I love Rose as a character because she's shown such growth, maybe even more than Mary ever has. Yes she was a spoiled brat in the beginning but she's always been well-meaning and found a rare kind of love, full of genuine affection, during the time that she lived. She deserves all the happiness in the world.

So much love and trust shown between Rose and Shrimpy. Just from that small conversation going up the stairs, she shows trust in his judgment regarding the false pictures and he trusts her feelings towards Atticus. Pretty well written and acted.
Shrimpie knows what a vindictive witch Susan is he knew she was up to something when she mentioned mailing a cheque hence why he checked his cheque book. He also adores his kids especially Rose he may have concerns and worries at the nastiest she will encounter being married to Atticus however he knows Rose will never have to struggle financially and she will be adored and treated like a Queen which is much better I love Shrimpie I wish we had more episodes with him and Rose
Well in previous episodes it sounded like a marriage of convenience. He did say they were happy once, once the children were grown they lost interest in each other. Unfortunately it happens to a lot of marriages.

Interracial when it came to color (dark skinned), African, African-American, was the taboo! Downton Abbey didn't know how to handle this without offending their audience.
