are profitting off it. Trust me, because you don't want licensing issues and yes free music has those.
I composed the music for this, so they don't have anything to worry about on that side of it :)

Really slow with nothing much happening. Luckily the lead was attractive (enough). U should watch stuff like When A Stranger Calls. That one has lots of stuff happening without actually much happening if u catch my drift

to slow
1) To call a movie "horror" it must have a supernatural entity, that's what the literature says. This is obviously not horror.
2) A part of that, it lasts for 11 minutes and nothing happens for more then 9 minutes, this makes the movie slow and boring, sorry to say.
Some suggestions:
1) Cut everything
2) Do some good scenes playing with some shades in the dark area of the several rooms, maybe some sinister sounds coming from somewhere in the house
3) Everybody must see that there is a monster: which can be the shade itself that slips on the walls/ceilings/doors. This will create the atmosphere
4) She is not afraid, thinks it's only her imagination
5) Slowly create the tension, like sometime let her go out of the frame and make everybody sees the shade moving on the wall right behind her.
6) Then you'll have everything set up for the big jump scary at the end, when the monster finally reveals itself to kill her
just an idea to work on what you have: a big house and a loneness girl. Good luck.
Exactly! Absolutely agreed, especially on the first point! I find this short pretty boring, you are so right, nothing happened, and definitely nothing that can be described as horror.
