charles haas A piece like La Catedral (I mention this piece because most people know it) takes me 3 weeks. And then I need another 3 weeks until I feel psychologically secure enough to perform it. The better your technique, the faster you study pieces. A prelude a by Tarrega is something I can do in a few hours. Segovia might claim he practiced 6 hours a day but I don't hear it. Overall he is very sloppy, not very precise and his chords play (colouring and connecting chords) is just very very poor and so on. The girl in the video has a better technique and she is therefore better at displaying her musical ideas. I practice 4 hours a day, 45 minutes of Giuliani's 120 arpeggio's, Gangi scales(you can do Segovia scales, it doesn't really matter) for 45 minutes, some slur study and then I focus on some pieces for two hours. I do take breaks though. If you do this for 10 years, you can become very good. Everything I do more than 4 hours isn't really focused practice anymore. Sorry that I talk a lot about myself but to give you some idea what it might take to become very good.
AllinTwilight well that gives me hope, cause I have no technique. im self taught. I know that if take lessons ill be better. I have yet to make it all the way through allegro solmne, but what I can play I can play at speed. just I only had 1 year of guitar class in school. 6 years me just trying myself. and as far as Segovia, I think he was sloppy because his fingers were slowly turning into boiled chicken
Memorizing all the fingerings, chord invertions, and especially playing tremolo...What I project!!! But also how beautiful. Determination, discipline and will power. RESPECT!!
Another awkward guitarist who can't connect with the audience and just drills the pieces and doesn't understand the music. The Dyens piece was missing all the flavour of the rhythms and dissonances. It didn't even feel that she was playing music, it felt as if she was just doing homework.. And she has to read from a piece of paper to talk about a piece that she has played for like 8 years? Come on...Then again her technique is impressive and I respect that.
Her tone is much better than in her earlier years.Or maybe it is just the quality of the videos is better,I don't know.Great player.will eventually be one of the best ever

+SelfRevolution37 She's just good at the stuff you can practice slow and understand. If she ever had to dance Salsa, or Son, she would be screwed.
