Building the Dutch Barn

Building The Dutch Barn was produced for the National Barn Alliance to help inform NY teachers and educators whose classrooms will be raising a small scale wooden Dutch barn model -- about the building techniques called timber framing as well as the history and unique qualities of the Dutch barn.

I’m a local Roll-Off Dumpster hauler in Rotterdam N.Y. Lots of great history here. Schenectady City and County as well. I’m currently hauling a Dutch built barn on Rt.20 Guilderland N.Y. I’ve seen a chestnut beam dated 1724 from inside it. Some of the lumber was salvaged. I actually was able to get my hands on some solid 2x6 white oak. Perfectly preserved. Not sure of age.
