    Justin,
    Thanks for your help on this, I love my Kamado Joe Classic (2017) edition and I think it is perfect size wise for my wife and I (Having a few friends over and I definitely see why a bigger grill would help depending on what you are making). Here are my pros and cons to supplement your list
    Pros:
    - I have been grilling for over 20 years but being able to set the temp and rely on the fact it stays steady is unreal!
    - The ash bucket is brilliant
    - Being able to shut down the airflow to reuse the charcoal is unreal
    - Getting the grill up to temp is surprisingly fast (compared to an offset smoker)
    - The fact that you can get the grill hot enough to self clean is brilliant (thinking of bringing my cast iron pans in for a deep clean)
    Cons:
    - The only significant downside that I have come across is the top vent seems to get gunked up with regular use and requires regular cleaning to keep it from sticking.
    Recommended add-on: The JoeTisserie is phenomenal, I wasn't sure how much I would like a rotisserie without an infrared heat source, but being able to add a light smoke flavour (British spelling) at the same time as getting the self baste of the rotisserie has reset the mark!
    Man, thank you so much. your videos are amusing, getting the other youtubers and manufacturers together for helpful tips and tricks is great and I've definitely improved my outputs accordingly.
    The grill has officially been inaugurated
    - Ribs: check
    - smoked pulled pork: check
    - single rib boneless Ribeye ~2 1/2" (reverse seared): check
    - Rotisseried and smoked chicken (two even): check
    - Rotisseried and smoked pork belly (that's right, rotisseried and smoked then seared skin): check and highly recommended
    - Super low beef jerky: check (reminds me of the old beef jerky from when I was a kid in Wyoming)
    - Smoked salmon: check
    - Crispy skin chicken: check (I need to work on this one more)
    - Pizza is on the list of to do's
    Thanks again, subscription must!

    I bought my Kamado Joe in 2006 and have never had a problem with cracking of any ceramic parts. The only way that opening the lid would bother anyone is if they had a defective shoulder joint caused by an injury My 110 lb wife can do anything and everything on our KJoe. It's a great product with excellent customer service.

      Great feedback. Keep in mind, though that I'm not making up these changes...you can see them in the video. Why would kamado joe redesign their entire hinge assembly and firebox if the older styles were perfect already? Also, check out some of T-roy and Beer and BBQ with Larry's videos and you can see the issues they had with the hinge. From personal experience I can tell you that I've owned 3 kamado joes before this and the were all great products but each one without fail had the firebox crack until this one...and KJ replaced them all immediately. My inclination is redesigning the firebox was a self defense move since they are on the hook for it.

    If you turn the vent cap on the BGE so the "Big Green Egg" letters are sitting on the backside of the grill, there's no "flippy flippy". There's a small protruding piece of cast on the vent adjustment that prevents the adjustment plate from flipping outwards that way when it's properly aligned. Just FYI. Great review!

    Excellent review Justin! Wow, Kamado Joe has came a long way with improvements! This thing is a beast! Can't wait to see it in action. I about busted a gut laughing, when I saw my mug on that dollar bill!!!! Dude, you are such a natural at this! I know I've said that before, but seriously, you got some awesome talent!

    A possible solution for the fire box divider. Use some threaded rod long enough to stick through the charcoal grate, and it should hold the divider upright without needing to be bolted to the grate.

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  7 років тому +1

      That's an interesting idea. Thanks of the tip, Bruiser2117.

    • @kevinmason9579

      Divider is NOT bolt in. Simply insert the prongs into the matching holes in the grate. It’s quite rigid and stable.

    Great review. Few years I ago cheaply dipped my toes in the Kamado water with cheap char-griller Kamado for $225. After five years showing its age (who knew?) And been looking to upgrade. My wife thinks I'm nuts of course, my food isn't going to be drastically better, but they're fun toys. Fun how you interact with other UA-camrs or whatever you're called. Nice you have wife that tolerates your many grills, mine looks over my shoulder reading reviews and sighs.

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  7 років тому

      LOL. My wife did too, but now that the youtube thing is taking off she's not as strict on me as she used to be. lol.
      The Akorn is a great starter Kamado. 5 years is about right. I have a friend who bought one that needs work after 2 years. He lives near the ocean though. One thing to keep in mind is a lot of the replacement parts can be bough fairly cheaply from Chargriller. For example, I think it was $45 bucks for the entire lower ash assembly when I checked a couple years ago. That's not as fun as a new grill, of course, but if you want to buy some time while your deciding what to get next, it's an option.

