Should just make a small plate with the 2 nuts welded to it that you could slide up into the frame so both are held in place and spaced the right amount. Could even drill a few holes through the end of the frame and 'spot' weld that plate in place so you don't have to slide it in or hold it in place. Good work! Turned out great.
Ben Holman had the same idea as me make a plate with 2 captive nuts on a plate slide it into the box section and tack in place, bumpers still look 👌🏻 always loved these little zooks
Nice looking fab work I would have added a 2in receiver on the front bumper when moving trailers in tight areas its handy to be to hooked to the front.
I have watched most of your videos on the Suzuki Carry. I am very impressed with your work on it, you are hack like people I've watched, great job!! I also have a Suzuki Carry which I was thinking doing some of the same things to. I going to do the same type of lift on mine as well, I ready appreciated the videos, lots of thing that will help to see before I get started. Thanks again!
I allways enjoy your vision when doing a project., exceptional. I see comments on could have done, should have done. It takes a exceptional mind to do what you do. I always wanted to see someone do a project where you can do a cut in the bed to remove the the tire. Keep upthe excellent work.
And there comes the ones that "would do this,.or you should do that"...well people the man has awesome skills and 126 k subscribers give him all the Credit he deserves...!!!
Looks awesome dude! For mounting you could use a flanged nut welded in place. The nut would go between the bumper and frame, with the threads inserted into the hole, which might need to opened up a tad to fit. Then weld around the flange & grind smooth. Also, thread.a bolt into the nut before welding to protect the threads and give you something convenient to hold/clamp onto when welding it. =)
Awesome work brother. May I suggest putting in a notch on the top of the bumper the width of the spare tire to make room for the tire to slide out with the bumper bolted on.
Hey Austin. U could try to custom fab a spare tire mount in the bed maybe 😅 more awesom content. Cus i personally dont like taking off custom bumpers just to get to the spare tire. Its a real pain in the butt. Spare tire is categorized as recovery gear and recovery gear should be easy to get too when you need it.
The 4 rear-facing holes for the bumper I would make nut plates to slide in.1 plate 2 nuts ezpez! And you could make the top center drop a couple inches, (book match) of the bed shape to access the spar tire.
if you use trailer hitch tubing for the winch..you can make it pop off and go on back too......also can use it to mount that bumper...use the bigger tube on cab / frame..the smaller tube slides in...a nut on bigger tube and a bolt from bottom ( or side )..secures it... And Bob's your Bumper!!
I have just finished all the videos on your green Tacoma diesel conversion & I gotta say man you’re super talented in all things automotive. How did you learn all this stuff about engines, transmissions, painting, building bumpers etc? I use the phrase “Jack of all trades master of none” but it seems you’ve pretty much have mastered all that you show in your videos. I’m very impressed w your work.
One tip I woul add is to attach a hanger pin, say in between the two mounting holes. Basically a stud sticking out, that you can use to hang your bumper with while you put your bolts in.
great job as always I was wondering if you can change the order of the fuel tank and spare tire, put the spare tire under the fuel tank makes the spare a little easier to access and also how do you keep the hitch/ball in the receiver?
Protip with all of the rivnuts you end up using: USE ANTISIEZE ON EVERY ONE OF THEM!!! If they get a bit rusty and the nut spins in the hole, its a major pain grinding the heads off the bolts to remove the part. Its worth it to use a little shmoo on them.
@@signmasters99 it can be done. sometimes its better to just weld a nut to the backside even, especially if its going to be repainted. most of the places I've used them were in spots we either could not reach the backside or in spots that we didn't want to repaint. Think lightbars and cargo racks on trucks. we can just use a q-tip to paint the edges of a hole we drill then stick a rivnut in. Welding it sometimes causes waves in the panel from heat distortion and we'd have to remove the headliner and junk to weld it. in those situations a dab of antisieze goes a long way.
Hi Austin i have just bought a Suzuki pickup called a big eye 2002 model almost the same, i have a small fab shop so going to make bumpers like yours. the rear lights i bought LED type look cool about $20. I have to keep it white colour because its so hot here. keep up the good work TC Bill
weld your nuts on a plate you can slide up into that channel...and have plug weld holes so you can weld that plate in position... oops someone beat me ( should read other comments more?? ) i would slide it up and mount bumper .then weld at bottom ..unbolt bumper and weld it up .
dropping everything when i see you starting to build another bumper. great work! (with the nut thing: weld a stem to the nuts that will line it up from the inside and it acts as a mechanical stop when you tighten down the bolt head)
Offer still stands on the free F6A. Offer is only for you dude. She's just sitting here waiting for the right person to come bring her back to life. I'm sticking with my F5A engine.
will those D-rings just eat thru the raptor liner from swinging/bashing around? is there a rubber pad you could mount on bumper to stop it or something?
Why not just ditch the little donut spare and make a swing out full size spare carrier? I dunno just a suggestion. It'd be cool to see some dimple die holes maybe but overall I love what you've done with this and have to get one for my farm in the Philippines they got loads of those out there.
I would remove the spare tire and build a mounting bracket to mount the tire under the bumper so you wouldn’t have the hassle just in case but awesome bumper though🤔😊👍🏽😊
Cut the piece of the frame, where originally you were planning to bolt it, weld the nuts behind it, and weld the piece back, that way, no need to have a wrnch behind it...
bumper videos sub 20mins now. So what am I meant to do now!! If you run the bolts out the chassis with on tack on them then you can just slide the bumper on the studs. Same as car front bar reinforcement.
Is that spare even useful still? Its smaller than what is mounted, and its 30+ years old. You'd be better off making a back of cab mounted tire carrier that would fit a matching spare in my opinion.
A cool headache rack with flood lights, jerry can, and spare tire would be cool in the bed of the Carry. Love it man!
That plasma cutter is awesome!
The bumper Builds are my favorite.

