BAD ECM?! | GOT FUEL | NEW CPS | ALL CRANK NO FIRE!!!

- We were able to get the lift pump to engage, bleed the system, get fuel to all cross over tubes.. after cranking and cranking. We replaced a crank position sensor.. & still no luck. With no tach, no oil pressure, our tool scanner cannot communicate.. all eyes on the ECM or PCM.. another stop in work 😭

my dad's 1999 dodge ram 3500 with the nv5600 the 6 speed manual with the 5.9l 24v Cummins never had that problem. but on my dad's truck the vp44 injection pump whent out. and off that we put a new vp44 and now the truck runs better
I have a 2000 2500 with the 5 speed manual. I have correct PSI from lift pump. VP, when I took off a fuel line from the back, barely let out fuel. It does the same thing if I crack the injector line at the head. I’m thinking I have a bad VP. I took the chip out of the VP and opened it. Nothing looks burnt or wrong. Some people have replaced a capacitor but I don’t think mine needs one.
Another issue I have is a P0380 and P0382 which is the circuit to the grid heater. Replaced the solenoid and the issues continued. Found out that if I take the connectors from the ECM to the solenoid, don’t work if both negatives and positives are connected. I took one positive and one negative, and no more issues with grid heater not getting power. Still pop a code depending on which circuit is not plugged but both elements turn on. Weird.
it will start man. I have faith in ya.... But stuff like this is very frustrating !!!!

Mine did the same thing brother, Ended up just being a faulty crank sensor. Change yours out & see if that helps any!

Hey man when you guys go over to Telluride you should take a ride through Ouray and Silverton! You won't be disappointed man I can promise you that.. We just went through there a couple weekends ago to hit some trails and stayed in Silverton a few nights and we will definitely be taking a trip back later in the year when there's less snow so more trails are open, but either way it's a beautiful drive even just passing through!! Best of luck with the truck! That guessing game is the worst!
D G we've found trails and planned on doing a few in the subaru. Sadly the XJ transmission won't make it. I'm so excited, telluride has been on our bucket list since we've moved here

I couldn't see right someone probably already commented but I didn't see a "wait to start" light ... not saying u need a grid heater but a "tell tell" sign of ecm... and I think they're programmed to sensors...
Can't wait to her it run but ya sure sounds like something up with the ECM/PCM short wire or bad

I had a bad ecm in my in my 2nd gen with the 360. Tried a bunch of different things including the crank positioning sensor but nothing worked. Had to shell out the $350 bucks for a remanufactured one which sucked.

I have a cummins that delays the wait to start light and won't start til that light cycles or gets ecm voltage... I think I read with Blue Chip Diesel what I need to do
I'd check all grounds, seems like it might be a bad ground

The Dog House I have a after market injection pump, the only way she fires up is with a hot wire to the injection pump!

Did you ever figure out what the issue was, having the same issue. just replaced to PCM and no luck. Cant get a good code read either so my next option is the ECM
Brian Fischetto the ECM was my issue, along with a few bad sensors

that happened to my uncles powerstroke he had the cam sensor wasnt all the way in they tried everything to get it ro run and couldnt then found that pushed it in all the way and fired right up

my third gen has same symptoms you listed plus no fuel pump so it won’t crank
I have a 99 5.9 24 valve doing the same damn thing for the lift pump on it put a new ECM on it and nothing happens frustrating any suggestions
Did you find out what was wrong with your truck
If all else fails you have a bad valve no compression issue that will not show up on a scan will have to pull the head hope you got it fixed by now

Yes it was a bad ecm that cause all the problems on this truck.

My wait to start light still comes on and I have tac though I just replaced the vp and still nothing I replaced the gas cause the old stuff it it was a year old.. haven’t been able to crank it yet cause batteries are dead.. but I can’t connect to obd2 the Autel says unable to communicate with control unit
Ecm? It has a tuner and wire tap mod .
sounds like an ECM related issue if it cannot make contact with the code scanner

@@ayodemayohave you checked the fuses on the inside by the steering wheel? I discovered that no OBD signal on my 2000 was due to a blown fuse.

Your abs and brake light are on and another cause of no tach is the rear speed sensor in the diff
Txdieselfreak 01 the speed sensor in the diff would have no impact on the tach. Only the speedometer.

Mudhfar Almuth i mean a lot of possibilities. What year? Is there air in the fuel lines? Is the lift pump engaging?
Mudhfar Almuth if it won’t start on starter fluid and you can’t get communication with the ECM... that’s probably it like the white truck

Could be crank sensor.
I had my crank sensor fail. When driving it lost all power and had no rpm gauge. Once I got home a turned it off it would no crank. Put sensor on and fired right up. It's right behind the starter

Darren Boyd and yes they'd let me return it. I have proof of purchase and bought the one with the warranty lol