    Just grabbed a 22" weber smokey mountain yesterday, and they had a 2xl big Green egg that caught my eye. The size is awesome, but it seems like the kamado Joe's are just far more user friendly and that divide and conquer system is awesome. Looking like the big how is the one to get; someday...

    I have the regular sized 2017 Kamado Joe and absolutely love it, my three other smokers are mostly gathering dust to be honest. Just wish it was a tad larger, can only do briskets up to about 12 pounds with some careful maneuvering on the grate. Big Joe looks awesome!

    I own several grills myself and have been thinking about downsizing to maybe the "one" to rule them all. Internally in my brain though I have been protesting the price of the Summit with the table.

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  7 років тому

      Hey Pete,
      Tough decision. For what it's worth, if I had to pick just one, it would be the Summit...but ONLY if it had the cart. The cart and all the features that come with it are what puts it over the top in the "if I could only have one" category. The KJBJ would probably be my second choice it could also be (this might be surprising since it's so much cheaper) but it would be the 26 inch kettle with a Slow 'N Sear.
      I could live with any of those and be happy with them.
      Let me know what you end up deciding. I'm curious. lol.

    The only thing that made me cringe in the video was the fiberglass gasket. I had one on my Broil King Keg. It leaked like crazy after about 10 to 20 cooks. It drove me nuts!! I ended up replacing it with a gold old fashioned felt gasket. In me experience they hold up much better. Now the KJ gaskets may be much better quality but I will be curious to see how this one lasts. However, It would not stop me from getting a new KJ.I love that new top damper, the ash catcher, the pedal firebox, and the air assist lid. These are all awesome improvements. Great video Justin. Thanks for the unboxing!
    And also a big Rog, for the Summit one-year review.

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  7 років тому

      Hey John,
      You know what's interesting? I have had the exact opposite experience with those types of gaskets. The one on my Summit leaks but I think it's actually because of the way the lid closes on it...the gasket itself is in good shape. But my keg and akorn both did great with them and the felt one fell off within 10 cooks on my BGE. I guess it's just one of those luck of the draw things.
      I'll try to remember to report back how this one holds up over time. I sure hope it does well...would be a pain to replace.
      Justin

      They did a large amount of cooking when testing the new gasket with zero issues. I doubt those other gaskets were developed in conjunction with the same American made gasket company. Davlyn oven gaskets. Should be great quality..........I hope.

      Hey Guapo,
      I think KJ is definitely onto something. The kick ash is really nice. I never thought about loading outside the cooker...I bet that keeps all the fines and dust of the way. Great top. I feel like it saves me a ton of time between cooks as well. Wish I would have thought of it. lol.

    Nice review, and great to see the new hinge. My old school Bog Joe hinge needs adjusting every 6 weeks or so as it starts to "sag", even with adjustng it has caught me out twice.

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  7 років тому

      Hey Spence,
      Thanks for the feedback. When you say "sag" what you do you mean? I want to know what I need to be keeping an eye out for.
      Thanks in advance,
      Justin

    • @spencerJtye
      @spencerJtye 7 років тому

      Hey Justin, sorry for any confusion. The "sag" is on the original hinges with the spring tension system. If i adjust the lid so that it stays fully open then within around 6 weeks i will notice that the lid from fully open will drop a little, say 1/4 -1 /2 an inch, not fully shut but just drop a little, However, if i do not re-tension at that point within another week or so it will drop on its own, that has happened twice. I have now set a monthly reminder to re-tension the springs. From what i read not all Big Joe spring hinges need this regular adjustment it seems to have been a batch issue.

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  7 років тому

      What a pain. Have you asked Komodo Joe about it? Their customer service is usually pretty good in the past.

    • @spencerJtye
      @spencerJtye 7 років тому

      Yes nothing bad to say about their customer service. I actually had a spare hinge assembly as KJ sent me one with a replacement base, which arrived damaged from the dealer. Both the original and the replacement hinges had the same issue. Rather than ask for a third i was looking around to see if i could get an uprated spring set. I think KJ have now said a version of the air hinge may retrofit to the older model so i might just buy that. I'll wait to see how folks like yourself get on with the new hinge first.

