Can the 2 compression straps be taken off instead of hanging around?
The straps can not be removed but they can be adjusted to being only on the bottom of the bag where you can wrap or tie them so they’re just there if you need them.

Can you fit a Macbook pro 16 in there?
Let’s see chrome says the sleeve is a 15” laptop sleeve and it does measure 15” wide.. but maybe you could fit it in there not being in the laptop spot. Here’s the bags dimensions from the chrome website. Hopefully this helps in your decision.
