My German teacher loved telling tales from being an exchange student in Germany (he's from the US). He said that the first time after he gave a presentation everyone started slamming their desks with one hand. He thought his project was so aweful that they sentenced him to some kind of heinous fate and the slamming was their way of saying they're out for his blood.

I went to a doctor and I told her that I am a trans male and mention that I wanted to get top surgery. Her first question was "well what does your boyfriend think about that?" She didn't even know I had a boyfriend. When both of my exes got a vasectomy, their first question wasn't "Well what is your significant other think?", It was all about them (which it should be)

In my country every goes on BMI and to get to the right BMI I would have to lose like 40kg... I work out as much as I can and have a Normal amount of body fat (roughly 30% last time I checked), according to my BMI I should be very obise

For the getting over someone (I think this applies to any kind of relationship lost, not just romantic) the best thing to remind yourself is
“I don’t miss you, I miss who I thought you were/who you pretended to be.”
So often things fall apart because the person doesn’t match the idea, and it’s ok to admit you miss the idea.
Or in other words “sometimes I miss you, but then I remember you were an asshole. F**k that noise.”

Okay but I used to have a squish on my friend (mistook for a crush but I’m aromantic, it was actually purely platonic) I took years before I could hug them. I hug them every time I say goodbye to them now but I couldn’t hug them I felt so embarrassed & it felt so intimate, I couldn’t do it lol. Still get the awkward feeling sometimes but we’re like.. besties like we’re basically the same person & I love them 😌😌

1:06:32 Dude, The Last Unicorn kinda scarred me. As a toddler I had a potable mini dvd player and that was one of the movies I would watch. My parents just saw the cutesy rainbow cover and apparently I never mentioned how mildly traumatic and weird it was (I only remember bits and pieces but it was a LOT). My parents didn’t know about it until recently lol
    Should probably rewatch it

    • @IrelandFyre
      @IrelandFyre Рік тому +1

You definitely should. My kids watched it in VHS (because I decided I wanted my kids to have that experience for some reason 🤣) but after they started school, not as toddlers, and they watched it in repeat until they burned out the tape and STILL talk about how much they love it. I would love to hear how you feel after watching it now in conjunction with you having that experience as a toddler
(If anything is phrased oddly or misspelled I apologize; I'm literally half asleep and using only one eye 😅)

I have a few for the doctor, one
12: while at the doctor to get a refill on my asthma medication, my dad brought up the concern that my 9yo little brother was getting fat. The doctor came over to where I was sitting hunched over on the table, grabbed my stomach and said "looks like you're getting a little chunky too."
18: had a spontaneous really bad breakout of cystic acne. Went into get looked at, first thing out of the doctor's mouth was "what happened to your face?!"
27: best friend of 15 years had unalived herself 3 months earlier, and I had gone in for a prescription refill on my anxiety/ depression meds. Doctor said that I still shouldn't be so upset because "at least it wasn't your father, mother or child."
These were all different doctors by the way

I’m single because the great love of my life passed away suddenly 4 years ago. I’m too old to bring that kind of baggage into someone else’s life. I’ll never get over it.
The doctor thing; I was having serious gyno problems. I had PCOS and a large cyst burst. I ended up in the ER and my abdomen was full of blood and fluid. I didn’t have insurance, so there was nothing they could do for me. The hemorrhaging kept up. Not heavy hemorrhaging, but even a small amount isn’t good. The tests they ran in the ER showed a large tumor on my left ovary that appeared to be malignant. The ACA happened a few weeks later. By then I was in so much pain that I could barely stand. Ovarian cancer is hard to beat, even if it’s caught early. The stupid insurance company my ex husband picked sent me to an OB/GYN. I had all the paperwork that showed the hemorrhaging and the tumor and all the problems I was having with it. She never even looked at it. She asked me if I was sexually abused. “Who hasn’t?” She handed my papers back to me and told me to get counseling. I got divorced and got my own insurance. My doctor took one look at the paperwork, repeated the tests, and told me I needed surgery immediately. The tumor was malignant, but it wasn’t ovarian cancer. It happened to be malignant endometrioma, which fused my ovary to my pelvis. It was a mess. There was a lot more and another year later it spread and I had a full hysterectomy. If I’d listened to Counseling Lady, I’d be dead.

have you ever held a grudge against a teacher.
mine was my 7th grade home room teacher. She hated me from day one no clue why and tried to make my yr 7 and 8 in grade school hell. So I became best friends with her son just to piss her off and proceed to refuse to call her by her last name when ever I came over to his house to hang out. We're off school Grounds "Karen" I'm not calling you Mrs. W. Still call her by her first name 30+ years later and she still hates me.

I had the same prom experience. This was when I was a junior. I wasn't ditched right away but she did have a talk with the guy she just broke up with and suddenly it was just the two of them for the rest of the night.
I was so crushed that the following year in the senior prom, another girl who was apparently genuinely into me got upset because I thought I was being pranked or her asking me was a dare or something. I just came to hang out with the homies anyway.
High school experience was pretty bad for me but I guess it taught me a thing or two going into uni since I was able to graduate without any drama, though that's partially also because the people around me were also more mature.

On the 'small x on mobile ads' thing:
I have had nothing but ads I have to click like 6 different buttons on to actually close recently and it's getting very irritating. Gotta wait for 5 seconds and hit a >> and then wait for ANOTHER 5 seconds to hit an X and then it lpens another blank overlay with the ad's icon and a big blue button that says 'download now' with ANOTHER X 5 seconds later AND THEN THAT ONE OPENS UP A HALF-SCREEN GOOGLE PLAY WINDOW THAT I HAVE TO CLOSE AS WELL. Just to get part a single freaking ad.

54:51 Starship Troopers. What Heinlein envisioned as a merit-based society at war with Communist aliens was turned into a farce about living in a Fascist nation. The powered armour was nowhere to be seen, the Bugs lacked any technology. In the book, a small squad of Mobile Infantry can hop around, laying waste to anything in their path. The book features dozens of lightly-armed soldiers getting torn about by each Bug. It's like turning The Moon is a Harsh Mistress into a first-person shooter game.

I'm from Ukraine. Lots of stuff are now normal that are unheard of in XXI century Europe, mostly messed up, but sometimes glorious. Or just weird, like, recepies for the Molotov cocktails are normal thing to talk about.
Also, unrelated to the war, Easter and spraying girls with water is a tradition here (not sure about sticks), it's done in the Monday after and is considered a good luck. But I guess these days it's mostly done as an activity during festivals, so everything is consensual. St. Andrew's day though... There is a tradition that if any woman in the household is looking for the marriage, all boys around are completely justified to still something from the household (preferebly something absurd) and hide it in a random places. It's considered a sign of affection. I haven't ever seen people doing it, and I'm pretty sure it's something that only happens in small communities (otherwise somebody definitely will less than appreciate it and call the police), but apparently it's still a thing or at least was in early 2000-th, and I'm not sure it only affects people who are looking for marriage.

australian magpies are completely different birds than eurasian magpies, they just happen to share a name. eurasian magpies are in the corvidae family and are related to crows and ravens. australian magpies are in the artamidae family and are related to butcherbirds.