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  7 років тому

      That's pretty smart before you spend more money. Feel free to hit me up in a few months here or on Facebook (remind me of this conversation) and i'll let you know; however, if my lid sags, I'll definitely talk about it in a video. It just may take me a while to get to it.

    nice innovations! I always thought the gaskets sucked and told them so. The lid weight was an issue too especially with many women in the family. I have been a Costco roadshow rep for KM, so I foresee better sales coming up now. Fabian

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  7 років тому +1

      Hi Fabian,
      Yeah, the lid weight was the worst thing about it for me. What they have done here is really cool. The gaskets seem solid too. Like I said in the video, I've heard that before so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

    Great review,
    I just bought new big joe from costco. I have tried to smoke tri tip and one 40 mins into smoking at 250 noticed the chimney cap is leaking and that nasty leak was dropping on the ceramics. Also, the fire box being broken into six portions is not that much of a deal, I still prefer the cracked version. The ceramics quality...seems like BGE has better ceramic quality. I am seriously considering returning it to Costco and heading to BGE dealer. I know you are a Weber guy, went to check out the summit, man what happened between performer at $400 and summit at $2000. I do not want to pay $1,600 for hinge, metal heat deflector and a gas starter, otherwise they look identical.

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  7 років тому

      They look identical in pictures but they really aren't in person. Weber clearly didn't do a good enough of a job distinguishing them though because I hear that just about every day. That's on them. lol.
      I had the same issues with my cap on my KJ (I talked about it in the next video...the one we are commenting on was an initial review of the new features). KJ is coming up with a replacement cap to stop the leaks. You should ask them about it.
      I don't know if BGE has better ceramic or not but even if they do, it's covered under warranty. There is still a lot more to like about the KJ. You'll figure that out if you switch. The only real reason to get a BGE is just because you want one more...which is a completely valid reason in my book. :-)
      Thanks for watching!

      Don't know about one more. But KJ is about to be evacuated back to Costco. I gave it another chance yesterday to smoke tri tip at 225, low and slow. So, I went to get a nap only to find out in the morning that the KJ coals died on me and my tri tip just sitting there at 80 internal....and I am not a newbie at bbq. Yeah, I think we are over with KJ at this point. Changed my mind about BGE, turned around and got Primo Oval XL and am so excited to smoke some brisket on it when it arrives, the primo oval is just made for that-smoking oval shaped briskets lol:)

    Of the Kamado's type grills I like the Kamado Joe, the big reason I like the cart I feel it is much better design and won't get wobbley and not tip over. My neighbor tipped over a large Green Egg and broke it. I was wondering if Costco is selling these on the road shows.

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  7 років тому

      Hi Jim,
      I agree with you on the cart. I almost dropped a big green egg once too. It was a medium though. It was so a smart thing to do for KJ to make a sturdy cart that isn't tippy and doesn't take an hour to put together. Why they don't all do that is beyond me!

    Nice! Getting a new Big Joe like that is awesome! My Big Joe is the 2015 model. It is lacking of all of those enhancements except the ash pan and D&C system. Mine even has the old bamboo shelves. It sure would be nice to get that new hinge and cap to replace the ones I have now. I'm a little wary of the new gasket. My old Akorn has something like that.

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  7 років тому

      Hey Larry,
      You are the second person to mention the gasket. I never had any problems with mine...maybe I just didn't give it enough time to start acting up. Cool that you still have the bamboo. Mine didn't last a single summer. They rotted from the inside out. I still think they look slick though.
      I read on the internet that they will be selling the hinge as a retrofit. At first, I don't think that was the plan so I'm glad they were able to make it fit.
      Have a great weekend, my friend.

    Wait, that firebox divider has to be bolted at all times to use it? Does it not stay in place with just those stubs? I think the pre-2017 models worked with just setting it in there...was it unstable? Seems like a strange change.

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  7 років тому

      The previous one sat in there fine because it rested on slots built in to the firebox. The problem with the old one was you could not pull it in or out without pulling out the fire ring (it didn't fit past it) so I never ended up using it.
      Technically you don't have to use the bolts, I guess. But it seems like there is a reason they put them there. It doesn't take much to tip it over.
      Like I said though, this is my first impressions. I'll give it a shot and report back what I think.

    I have a BGE and I was looking to buy another one to keep where I work (I live and work in two different states) and never questioned the possibility of buying any other grill than a BGE, but this video has convinced me I need to check the Kamado Joe out.
    Two questions...1) Do you know of any vendors in North Dakota? 2) In the event of a component of the multi-piece firebox failing/cracking, are they individual parts replaceable or do you have to buy a whole new ring with all of the pieces?
    First time viewer of your videos...I'm really liking them. Thanks!

