Im teaching these to my son for 5th grade this year, im gonna include activities and you tube videos to support each chapter, along with critical thinking conversations. Very easy to make your own curriculum . Evan moore on the side is great!!!
We love Tuttle Twins! We're almost done with the first History book and I of course had to pre-order the new one that's coming in Summer. Excited to hear your thoughts on the Evan Moore pockets. I've considered using those in the past but wasn't too sure.
I always love your videos. I was going back and forth about adding Tuttle twins history too. Can’t wait to hear what you think about it once y’all dig in!
We loved the History Pockets we have done in the past. And we will definitely do them again! I think they are such a great resource. I hope you guys have a wonderful history filled year!
We tried using Gather Round US History and my 2nd grader kept having a hard time getting into it or retaining info. I’m like you and have struggled with finding a history curriculum that fits. I like the Tuttle Twins idea, we have a ton of their other hooks. Would love to see more of how you piece it together 😊.
What grade are your kids in for this history? Also, what’s your layout of your school year? Not sure if you have a video on it. Curious as you mentioned you start in July.
I will have a 3rd & 5th grader doing this for the upcoming year. I do have a video on that: ua-cam.com/video/E-ZQBrz_-vQ/v-deo.html We start mid/end of July and try to finish by end of May - specifically because my kids like to go to summer camp which starts in June
I think I talked about it in an update….I couldn’t match them up enough with what I was trying to do. I do like them but couldn’t incorporate them the part school year.
I wish I would’ve had used this for early history! I went with Beautiful Feet, but I have to edit a lot. I need the second half of American history and have no idea who to use now and the Tuttle twins are still at 1776.
@@IndiBex86 There were a lot of leading Socratic questions ie "look up the definition of hypocrite." Now how does that apply to Thomas Jefferson? Not appropriate for k-3. So I just omitted the question. I also swapped out any book that seemed to dark for the age ie Encounter. I didn't like the ending that said this is a story based off the author's feelings. I used a Truth Quest history guide to find good swaps and add in extra literature for any major missing events. Truth Quest has a non post modernist pov vs BF's christian liberal pov. Tuttle Twins obviously has a libertarian pov. If I had to do it all over again, I'd choose them. I don't like working that hard. But my kid enjoyed the combination.
We started with Notgrass as well but it's just too boring. I find myself reading to them then having to reiterate EVERYTHING afterwards. Nothing was sticking. I had the elementary and middle school one as well. My middle schooler said it's super boring and long. So we are doing Tuttle twins and TGTB history unit. 👌🏽 Hopefully that works out. Waiting on the TGTB to get here. Meanwhile we are reading Tuttle twins American History and just discussing it as a family.
My son is 12 and this is our first year homeschooling. We have been doing Story of the World and he is so bored with this. Is your middle schooler enjoying Tuttle twins and TGTB
@@Brody2kas yes they enjoy both much better! TGTB leaves room for discussion and small projects etc. Tuttle Twins is always good we use that for supplementing on days we need something to read aloud. 👌🏽
hi there, really want to us this book as a curriculum but not having a guide is kind of disappointing. I also see lots of parents who bought the bundle are still lost and confused. That being said how did the lesson plan work out, did you ever get around to it? 🤓😁
We ended up just reading the Tuttle twins history book which is great and didn’t do any extras. We then moved on to using Gather Round US history 2 which is what we are working through now
Next year for my 2nd grader I'm doing Beautiful Feet Early American History and I thought about adding this book as a supplement as well. Would that be age appropriate?
I felt like Notgrass was too much too. I was bummed! I feel like I’m right where you were!
Oh gosh a curriculum to go along with Tuttle Twins would be awesome! I can't wait to hear your updates!

I’m happy you chose this. I have been debating about it since it came out. I would totally purchase a curriculum guide if you created one 😊
Sounds like so much fun. I have pieced together our American History for 2023-2024 together as well👍🏻
I always love your videos. I was going back and forth about adding Tuttle twins history too. Can’t wait to hear what you think about it once y’all dig in!
I’ve really looked at Tuttle Twins in the past. I still look at them but I have no idea how I would add more things. Lol ❤
We loved the History Pockets we have done in the past. And we will definitely do them again! I think they are such a great resource. I hope you guys have a wonderful history filled year!
This combo was my plan for teaching history as well!
Sounds like a great plan for US history! I bet they will love it!

I'm piecing together our history curriculum myself too. Thanks for the recommendations.
Sounds like such a great year planned for history. We supplemented our Bookshark with the Evan Moore books too! They worked great!
How fun! Sounds like a great year ahead!
thank you!!!!!! I just found your videos, thank you so much for the video
Thanks for being here ❤️
We love the Tuttle Twins.
We do too!
We have and love the TT History book!

“Possibly some other resources” bahahahahahahahah that line alone cracked me up you knowwwww you’ll be using other resources 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤭
Did you ever do a review on the History pockets and how it went?
I think I talked about it in an update….I couldn’t match them up enough with what I was trying to do. I do like them but couldn’t incorporate them the part school year.

The Tuttle twins are releasing the 2nd volume this summer ☺️
Curious, in what ways did you edit BF? I'm considering BF or Tuttle, not sure which way to lean.

Just curious, what are your thoughts of Story of the World???
We have never used it, so I don't have many thoughts on it :)
Ok no worries!

We have finally arrived at Colonial Times. I swear we studied explorers, Thanksgiving, etc. so many times.
Yes!!!! Agreed lol

Nope- we ended up just reading them as a read aloud and that worked perfectly ❤️
How did you end up liking the curriculum you compiled? This is exactly what I am considering doing for my kids next school year.
We ended up just reading the Tuttle twins history book which is great and didn’t do any extras. We then moved on to using Gather Round US history 2 which is what we are working through now
@@gatheredandgrounded awesome! Thank you for the reply.
Don't skip the beginning of that book! It lays out the foundation of what colonial America is! (We used it this year)
Thank you!
I’m like you about Notgrass and textbooky… just not sure about it.
I really wanted to love it, but just something about it 😅
Next year for my 2nd grader I'm doing Beautiful Feet Early American History and I thought about adding this book as a supplement as well. Would that be age appropriate?
Yes!!!
Why are you not using Bookshark?
We still use the readers here and there but the entire program for history just didn’t fit in our homeschool schedule
Book shark history didn't work out for you?
It did not
Did you at one point use Sonlight 50 states? If so I have a question.
Yes I used that last year!
@@gatheredandgrounded Can you use it for all 50 states or is it just for 1?
@@ReiverGrad14 it’s set up to use on 1 state. But you could make copies to use for multiple states.
Me and my sister are also toxic when it comes to curriculum 😂😂😂 We are always looking at other things.
😂😂
Iew history, what do u think?
Not sure what IEW history is
Why not beautiful feet early American history and Tuttle twins?
Beautiful feet just doesn’t work in our homeschool.
Toxicccccc hahahaa 💀
You know it 😂
