Cork is known as the rebel county, most of its inhabitants think that is because of the county's roll in the Irish war of Independence, but it is actually because of the areas support for Perkin Warbeck and Lambert Simnel, it doesn't go down to well when a Dubliner points that out during a drinking session. Henry said of the Irish after , "I suppose they will crown an ape next". 😂. Thanks Hilbert, I enjoyed it.
Didn't know that, although now you say it it does make sense! That's very interesting, I'll see if I can mention that in Part II of Rebellions in the next video in the series! Awesome nugget of knowledge there, thanks a million!
Great video Hilbert. Also, I must be 12 as I still find it hilarious that the auto-subtitles are convinced you're saying "Greased Up Thomas" rather than Rhys Ap Thomas.
Hahaha probably my Northern pronunciation doesn't help things along either! Dutch and Frisian words mixed in provide almost as much fun as the Welsh names!
Thanks for the Ricardian mention at 4:07 most people who r not from the UK don’t know who Ricardians are. Which is why it would be an excellent topic for a video when you’re done with Henry VII. :)
Thanks for doing these! We're doing this for A level and these videos really help to update my notes on the extra detail. It would be cool if you could do a video about Wolsey but I know you probably want to cover the Tudors in order
I am enjoying your videos, and have a questions, "have you done anything about Empress Maud [a.k.a. Princess/Queen Matilda]?" That is a fascinating story, with the kind of intrigue you seem to like. I have read three treatments that seemed to be about entirely different people, the topic obviously needs better treatment. If you have done it, where can I find it, and if you haven't would you be inclined to do so? Best wishes.
Thank you, I'm glad to hear you're enjoying them! That sounds like a really good idea for a video, I'm quite full up now but I'll add it to my video list and I'll look into it for a future date! Thanks again for the suggestion!
Turns out Richard never killed them and they were exiled. Then Henry Tudor killed one when he came back to claim the throne but allowed the elder to retire in Devon as edward eras
The house of York (Richard Plantagenet) could claim the throne through his descent from Lionel of Antwerp, the second surviving son of Edward III. On it's own the Yorkist line was junior to the Lancastrians.
Just for clarity's sake, that isn't what a pretender is. The meaning of "pretend" in English has changed. It didn't used to mean feigning. It meant to attempt to become. So a pretender wasn't someone acting like they were a different person, but someone trying to obtain a different position. For example, James II's son James and his son Charles are known as the Old and the Young Pretender, not because they pretended to be different people in the modern sense, but because they were trying to obtain the throne.
798jasmine I’ve not had the time to dedicate to making part 2 although you might find this playlist helpful: ua-cam.com/play/PLWHb-MbcZ9ko0CtKlRzZTj-zzIIcubk84.html Best of luck with the exam!
Plantagenets most famous kings were Henry II Edward I and III and Richard I. So everyone is named Henry, Edward or Richard. Also Edward IV marriage to Elizabeth Woodville leads to there being a number of Elizabeths right down to James I daughter through whom we get George I and then there are six Georges. Lastly every generation since Victoria has had at least 1 who had Albert as one of there four given names including Prince Harry.
I thought Lambert impersonated Edward (Teddy) Plantagenet, Duke of Warwick. Which was pretty stupid because Henry the 7th had the real Duke in the tower. Perkin Warbeck impersonated the younger brother of Edward V, Richard of York. Well I don't believe that warbeck really was Richard, I also don't think that Richard III had the boys executed. It doesn't make any sense as he had them declared illegitimate. Why go through all that trouble if you're just going to kill them? Not to mention he wasn't even in London when the boys "disappeared". Personally I think Margaret Beaufort had the boys killed during the failed rescue attempt. Her son would have never become king while those boys lived regardless if he married Elizabeth of York or not. Her husband Lord Stanley was high enough in the court to have access to the Tower and she was part of the conspiracy to free the Princes. I wouldn't call myself a Richard III supporter, and he did a lot of evil things during his 2-year reign. But I don't see him murdering his nephews. It would only work against him, and he was smart enough to know that. Trouble is he was so hated by the end of his reign that everybody believed that he was responsible.

Oh cousin Gerald, what did you get us into now.
I see the Game of Thrones connections growing with every video.
That needs to be a video at some point, there honestly are just so many!
Already hyped for it! :D
i knew about some of the bigger ones, but damn there are a lot in this video.
Game of thrones is based upon the wars of the roses
When is part 2 coming out? It's been nearly a month!

