Hoping to get one very soon. Picking up my new D-Skwal Darkhov in Yellow/Black tomorrow so I'll be riding with it for a week or two before taking the plunge on the Sharktooth. All being well the Skwal will become my main motorcycle helmet.
I've bought one, though it's great for my (basic) usage such as listening to music and the occasional phone call, some people might feel limited. The battery life is great!

I am looking at the new Shark Skwal i3 with the new brake/stop lights in the back of the helmet that glows red when you brake/stop your bike. I am interested in the Sharktooth intercom that most of the Shark helmets are "prepared" for , I guess that just means that they have a space inside the helmet to fit the system to. Or I will buy a Cardo/Serna or Scala rider intercom if the Sharktooth is not good enough. Otherwise I will buy a Ruroc helmet, their bluetooth/intercom system looks really nice and from what I hear have really good sound for music. The Ruroc intercom unit is like a small brick thing you insert in the back of the helmet, looks really neat and their helmets look great

A bit quite and thin sounding compared to the Sena sm5 I used to have in my old Shark Evoline 3 but as I bought the new Evo one 2 I thought I'd try one out. It's OK if you have Max volume on the Phone or GPS. Actually found it harder to fit in the Helmet too because of the plugs and sockets on the speakers but at least I don't have the big battery lump on the side. Controls need a good poke to operate compared to the Sena though.
@@Championhelmets As I was saying, you need to give the controls a bit of a poke compared to the Sena but it's nice to only have two buttons to press. Just need a good memory for the functions... The controller hardly shows on the helmet which is nice. I'll give a better idea when the lock down is over and I can tour again...
Thank you for the video and it's too bad you skipped over the putting the liner back in. That is the worst problem I had and with the Sharktooth in, the liner seems too big for the helmet. My wife was able to do it, on my side, I was looking at other helmets.
That's exactly why they skipped it. Did you also notice the quick cut off on the video at the end once installed, just as the boom mic starts to flop down. Complete crap video that borders on dishonesty.
@@KhanDisco I agree that the rear boom has to be reworked, I also find the helmet really hot (very warm) in summer but just love the way the front goes all the wayi back and gives me the choice of full face or open face and that I can hear my Garmin GPS indicating the roads instead of me looking at the GPS all the time.
Nice video! I just got my Spartan carbon and I'm looking forward to buying this set. I only have one question. Is there any whisting noise from the unit that is mounted on the outside?
Thanks and I hope you enjoy your Spartan Carbon! The Sharktooth system will typically buffet a bit and it may whistle. Just like any system mounted on the side of the helmet. It will depend on your bike, riding style and conditions but you can expect it to affected by the wind. Does this help?

Our pleasure! To mount the control pad, the best option is to first reinstall the neck roll. While doing so, it's important to make sure that the cable runs through the inside, and the easiest way to do this is to just leave the pad in the helmet while reinstalling. Once the neck roll is back in, you can hide the control pad wire between the neck roll and the cheek pad. Then, you use the adhesive to place it on the outside of the chin bar, next to the microphone. When using the adhesive sticker, it's important to make sure the surface is clean and that it has about 24 hours to stick. Thanks for the comment! I have the evo one 2. Purchased the sharktooth prime. Took the liner out and there is no slot. Velcro is there for everything. So check before you order.
Hello Edward. If that is the case than there must be a manufacturing error. The slot is at the very back of the helmet and can be a little difficult to find. If you look under the lip of the shell there should be a slot in the eps liner. I hope this helped, but if not than please feel free to contact us at Champion Helmets.

I even checked for the slot like 10 times and even sent pictures out to everyone to show that the area has no cut out. I also appreciate you taking the time to review this product. If the slot was present I would have gotten it installed in five to 10 minutes thanks to the video.
Alright so here goes. I will start by saying it took over a week to hear back from shark which I feel is unacceptable. I went to a local dealer they looked at helmets in stock that both had the slot and lacked it. They decided my eps portion was glued in but removable for the headset. They removed it with a bit of effort. And a day later shark got back to me with the same answer.
Can anybody compare the music quality of the prime model vs the original? It seems to be advertising that it has better speakers? My original is really fairly tinny and weak , absolutely fine for calls, but I mostly listen to music .

Well , I ended up buying the prime , my initial thoughts. 1. The speakers are certainly better quality with a capacity to get noticeably louder. This is still not a high spec system, dont think bose. To offset the tinnyness I set my phone to a custom sound equalised setting when its connected. 2. The cabling is of higher quality. 3. The unit attached to the helmet is a lot smaller ( and the old unit was not bulky) its very discrete , weighs next to nothing and there is no noticeable wind noise/ whistle. 4. There are now only two buttons + and - ( the old one had a middle multi function one) this means reading the manual , some functions need a double press some a long press . I keep hitting " redial " by mistake...I may need a bit more time to learn but I would say real world functionality is not any better. 5. Pairing was very simple. 6. The system powers off very easily ( the old system needed an annoyingly long press on the MFD) So overall I am happy , I'm not using it as an intercom, I rarely take or make calls , so the improvement as a music player is a big plus. PS take photos of the helmet padding , how it fits and in which order you take it out !

I only purchased this unit because it fits directly into the helmet. Thats about the only PRO, and that its compact (which may be a CON as discussed below). The CONS are: - Low overall speaker volume - Tinny sounding speakers - Mic is not usable at higher speeds - Unit only allows 1 person to connect to it - Does not allow connection to the cell phone (gps) and another unit simultaneously - Very difficult to memorize which buttons do what. Regularly drop a call or unpair by accident due to one click vs a click and hold. Nightmare to get someone else to connect back to you (they have the power to connect to you, not vice versa). If i did it again, i'd just buy a good deal on any other mesh communicator. Totally worth the extra bucks for the better user friendly interface and compatibility to other models. Anyway, hope this helps you shoppers out there.
Though the pro of the system is its compact size as you mentioned, that does place a lot of constraints on how much the system can offer. Speakers great and the idea to fit inside the helmet with a small exterior button is fantastic . Yes! Since it is also a universal intercom system, meaning it will connect to not just Sharktooth systems, but other branded universal intercom systems. This is a change as the original Sharktooth would only connect to other Sharktooth systems. Hope this answers your question!
the sena 10U for Aria full face lids has a mile range (in reality more like 800 to 900m) and despite the name, will fit most full face helmets including Shark. I hope so as I'm about to buy one!
Hey, sorry but I felt that watching me install the system was more important than watching me fiddle with some wires and put the liner back into the helmet. How can I improve it in the future?

I just bought the same two items and laying the cables and the rest of components was quite easy thanks to your help, but the most difficult part, at least for me, was putting back the collar part of the lining. I was so frustrated of having found the right video with the very exact new toys and were no explanations on the part I could not accomplish. Anyways mate, thanks for the video and keep it up, you are doing great!
@@LoFiRecoverySoundscapes I ended up going with a scala rider. You don’t even need to install speakers. The unit has a 3.5mm jack output so I use earbuds. I can hear music or calls crystal clear at any speed. Tested up to 160+mph.
