HE is discussing his new contract, AEW’s women’s division and believe it or not, the incident at All Out. HE almost played hockey apparently, which was a surprise to us. Zooming in from somewhere we presume isn’t deep breath NORTH CAROLIIINAAAAAA…. KENNY OMEEEEGAAAAA!!!!

Kenny's recovery from the ridiculous amount of injuries that he was working through, has been really inspiring for me. I had hip surgery in 2020 and it took me out. It's hard recovering from these type of surgeries, the amount of blood sweat and tears that go into physical therapy. It's mentally exhausting on top of it all. That's been my life the last 4 years, and this man did all of it in such a short amount of time just to return for our entertainment. He'd never see this comment but Kenny Omega matches are about the only thing that have gotten me this far in my own rehab, and it's getting my cousin through his mom having terminal cancer. To say you have fans for life is an understatement.

As a huge Kenny Omega fan, I can say the storytelling through the match is what made me such a big fan. He's better than he even realizes. I heard his name buzz from his work in njpw and had never watched non American wrestling before. @Smoosh Oparatar wrestling world and entertainment world become 2 different elements, people like rollins seem like they are more on top because they work for a bigger company and to a bigger audience, bigger doesn't always mean better. Will osprey could outwrestle the majority of WWE's locker room but probably wouldn't ever end up in a movie like some big WWE names. I mean this based on a wrestling perspective. I mean if you ask me and he's an opinion (I know hard to take these days on the internet) but WWE lack any actual wrestling anyway, most matches are kicks and punches with the odd areal move and 2/3rds of the show is basically talking and drama like a reality TV show.
You also mention AJ, he was one of the best in TNA/Impact throughout his career and like many others in WWE now sits at midcard and will never shift.
Bigger audience doesn't mean better product, just most people when they get into a hobby or interest will go straight to the biggest company. This is seen in the console market , movies series (marvel), smartphones (apple) etc. And they know they have an audience that will buy their products regardless of price because of brand loyalty. Anyway I'll stop rambling, but Kenny is one of the best

The GOAT question, I like how he fielded that one. I find it interesting that in some ways he sacrifices a lot of credibility by choosing to spread his wings and do such a mixture of match styles and feels, whether it's comedy on American TV or a Wrestle Kingdom main event. The other current wrestlers in the conversation for me are Jay White, Will Ospreay and PAC - the difference between Kenny and them, is they have their shtick and they stick to it. Kenny is basically taking a post-modern approach to the craft, where there's an acknowledgement of the understanding that as part of this is fantasy and role play, the character you portray between the ropes is wet clay in your hands night after night, where as Jay White's character is very deeply complex on multiple ridiculously realised and subtle levels, and Ospreay and PAC do enough character wise to give themselves a credible base for the athletic claims they make and own in the ring.

Around 16-17 minutes in they talk about the different styles of wrestling, and how people expect american wrestling to look like american wrestling. And this perfectly explains why you have SO MANY people who lose their minds about AEW and non-WWE wrestling; they've had years or decades of being told "THIS IS WHAT WRESTLING LOOKS LIKE" and so the moment they see something different, they interpret it as "wrong" instead of "different" or "new".
Kenny Omega knows and understands wrestling much better than his detractors, especially the short sighted, outdated boomers like corney. And the breath of fresh air that we have with these more flavorful, unique, buffet of wrestling is so welcome.
