The inescapable implosion of Trudeau’s bizarro Liberal party

  • A collapse of their Toronto-St. Paul fortress is just the beginning. All that remains to be seen is how extensive the Liberals’ inevitable ruin will be once Justin Trudeau’s strange, destructive experiment is over. As Liberal activist and strategist Andrew Perez tells Brian, the prime minister has made the once-mighty, centrist “natural governing” party into something unrecognizable - and likely unelectable - by driving out moderates and effectively merging with the NDP. While pundits and politicos gossip about when or whether Trudeau will quit, Perez says Liberals face a more existential crisis, years in the making. The party is lost. And it’s not clear how, or under whom, it can find its way again. (Recorded June 28, 2024)

Pierre Poilievere is very palatable, he is good honest man,who is not an extremist, he is not a homophobe, he is not a mysoginist, he is not going to privatize healthcare…he is a much better human being than Trudeau ever was or ever will be.

Sane people will vote Conservative, particularly at the end of a long Liberal spending spree. But Poilievere has many of the same flaws as Trudeau. He has never done anything in the real world; he is marketed on looks and debating style; he will not be respected on the world stage. On the latter, there is a saying about China that you don't even begin to count in their system until you have managed an entity of 100 million people. So when he sits next to Xi he will just be a bug to him, not that that is all bad, there is no way Canada carries real weight. What we really need is Harper, and on up, not what we are getting from all the political parties at the moment. I can't really think of anyone in the game that I respect.

Two things to consider for those in places like Alberta: Keystone XL got blocked in the US, so even if you leave... As Alberta becomes more prosperous it has some of the wackiest leftist mayors in the country who can't even keep the water running, unfortunately bad voters are an internal problem also, though maybe they would scatter if Alberta left. And right now those liefties are OK with playing the Canada gives us our freebies we can leave the local government to create wealth. If one joins the US, or whatever, they will want to transform those states to give them what they are used to. You could be Minnesota.

I would suggest that it should surprise people that the Conservative Party has remained reasonably close to what they have been for years considering how far off the rails their opponents have gone.
Cutting wasteful spending, bringing down inflation, tougher response to crime, encouraging home building and leaving more in peoples pockets sounds pretty good. If that is what people consider radical these days, anyone who can balance their personal budget every month must be a radical.

Trudo can probably limit damages to Canada and show good faith by pre amptively cancel the carbon tax immediately. That would make sense since we know the next gov will do it anyways.

The liberals NEED that carbon tax money to help keep servicing the interest on the debt they created. The $30B+ revenue is helping them stay afloat and able to sell this hard core socialist ideology. Without that revenue, they would be defaulting on the debt loans. They’ll leave that Pandora’s box for the next government to have to deal with. Until then, they’re keeping the ugly truth about our fiscal problems secret.

Nope and that goes for the voters as well. The states as well because of the never trumpers have made more Canadians further left as well. Thats why I don’t trust any of this shit where Pierre has this in the bag. Because there are too many liberals that will never vote for the other side even in the face of Trudeau being the worst PM ever, they will still vote for him other than Pierre. And that’s a scary country to be in.

This was a great listen. I consider myself centrist but have always voted conservative. As discussed, the current liberal party is not centrist at all right, very left. Put Carney or Clark in… that would give me pause, I would definitely listen to what they say. As part of that though, they would have to thoroughly criticize what Trudeau has done… can the Liberal party handle that approach? I’m d the Liberal party wants to survive… again… they are going to have to torch Trudeau.

Pollieve isn’t saying enough hopefully he’s holding out until elected to hold all those accountable for Canadians unlawful theft of our culture, free speech and way of life. Canadians are generally intelligent people who have financed their lives for decades plus plus plus. Many Canadians now however are dismayed and lost especially our young they know unlike my generation where there was opportunities in many fields, Now are useless degrees in fields flooded with applicants in hope of getting that golden ticket. So sad it use to be the most qualified. Now it’s race, dei etc

There is the fundamental lack of understanding that under Trudeau Liberals Canadian economy transformed dramatically, and not just as it stands now, but also going forward by decade or even more, it is not capable of supporting Canada’s place in a league of prosperous countries. 30% of Canadians are now living in or at the edge of poverty. Two generations of Canadians have little to no hope of ever owning a house and afford having kids. Canadian dream is dead, and social fabric of our society is severely damaged. Trudeau and Singh still think that by delivering a few extra goodies for which they have no money to pay is going to mask grim reality that the economy doesn’t work and that the fabric of society is broken.., well.., at some point we all have to wake to realization that socialism doesn’t work, especially at the stage when it morphs into the Marksism.
Some Canadians may not like Poilievre and his recipes, but at some point we must accept that there current path is untunable.

Polievere understands that the Canadian public is tired of "overspeak" meaning they are tired of pointed headed "intellectuals" telling them or rather dictating to them what is best for them . He is using a time honoured principle , the KISS method ---keep it simple stupid. He is direct and does not use the latest buzz words or tries to overthink and out talk Canadians .He gives in straight forward understandable language what we "the people" see, live through everyday , this is what makes him successful.

Something Brian's guest said bugs me intensely. He said the leader of the opposition is a very negative spot, and has to poke holes in the governments position EVEN IF THEY AGREE WITH IT.
That is the problem with our current system! Oppositions job is to OPPOSE. By any means necessary. Why? How stupid is that? If legislation is good, the vote it in. If it needs tweaking, suggest the tweaks. If it is horrible, then oppose it.
Just being diametrically opposed to anything the government suggests just because is why we have the dysfunctional system we now have
    Drives me crazy

@@LinA-it9vd Disagree. we have far more in common than different. What usually causes problems is how to get to an end.
For example: The Gun Debate. We all want less gun deaths in the world. We just have different ideas on how to achieve that goal. The Anti's only solution seems to be ban them, all, which in IMO is unrealistic, and silly. Some on the pro side have been moved to "More guns=Good' because of that. But could we all get behind putting money and effort into keeping kids out of gangs and the guns that are in gangs? Stop worrying about all of the woke BS and teach our kids how to be good people? Teach them how to be critical thinkers? Teach them so they can have a good fulfilling job? All of these ideas make for better people, and better people are far less likely to resort to violence to solve issues.
Is it always going to work? Of course not, but if it is always 1 or 0, then of course nothing works, because the world is far more than 2 numbers
