What a video ! what a fantastic behind the scenes. You are truly good at what you do and truly inspiration to me. I truly understand how hard you have worked on the audio, lighting, set design, and your shots are gorgeous. Peace out from Finland
You are amazing at your craft. Thanks for the review, the insight, and thorough explanations! They were extremely helpful and informative. You deserve so much more viewers and I know they will come soon. Look forward to the full r6 review!
Love your informative and ultra-professional videos. I come from the old school. Analogue. Shooting on celluloid using an Eclair or Bolex, Measuring tape, light meters, etc.. I have a massive back story, which would take up too much time. I have a 3 month time window and I am in the process of putting together a sizzle reel for a TV Pilot I wrote. I've been building props, creating old school SFX, etc. I'm fine with lighting, sound...the lead actresses Mom has a Canon R6 and instead of shooting on an iPhone. I want to make this reel as professional as possible. So I took her Canon and started watching tutorials. Frankly, I'm dealing with so many other things, actors, locations, wardrobe, permits... that I am losing my mind and I feel as though I'm trying to learn how to fly the space shuttle. Surely technology is meant to make things easier, rather than more complicated! You are a consummate professional and I love the footage you capture. I am limited to using a 50mm lens (Which I frankly love.). QUESTION : I have the R6 mounted on the crane 2s with a Feel World Monitor attached to the grip in the soft shoe port. HOW CAN I MOVE AROUND A SCENE.... PASSING OVER OTHER ACTORS AND PUSH IN ON AN ACTOR WITHOUT LOSING FOCUS? OR HOW CAN I CONTROL THE FOCUS TO A BETTER DEGREE? Once the monitor is attached, you can't touch the display to lock the AF on a face. Do you have any suggestions Damien? It's probably an easy fix, but my brain doesn't have the bandwidth right now - Thank you brother - Simon
Really enjoying your channel and all the photography and video tips. Loved this video and love how well the R6 did and your friend the model is spectacular..she is mesmerizing! Wow how gorgeous 😍 Keep up the great work and do another shoot with this model again ")
This is fantastic work, I loved every bit of it! I just do stills 95% of the time but this got me so excited I swear I'll go deeper into video. After all, the R6 is already on the way - ordered a few hours ago haha. Also the 25k ISO performance blew me away. I knew that the full frame sensor of this generation with the low megapixels has to be good, but this is beyond.
Very nice everything narration, model, graphics, background ... a lot of hard work went into this. And you were bumped by the GoPro and cable ties, the cold... good one - Tnx for sharing. What you do is way above my skills, tools n time but I like to watch what it takes to do such work and Tnx for explaining to us and taking us behind the scenes etc. I look forward to the fuller future R6 review. Take care
Video looks amazing! I never tried 4k but do you know if you need a 4k video card and monitor and if you have any recommendation that would be fantastic.
To your point about 4K 50/60p...several other channels have reported that the R6 50/60p is still oversampled and in fact better than the R5’s 4k60 in full frame mode, was that your conclusion as well? Great video!
I tried shifting the white balance to B1, M1 and sets it closer to the eos R. I got the setting idea from Josh Hodgman. Possibly something to play around with? Great video and it's crazy you were able to use iso 25600. Great content and humor. You guys are very talented.
Do you have any advice for exposing c-log at night? Preferably I'd like to know what metering you prefer for these scenes and do you expose c-log at +1 or 0 exposure?
Ha ha great intro love your channel it's good to watch a pro plying his trade I don't have the cash to spring for those high end cameras any chance you would do a tutorial on shooting on a basic camera to see what I should be aiming at
Great video! So inspired to get a gimbal for my EOS R. Thank you so much for addressing the white balance issue so clearly. It’s what has prevented me from getting the R6. My impression from watching lots of footage of R5 & R6 on UA-cam is that the R5 does not have the same warm cast of the R6. Do you agree that the R5 will match better with the EOS R? Keep up the great work. Happy new subscriber.
Hello ! Thank you very much for this great video ! I have an R6 and I'm going to get into the video. If I’m using c-log 3 then I will have to install a variable nd filter. So, how many stops do you recommend for shooting in broad daylight, with average brightness (Norway in February) ? 2-5 or 6-9 stops? Thanks for your help ! Best regards ! Vanessa
Thanks for the nice behind the scenes video. I didn't know the R6 is that capable in shooting in low light. By the way, how do you convert the R6 files to ProRes? I tried the method to covered with the macOS Finder "right click and last point" convert video and also avconvert from the terminal but I always get files doesn't match the used profile even so I use one of the suggested profiles. Are you using FinalCutPro X 10.4.10 to do it? With 1080p I don't need to convert but with 4k 25 and 50fps it doesn't play well on my 2018 15" MBP (H265 4:2:2).
I use Adobe Media Encoder. You have ready-to-use presets for ProRes. Most of the time I use ProRes LT encoding for R6 files because the file size is not so big (approx. 2x bigger than the original) but the quality is great.
Wow how is it so clear at 25k ISO this is crazy! Would I still be able to achieve the same or similar cinematic/polished effect and feel if shooting at 1080p at 60fps rather than 4k?
How do you rate the auto focus on the R6? Do you ever experience problems when you film with it? The reason I’m asking is because Potato Jet complained quite a bit about it.
Saw that video. Can’t confirm his experience at all. Thing is though, I found all cameras and firmwares seem to be different now. Lots of people getting different results with the same overheating tests too
You've been doing some great work on this channel, excluding this intro though. Every youtuber has his\her own style and energy level, "so not you" doesn't necessarily mean so lame. nothing lame about that, as long as it comes natural
What?! That monitor! What cable works with R6? If that thing could control c70 in some way i'm pretty ready to swap my C200 to C70. Only downside on the C70 is that it is not so convenient on shoulder. Makes even the R6 very much easier to shoot from shoulder. It can trigger C200/C300mkIII right?
@@damiencooper Nice. Might get one. I think it needs usb-c adapter and mini usb cable to control R/R6 like i had with Crane2. Can you confirm the cable which worked for R6?
@@getwetsoon generally, yes. But it depends on what you need it for. These days there's absolutely no clear answer to any of these questions other than "it depends" :D

were you filming in neutral? I heard neutral solves color issues
for correct colors, you can compare the log/rec709 to technicolor cinestyle where you can normal do color/contrast corrections ( =8bit )

Perhaps it’s just me, but I’m really having challenges with the R6/28-70 and Crane 3. Consistently overheating the Crane motors. Am I alone?

Is there a video on camera settings for low light shooting with R6?
Nice work! How are you batch transcoding all footage to ProRes?
I do it within final cut. Import to a library, leave files in place and share the files right from the browser to prores
Monkeypixels' "30 Second Color Grade" is a must watch people. That was a game changer for me and I will never use rec709 conversion LUTs ever again.