My thoughts exactly.
I might actually do this. Great idea!!
You could also drill a couple of small holes around the bumper holes and weld your flange nut in from the outside, without a plate.
same kinda thing the 3rd gen 4r uses for the hitch.
Now you need to invest in some F stile Bessey clamps man there a time saver. Keep up the great work.
Ben Holman had the same idea as me make a plate with 2 captive nuts on a plate slide it into the box section and tack in place, bumpers still look 👌🏻 always loved these little zooks
Bumper builds are like therapy.
You have a great eye for design. Nicely done!
Nice looking fab work I would have added a 2in receiver on the front bumper when moving trailers in tight areas its handy to be to hooked to the front.
May God bless you, I'm following from Iraq. Good keep it up 👍
Love watching your builds. Greetings from Tbilisi, Georgia.

you are da man buddy.thank you for your work.
That looks really good, she’s coming together
You have won more brownie points with me for owning this truck. Very cool.
So glad you got that plasma lol they still make a nice mess but not as bad as a grinder!
, greetings from indonesia, suzuki carry lover
Back bumper looks fantastic! Thumbs up! 👍

@@austinniemela you are very welcomed. I really enjoy your projects.
I like this little build series.bumper and plow mount. It will make a nice little truck
Amazing craft... Some love from Kenya Africa
Good video bro, your metal work is amazing
I appreciate it!

Very good Iike both custom built bumpers, good job looking forward to the next show

Damnnnnn!!! I can't wait for the next episode!!!!

Austin is pushing out some quality content! Keep is up bud!
That plasma cutter is getting handy! Better start making templates to use with it. Like for the pod lights. 3rd build with them?

wow!!how wonderful!!
Full length roof rack front to back of the bed, with a place for the spare above the cab :O
Love your work Austin 👍
Отличная работа )))
bumpers are excellent, the main thing is to be strong
Awesome!
One tip I woul add is to attach a hanger pin, say in between the two mounting holes. Basically a stud sticking out, that you can use to hang your bumper with while you put your bolts in.
Since you have the receiver hitch you need a couple little loops for trailer chains
Headache rack for the spare tire/bed lights would be cool on this
Excellent vid!
I love the way you build..nice work flow.. looks awesome..👍🏽👍🏽
Thanks 👍
great job as always I was wondering if you can change the order of the fuel tank and spare tire, put the spare tire under the fuel tank makes the spare a little easier to access and also how do you keep the hitch/ball in the receiver?
Woow front and rear bumper perfect design and welded so nice. Your a gifted man Sir ….don’t mind if i copy it for my RC . Thanks
Look at the cross tube which runs between the two frame rails. and, you could use weld nuts instead of riv-nuts. Chains for the trailer hitch?
Protip with all of the rivnuts you end up using: USE ANTISIEZE ON EVERY ONE OF THEM!!! If they get a bit rusty and the nut spins in the hole, its a major pain grinding the heads off the bolts to remove the part. Its worth it to use a little shmoo on them.
Why not tack two sides of the rivnuts, just as an extra measure to make sure it doesn't spin free?
@@signmasters99 it can be done. sometimes its better to just weld a nut to the backside even, especially if its going to be repainted. most of the places I've used them were in spots we either could not reach the backside or in spots that we didn't want to repaint. Lets get this bannger video right away
Looking good 👍
Thanks 👍
your builds look like they can survive a nuclear blast
Lmao he said “ghetto” hahahaha havnt heard they one in a while! Another badass build 👊🏽
Nice!
Great video, just keep doing what your doing 😎😎😎👍👍👍
Sweet Bumper. I would have moved the spare somewhere else. Maybe a roof rack, then you can add more lights too. Or back of cab mount.
I probably would want this truck over your Toyota's 😂👍 - Can you also do a new camo Raptor spray??
Are you paint the bed with Raptor liner to it will help
You forgot the attachment for safety chains by the draw bar. Nice job.
Sounds like you need to make a swing gate on that back bumper for a spare tire, like an old bronco or blazer
Wow! idol! Thanks for sharing this. Done colouring your home. Shoutout! #MOVEONTV
what about the spare wheel? or will there be a separate wheel bracket?
weld your nuts on a plate you can slide up into that channel...and have plug weld holes so you can weld that plate in position...
oops someone beat me ( should read other comments more?? )
i would slide it up and mount bumper .then weld at bottom ..unbolt bumper and weld it up .

Awesome mod, very talented New Sub. /cheers ScrapBongo Liked
Build a swing out tire carrier off the bumper for your spare
Hey Austin why don't you make a door in the bed Floor for the spare tire.. you can make a box for the spare tire and to store some gear if you want
What size lift I your truck
Body lift, or is it a suspension lift
What do you spend in materials for your custom bumpers?
I would place the spare tire outside in a swing bumper mount, that way, you don't have to mess around with the bumber or anything else...
Why not powder coat the bumpers?
What size wheels are they on your mini truck
What about making a steel plate Diamond bumper with a sleeve to remove the spare,,no need to remove the bumper
Hi, good stuff!!!
What is the thickness of the sheet metal you are using for the bumpers?
I used 1/8"!
These will haul heavy loads brother. Don't worry about that.
will those D-rings just eat thru the raptor liner from swinging/bashing around? is there a rubber pad you could mount on bumper to stop it or something?
Possibly! Ill figure that out if it happens!
Where did you get the brake for your Harbor Freight press
Search my channel. I built it!
Spare tire removal?
👍👍👍👍
