i just got an old walkman yesterday for 10 bucks. its still a good source of entertainment ipods are good but the cassette has its own charm that ipod can replicate the sound but not the soul.
Yes, you're right! I cannot remember the last 'wow' factor gadget I've had! Tech is so far advanced now that it would have seemed Sci-Fi 10 years ago! Mind you, that takes me back to the Sony Minidiscs, now they were cool, well built and small! You'd see plenty of folk using them on the London underground back in the day :) yay!
@BlackFloyd94 The video was recorded in 1990 on VHS tape, using an 1986 monophonic video recorder. The tape itself has deteriorated in its 20 year storage, imagine!
all sony walkmen were awesome, each more beautiful than he other. ipod in 2000s has a shell of cheapest plastic without screws to be thrown away once it has problems. every year, Sony renewed its walkman collection with about 20 new models. I could give myself a clout for having thrown away catalogues I had of Sony and Sony walkman 1988-2000
Another great format that Sony should've tried to improve was DAT. I love the footage between 1:36 through 2:08, and the quote that Mr. Bayley said was epic. "...anything as beautifully detailed, small, and as well made as this could come from nowhere other than Japan." The Japanese will always have the edge when it comes to miniaturization. :)
I consider the ipod more of fashion accessory than a serious multimedia device. Levi, you wouldn't happen to know the name of the model that Mr. Bayley is holding(and is featured in the factory footage)?
I truly miss the days when the Sony name and the label Made in Japan was all about quality. Nowadays, Sony is no better than any other company that has sold out to the Chinese. I also feel that there is no such thing as a wow factor in electronics anymore.
I'm glad I'm not the only one! I'm trying to get my Sony Minidisc Walkman to sync up with my computer as the sound quality is better than their more modern phones.
It's a piece of history, Sony walkman. Maybe Apple and the way modern media have to report sensational stories have brainwashed you. Slow down your pace and you can discover that the walkman was invented to last, to entertain and to please the eye with different designs. Modern things try to be equal on a poor level, ipods don't interest nobody anymore after only 11 years. People will forget ipods completely in 10 years and discover that it hasnt been worth talking and spending a cent
Sony is Sony, apple has good products, but the sound terrain its property of japan, its property of sony, the finest audio equipment are sony, the car audio line is not bad, but just decent, but in the pro audio around the world their equipment is the finest.
My love for Sony has grown with me starting with the Walkman and through the PS4 Pro. ❤️ SONY
I love Sony too! I got PS4, Xperia phones like 1 II and XZ Premium, and Sony audio like XM4, XB41, etc What other Sony products do you have?
Much better than the annoying DRM iPod and iPhone
R.I.P Akio Morita.
私が幼い時に、韓国ではSONYは最高に待遇してくれました。そして、本当に丈夫です。
家族の中に95年に購入したSONYのブラウン管TVを故障もなく今まで使用します。
Thank you 1/3 🎵
The Walkman looks so cool still.

The japanese never invented anything. They literally worked on other peoples ideas

1990 was the beginning of the end of the walkman
It's a shame that WM-F710C he is holding has a weak mechanism and suffers from noisy motor and poor door latch. They have great sound though.
Well... my d3 does :-)
Pitty Sony didn't buy Apple in early 2000s