      Yeah, it gets tricky there because there are so many factors to way in. I could do a whole video on warranties and still not cover it all. You have the actually warranties, what they cover, what they don't, exceptions (both good and bad), logistics, availability of parts, customer service interactions, etc...
      It just got to be too much.

      I never made that out to be a big deal. I just made it out to be something that was an improvement.
      Sometimes people get so used to using their products they don't even realize they're doing a workaround to how it was intended to function. It's like learning to drive a car that doesn't have third gear. After a few years, you may forget you don't have it because the car doesn't "Need it" but that's not how it was supposed to run.
      So this is just a fun way of drawing attention to the improvement. And that's what this was, more about the improvement then the "problem" (which I agree isn't a huge deal.)

    We watch UA-cam videos in den on smart big screen tv. Showed your videos and everyone all the others to the family. They love watching. You are #1 on the list. Can you love BBQ too much was their favorite. Your video editing is killer. We have laughed a lot. Oh, by the way, your food is great too. I'm seeing now anyone can shoot video, but the biggest part of success is in editing what you shoot for presentation, entertainment, and educational value. Everyone brings something different. Some are technically spot on and serious, while others are down right hilarious. We want and need all of it. Keeps it from being boring. As HMB at Heavy Metal BBQ would say "Smoke On"

      Thanks Phil,
      Editing is the most important part, I'm learning. You have to have good content...and then you have to be willing to cut good content when it doesn't fit. I think that's one of the bigger mistakes you tubers make. They leave in stuff that is unnecessary or irrelevant because it's something they feel like they need to say instead of sticking to the main theme of the story (or they don't realize they are telling a story.)

      I totally agree. Also, the hinge seems to be inspired by komodo kamado and the divide and conquer from Primo...but heres the thing I like. They are looking to solve problems. I really like that. Every thing they do is a solution to a problem or limitation that other people were not able or willing to do on their cookers. They will do well if they keep at it.

      It's a nice cooker. I've had some issues with the top though. You might want to look into that before you buy it. I now they are planning on coming out with a fix soon. (It leaks liquid down the back of the cooker and the paint has been pealing off for some people.) I'd hold off till they get that lined out but other than that it's great.

There are a few others I have been looking at the Weber has always been a family favourite, I just am looking at the ceramic firebox. I had a look for your Weber here and doesn't appear they have many stockists here. It's still pending approval?(Not 100% sure). you have a few grills at your disposal. KJ. Egg, Summit, and your WSM at least from the videos. What else do you have and do you us them all and what do you use the most? Do some get used for different cooks or could they all do the same? WMS i know wouldnt be good for the hot sear cooks. But if your smoking with the others would you need a WSM?

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  7 років тому +1

      Hi Philo,
      Thanks for asking. I used to have a handful of grills that all had separate jobs that they did best but since I started youtube, I've had opportunities to add a few that I don't really "need"...but I enjoy having them and gives me variety and creative options to come up with UA-cam content.
      The WSM is definitely not one that I "need" but I love it. If somebody was looking for just a pure smoker (not versatility), I think it's the best bang for the buck. Hope this makes sense.

    • @KenAdams426
      @KenAdams426 7 років тому

      For sure. Thats what i have is the 18" WSM. But i really need to justify the price (meaning convince the wife)of going for a ceramic device. KJ was the top of my list since it offered so much more for the price than the BGE. But now this Gorilla Grill has peaked my interest. But first would need to justify the use for it. Dont want to pay for it and not use it. Along with my WSM i just have a Weber 22" standard performer. Which does everything i need it to. But the KJ or GG would be a nice new toy and maybe wouldnt need the performer anymore.

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  7 років тому

      If you are trying to "justify" price, I think the best value upgrade you can make is a 26 kettle...with the next step up being to add a Slow N Sear and then replacing the WSM with a 22 WSM (if you need the space.)
      The main advantage to kamados is convenience, versatility, aesthetics, and just to try something new. I was told this when I first bought a kamado and I think it's true. I do NOT think the food is going to automatically taste better. (Different and still awesome, yes! Categorically taste better, not really.) I think people who say so aren't experienced cooks coming from Weber kettles. They are mostly new cooks and their food tastes great because they are having a blast cooking, doing it more often, and getting really good at it. Again, that's a generalization and there will be exceptions.
      However, if you want to come down to one awesome, versatile cooker, that is a heck of a lot of fun to use and looks great on the patio these kamados are a great for that.

