This is actually not an equivalent comparison. The Hydro Flask is 32oz while the Zojirushi is 16oz. Thermal capacity is higher with more liquid. Zojirushi with less liquid should have lost to the Hydro Flask, but it actually kept heat better. Show how much better the insulation is.
i think hydro would be better for traveling since it keeps more water. but if the only place you travel is between your house and office, or maybe office and the pantry maybe you won't mind if it keeps less water. it depends on what people will prioritize more i guess. as example, for me, i would probably choose the one from japan(forgot how it spelled), because i saw someone reviewed that it can keep cold water up to 3 days. i also don't travel much. so this sounds good to me.
Both are good but the Zojirushi is much better designed for a coffee or tea drinker especially in a city, in a car or on a plane. It’s easy to use one handed. The Zojirushi has more parts to clean though. Hydroflask is a little easier to keep clean if you don’t want to deal with multiple gaskets but it’s not hard to take care of the Zojirushi. I do think that the Zojirushi is a better value.
MD here. Must be a northeast thing. BTW I love my Zojirushi for cold beverages. I add a few icecubes and they routinely stay unmelted for up to 10 hours.
Excellent review. I'm going to buy the Zojirushi with the traditional checkerboard pattern (ichimatsu moyou).

Thanks for a great review. I have a Zojirushi and my sister has the Hydro flask, was wondering which was better for hot liquids.
