I hate the ending, altough we had so many hints along the episode than things will end bad, starting with Lady Denham's story of the suitor who loved her but went on to marry a fortune. This world seems unfair and cruel to Charlotte and I feel sorry for her broken dreams and hopes. I hate even Sydney, who although loves her, leaves her when money, class and people intervene. Such a shame! hoping for another season

Well the season finale absolutely destroyed me and I have since spent most of my time watching and rewatching vids on here and checking for Twitter updates on a second season, just to prolong my torture!! 😪 When he rode up to the carriage in the final 5 minutes, I thought this is his chance to redeem himself! All he had to do was say he loved her, not Eliza and let them kiss! I could live in ignorant bliss as to whether or not he actually went on to marry her! I literally threw my remote control at the wall after in anger hahah! The reason I adore Austen is because she rewards the good characters! Charlotte didn't deserve to be left crying in her carriage like that! Good people end up together for a reason so why would Andrew Davies ruin that if he wasn't guaranteed a second season! Surely, surelyyyyyy ITV must have basically agreed it...I can't cope knowing that that's how their story ends! And this video was beautiful but it’s completely ruined me all over again 💔💔💔
I suspect they made two endings. One is like you said and the other was the one they showed. They probably made two endings to see if it got popular and if it did they would try for a second season by giving the bad ending. If it hadn't gotten popular they probably would have gone with the happy ending. If it's the case, they should realize both as so many are unhappy.

We'll get the ending in a distant future :( And they might just disappoint and have him marry Campion. Why do I feel like I have been dumped.. lol? Sigh :(