    I'm assuming the smoked meat that comes off these are closer to a stick burner than pellet grills? Also, what's the closet you can get to stick burner flavor without actually using one?

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  5 років тому +2

      It's actually more similar to a pellet grill (both in ease of use and smoke profile) but you can always add more wood.
      In my experience, the closest I've seen too replicating an offset are a kettle with the slow N Sear and the Weber Smoky Mountain. I am not sure why though. It probably comes down to increased airflow with the Weber Smoky Mountain. Not sure what makes the SNS so similar though. It just is.

    I'd love to see some videos about keeping grills clean and general grill maintenance! Your grills look so clean in every video, what kind of maintenance do you do on them? Do you ever worry about having to do a big deep clean on the kamados, or do you have any tricks for the tough spots where carbon and cooking grease can build up?

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  7 років тому

      LOL. It's funny because I get this question a lot. Honestly, my "secret" if you want to all it that is I usually take a dish towel out every time I cook and whatever grill I'm working on gets wiped down so they never get THAT dirty. Then if I'm going to use a grill in a video, I hit it with windex.
      I'm not really OCD in any other area of my life but I like to keep my grill stuff relatively clean.

    I had heard that the Kamado Joe had thinner or less dense ceramic than the Primo or BGE and was less durable because of that. Any ideas on that?

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  7 років тому

      I don't think it's thinner. Based on the fact that my BGE minimax weighs 90 pounds and the Joe Jr (which appears to be bigger) weighs 70, I think you are right in that it may be less dense. I wouldn't be surprised to find out BGE has better ceramic since they have been doing this longer. With that said the only issue I've had with my KJ's ceramic in the bast have been the firebox and it appears they have fixed that. Also, since they have a lifetime warranty on ceramic (if you buy new), you're covered as long as they are in business.
      With that said, go with your gut. That way you won't second guess yourself later.

I feel like the built quality is perfectly adequate...and that's not code for "crappy but I'm dealing with it." I think Weber did exactly what they needed to do. No more or less. It's not showing any obvious signs of wear or rust and I don't think it will have any surprises any time soon. I really wish they would have done a few things differently (like not put one set of plastic wheels and one set of metal...or redesigned the lower vent so it's not EXACTLY like the kettles (with fake leg sockets and EVERYTHING) but all that was there when I bought it.
      I hope that makes sense. I really appreciate you watching and your kind words.

      It's weird because if you would have asked me 2 years ago, I would have told you this is the LAST thing I could see myself doing. I knew absolutely nothing about cameras, videography, editing, public speaking, or this side of youtube. The learning curve was straight up. I do feel like I have a bit of a knack for it, but I'm not sure why.
      Lone Star Grillz is about 3 hours from me. I went down to their facility a couple years ago to see what they had and met Chris and Amber. I would absolutely LOVE to have one of their offsets. I was looking at horizontals and not verticals but I can't imagine how anyone could be disappointed in a stick burner from them...if you are sure you want to deal with all the issues related to having a stick burner in the first place. The attention to detail is incredible and they are great people.
      I have not seen an M Grill in person but a guy I know from a forum has one and loves it. Sure looks like a solid cooker.
      Isn't it cool to have options!?!?

    I just noticed on my new Kamado, upon close inspection I can see something that resembles hairline cracks on the outer surface of the ceramic. It's all through the surface, so might not be actual cracks but look like crack. This one is mine and I work for Adrenaline Barbecue Company. Though to be honest, Dave Parrish is more of a friend of mine now than client.
      ABCbarbecue is a really great company to be associated with and the Slow 'N Sear is growing in popularity like crazy. There are some really cool things coming in the future so I'm having a lot of fun with it, and it's been a great arrangement for both of us.

      Jeremy Hasselbacher If you don’t it will fall over and then pieces of ash get underneath it and you can’t put it back up....and babying it when you are messing with the coals or cleaning out the ash to keep it from falling over is a bigger pain than bolting it.

      ah, the 12million dollar question. lol.
      My general answer to this question is either the 26 kettle with a slow N Sear is the best value, the Kamado Joe Big Joe is the best ceramic, and the Weber Summit Charcoal grill is probably my all time favorite. I don't think anybody could go wrong with any of those three if you are looking for a "only one" grill. It's just a matter of what you have to spend.

