Nope you can do a blind reset, you may have to do this many times as it is hard to do a blind reset given you cannot see what you're doing. The best thing is to put down on paper each step and follow them in order. Also try a manual reset , people say you cannot but holding around button then plug works.

@@DANECHASELLI I mean if there is no picture but sound, you can try blind factory reset, doing the same as if you could see the image as the tv is on so pressing menu will still bring up menu even if you cannot see it. so, press the buttons in order to bring up the menu and factory reset it.
Honestly ... INCREDIBLE ... I looked this 2 minute video and didn't believe any of this would work because ... I had already tried all of it ... to no avail ... and moreover, my TV would do a strange little noise, never heard before, when I turned it on again. BUT ... I had nothing to lose, so after viewing your 2 minute DOCUMENTARY ... I tried again ... exactly as you explained and to my very amazement ... IT WORKED ! ... 7 year old 39 inch cheap 280 dollar RCA HD tv is back on track and working fine again after being on non stop like 18 hours a day every day for about 5 years out of the last 7. RCA is a great brand although for this price, clearly sound is no HIFI but HD image nonetheless great and compares to other brands selling for way higher prices.
@@xxryanxx8697 I did all they say in the video, EXACTLY as they say, but the manual setup I did not do, it was fixed before I had to try it. The first time, before looking the video, I had tried to manually re-setup the tv, but I couldn't, since there was no image on the screen, so it was impossible to manually setup.
I just encountered the same problem 15 min ago and so far nothing has worked...screen is black,but I can see a little movement on the tv,but not enough to do anything in settings or the menu as a matter of fact
@@DVP89 have the same with my tv this morning, tried everything I could find on youtube. Turns out there was one faulty LED backlight in the tv, had to spend about 100-150 to get it fixed.
Any tricks for someone using coax input instead of hdmi? Only one coax port on the tv and hard to do the factory reset when I can’t even see the menus. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After a black screen I powered down, still plugged in ,I grabbed the corner of the TV to turn it around and the picture and sound returned with the power off. Is my TV haunted ?😆
Do a blind reset, also try manual, unplug holding down the around bottom and plug back in, also try leavening unplugged for a day if this does not work then try again. blind reset means you do the same steps without seeing anything.
@@DANECHASELLI on my rca tv there are 2 small bottoms at the bottom then 1 small around button at the top with a menu button around it for left right up down. i did hold down the around center button unplug plug back in, nothing did happen, left it unplugged some time, did try again and it worked after trying 2 more times and it worked when holding it down and plugging and unplugging the tv.
I would assume that my screen would have to work in order to access the reset functions, am I correct?

Does it kinda sound like a fly buzzing quickly when you turn it on? Because my TV is doing that now.
I unplugged and it didn't work...I used different hdmi cards didn't work...unfortunately I'm unable to bring up settings menu...now what?

Turned it off waited- when I turned it back on there was an instant "zip" noise and picture went off again..

My RCA 42 inch 1080p that i had for years was fine last night then the screen wouldn’t turn on now. I can hear sound now tho.