History With Hilbert I'll look forward to that one, Thanks.
I can imagine Henry VII eying John de la Pole in court with Sunshine of your Love playing in the background while planning his arrest
Gotta love some Flemish merc’s
They sit and throw waffles at the enemy
is there a part 2 to this?
Great video Hilbert. Also, I must be 12 as I still find it hilarious that the auto-subtitles are convinced you're saying "Greased Up Thomas" rather than Rhys Ap Thomas.

Rhys ap Thomas is my 16th great grandfather and I still carry the last name Thomas
Thanks for the Ricardian mention at 4:07 most people who r not from the UK don’t know who Ricardians are. Which is why it would be an excellent topic for a video when you’re done with Henry VII. :)
Juan Ferreira what is a Ricardian?
John de la Pole was actually the Earl of Lincoln! His younger brother, Edmund, was the 3rd Duke of Suffolk.
Thanks for doing these! We're doing this for A level and these videos really help to update my notes on the extra detail. It would be cool if you could do a video about Wolsey but I know you probably want to cover the Tudors in order
My father was Thomas. From 1812 to 1890, patrilineally, I'm descended of alternating generations of Georges and Thomases.

Love your videos Hilbert, keep up the good work. I've always had an interest in history and your videos help fuel my curiosity.
Very interesting keep up the great work.
Cheers man, glad you're still enjoying the videos!

best quote by king henry:
*"money hoes and clothes, blunt smoke coming out my nose, is all a nigga knows"*

Oh man i thought this was about Henry VII, Holy Roman Emperor And his battles in Italy :(
One day I'll get onto that!
Too many Henries. Makes you wonder if the people in KCD are actually talking to you...
Wow, thanks a lot, so much more useful than my History Teacher. I'll ace these A-Levels thanks to Hilbert
Epsiode 4 or part 2 pls, these vids are very good, much appreciate
Could you do Something about the Germanic Tribes
Got a few things in the pipeline that you might find interesting
Sounds good thank you :D
Which ones, when, where?

Thanks again Hilbert!
(Also, I do hope you read my comment under your video response to a Lindybeige video about some TV production)
I try to get back to people's comments although that one happens to be my oldest one!
No problem - I think I only left it yesterday or the day before. But I meant what I said. Oh, and there's a £50 bet there too!
Is there a rebellions part 2? been going through you videos and i haven't seen it
fun series and i love your vids
Thank you! Thought it was about time I put up a Part III!
something that henry vii did was that he had humphrey stafford executed at tyburn, which was usually where peasants were hanged
Where's part ii of this?? Can't seem to find it...my exam is on Wednesday....aha....help??

great video
Thanks man!
You tease Hilbert! LOL Hurry up with the next one! :)
yay more henry vii
Wow I love this video 😂😂😂😂 useful for revision and funny lol
Good video, one small criticism: Richard III's son Edward of Middleton died in 1484 not 1480.
You know what they say
"Just because your paranoid doesn't mean that they aren't out to get you"
another great video!
The flashing circles in the purple background were a bit distracting. Love the video though!
Thanks for the advice, I'll try and change it up in my next video in the series!
Ummm where's part 2 of this it has been a year still looking forward to this
Great video! Where is the next part?
Nice Foo Fighters reference. :)
England needs to stop naming its heirs Richard lest the curse of the Richard name continues.
When will there be more episodes! You’re the best

John Cardinal Morton , formerly Bishop John Morton ....
How different a world without Tudors!
At the chard with descendants of Richard of York, you put Edward IV as Edward V
does anyone have the link to the second video on tudor rebellions, can't seem to find it
tis been 3 years and still no part 2:(
It's been 3 years, where is part 2?
8:41 pretty sure that is Whitby Abbey in the back ground,
Edward Prince of Wales (son of Richard III) died in April 1484, not 1480.
What about Margaret of York
Can you please release part 2 quick I’m making my A Level notes on Henry VII via your videos because the books are too boring and my exams are soon😭😭
Can you do stuffs on the crusades and the Eighty years war?
I cant believe its not....
Boo Henry the Usurper! Up with rightful King Richard III! 🏵