      Hi Angie,
      I actually think that's a good thing. Sometimes these dial thermometers can be off but you can't even fix them. I have a miniature the Big green egg and probably wouldn't recommend it as you're only Grill. It's great for small cooks but if you ever plan on cooking ribs, briskets or turkeys you'll be happier with an 18.5 inch (large) size... And they don't cost that much more. Hope this helps

    hey great video, we have many bbq/cookers at home (too many) what are the Kamados like as a normal grill (chops, burgers etc)? I have tried the food on them, as in low and slow but never as a grill! trying to get our bbq fleet down to just 1 or 2. the 2017 big joe looks good, also like the Yoder y640.
    cheers

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  7 років тому

      Hey Tugboat,
      I've never had the YS640 but I've heard good things about them. I like pellet grills (have had several) but decided not to go that route simply because of the mechanics involved. Eventually they all break down and theoretically the kamados and Webers will last longer since there is no moving parts. Also, the noise got to me after I while. They aren't super loud but at night when I would sit outside, it just never stopped lol. That said, the food (though not as smokey) is very good and always, always, always looks beautiful. My wife wants me to get another one because it's her favorite of all the cookers we've had.

    Hi Justin, any comments on the vision brand kamado grills sold at Sam's club & home Depot? Can't beat their $500-600 price incl side table etc..

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  6 років тому +2

      Good question. I have never owned one but I've looked at it many times. I have had concerns from the beginning about the fit and finish and some of the design choices. Just to give you one example, the first time I looked at it I noticed there was no separate fire ring and firebox. I thought to myself "there is a good chance that that's going to crack. I hope they have a good warranty"
      The next thing I knew I was hearing on forums that not only were fireboxes cracking but the Vision wasn't willing to replace them until they became nonfunctional. Which is pretty much the same as saying"we are not going to replace cracked fireboxes." That's one of the downsides of going with the cheapest provider. One of the better brands would say "we're sorry that happened, here's your replacement" and then they would work on addressing the problem internally and not pushing up on their customers.
      That's just one example. I have a few more but essentially it comes down to "You get what you pay for" And "warranty is really really important with ceramic grills." They're basically made of glass and will eventually break.
      That said I have some friends that have them them and love them because they cook great and I would be the last person to put down another persons grill.
      But when it comes to giving recommendations, these are supposed to be the last grill you'll ever buy and with that in mind, I'm going to recommend spending a little more to have a better design, better materials, and more forthcoming warranty coverage.

      Hi Tommy,
      I don't know for sure. I really don't know anything about the inner workings or plans of Kamado Joe. I just traded a few emails with Bobby about this grill but that was pretty much it. They are so innovated that it's hard to imagine them coming out with a better gasket and not making it available for sale to existing customers...or even competition.
      Thanks for watching,

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  7 років тому

      Thanks Lumpy,
      I would have used the divider more on my old one but the ceramic didn't fit between the fire ring...therefore I had to pull the whole grill apart to take it in and out which sorta defeated the purpose to begin with. This fits but has a similar drawback. I probably will do the Kick Ash thing at some point. It seems like the best work around. Then again, last time I found the Divide and conquer to work just fine.

      Yeah, I still need you to get the Blaze and let me know what you think. Also, 20 inches really isn't that much smaller when you take out the size of the the firebox. There is really only about 21 inches of span for direct cooking. Soooo....yeah. What's your excuse again? lol

    • @BabyBackManiac

      Thanks Daryl,
      I really liked my BGE when I had it but the features of the KJ make it so much more fun to use. BGE is a bigger brand and more well known though...at least for now. When I sold my old Big Green Egg, it only took a matter of hours. They also have a bigger forum. That said, my wife and I both prefer the red/black to the green. Maybe somebody will offer you a hookup at some point and it will be a moot point. I've heard Grill Dome is another company that has done that for some folks in the past as well. Just FYI.
      No problem on the shout out. It's my pleasure. This video is off to a really good start so hopefully it will help get the word out about the new venture. I love that shirt. The likeness is uncanny. First time I posed like that I was like "Holy crap! He nailed it!" I couldn't stop laughing. Did you draw that?

    I appreciate your review of the Karmado Joe. I'm just starting to get into smoking meats and have been looking really hard at this grill. • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  7 років тому +1

      Yeah, I've had a few pellet grills. I like them for certain things. roasting, baking, smoking (if you don't mind the lighter smoke flavor) are all great and they are super easy to use. What I don't like about them is they can't sear worth a crap without some serious work arounds and they have a rather limited life span due to the mechanical parts. I also find the fan noise and general plugging in to work to be weird. But aside from that, I do like using them.
      Hope this helps,
