    X3 is an awesome package. PHEV makes it even better. Nice review.

    for Bmw PHEV in general, how long can I run the air conditioner while parked and engine off? I idle when parked waiting for the kids and its so hot but I don't want to run the engine.

    I have a RAV4 Prime ordered, I would have considered this car too but I’m too far from service and the EV range doesn’t compare.

      Oh for sure. Way more range and utility from the Prime. When are you expecting it? Hard to get a Prime though.

    Just signed the contract on this same car yesterday. Delivery time, somewhere around end of September but will be the new face-lifted version (I live in Germany). Have tried to find reliable pics of what the face-lift will look like. Any ideas? Also ordered the M-Sports Seats as the normal sports seats are currently not available with the passenger side lumbar support. Have you ever sat in or drove using the M-Sports seats? Thanks 👏

    Thanks Brian. I have a gas 3 & X and daily an i3. I love the EV powertrain so much that I’m sitting out for the next iteration, whatever it is - the NA version of the “iX3”. (I can’t believe dealerships nixed it for the NA market.). They should pull a Tesla and allow direct sales.

    • @toronado455
      @toronado455 4 роки тому

      No automakers can do direct sales in the USA. I don't even know how Tesla gets away with it, but maybe because they are new.

      @@toronado455 it’s law in most states. Lobbyists for car dealers and other interested groups fight to keep or expand the present system. The last number I heard was dealerships add 30% to the cost of a car.

      @@glenf4115 My understanding is dealerships make most of their money in the service dept, and in used car sales. Personally, I just don't like having to deal with a middleman. I think it would be much more convenient to purchase direct. I'm not sure it would result in lower transaction prices though.

    This a a great vehicle. Where these makers go wrong ... the short EV range. They need to have 40-50 miles of electric range (a la Chevy Volt) to be practical for electric driving. I’d never spend the extra money for 16 miles of electric range, for 40-50 miles, no brainer.

    • @gman76utube
      @gman76utube 3 роки тому +1

      For you 50 miles, for me 25 is fine. I live 10 miles from work. Drive back n forth, plug in at night, good enough.

    I live near a highway, and I uses it when I go to work. If I need to use the engine for whatever reason while I am on the highway, the engine would turn on while cold, when I am doing 100 km/hr... I am assuming manufacturers like BMW has some ways to protect the engine?

    • @InternetDude
      @InternetDude 4 роки тому +1

      It should be fine. If you’re worried turn the gas engine on 2 mins before you hit the highway.

      They have been making similar systems for almost a decade now - the 23kW gas generator in an i3 can sit for months before its needed.

      If your vehicle is unreliable, it can be very annoying, even if it is still under warranty. My friend’s sister in law traded her X5 for a MDX, because the X5 was always at the dealership for warranty works.
