Gregg Alexander didn’t like the exhaustion he got from touring plus he wanted to focus more on producing.
i fell in love with this song a few years ago and to this day its still my fav song of all time.

This kid's simple but good little album helped me get through the rugged heroin years. I truly appreciate it. I would not be surprised if he hasn't been big since this because he doesn't think it worth it to be part of that "Hollywood" , rich, famous, nasty and phony scene that comes with it. I damn sure wouldn't. My music is for it's own sake. Money? That's what jobs are for.

First time I heard this I was high as all hell, and when he sang the line "I burned my Beatles records because she hated number nine" I literally couldn't stop laughing because I got the reference and I realized just how indescribably awesome Alexander was as a singer to use that in his lyrics

Someone asked what this song is about- it's about doing coke. "I can't take it alone" he can't take the coke alone... he'd rather do it with someone else... hence the line I don't even love you... we weren't even friends... its just that I can't take it alone. Amazingly screwed up story plays out in the lyrics of the song. Love the song though & the whole album, still after all these years.
I've always thought it was about just not being able to be alone (and the troubles that come from that) including drugs. Great song. The whole album is amazing

i know that, im a big 80s fan too. I miss the 80s and some of there songs have sorta a late 80s feel to them. I do like alot of 90s britpop as well like supergrass, suede, oasis etc.

This song is really cool too, besides that. Also, I think he kills himself in the end... Thats the "ending". I think would be a fitting end to this terrible story he sings about.
