you know das i love that game. and its really gettin better. so nice to see my favourite fantasy4x rise again thanks to slitherine
Game is getting & better & better; thanks for the update.
Yes. I agree 100%.
Agree it is amazing and getting even better (I am a beta tester)@@DasTactic
For those who worry about what Das says; he's totally right, the game is almost exactly the same as the original ruleset.
The most significant change (besides the graphics update) is that the map is hex-based now instead of grid-based.
My only beef is that the graphics get a little busy; I would have appreciated them having some sort of classic graphics mode.
I was enjoying this game quite a bit and then AOW4 came out and commander all my attention. Might have to give this DLC a try and get back into it.
I preferred the goblin race from the free update but I'm still glad to have the Soultrapped and enjoyed playing them. The additional options increase the strategies to use and counter which is what this game is amazing at. I love the asymmetric races and playstyles. Adding a non-mage is an interesting option, I haven't tried it yet but can see it being fun. I'll never not love the "Yeet" artillery.
The new faction is different again and I'm glad it has some pro's and con's. I think the overall balance has been great with these recent additions.
So hyped when this game gets more content.
One more paid DLC after this to go... Hope they add even more after this

Hope for a mummy egyptian style faction. Some mummy cats, some mummy crocodiles, some mummy priests and soldiers, etc.
They missed an opportunity here to make the Soultrapped MoM's version of the Silicoids... They should have made them not need food!
It's also really annoying that your troops cannot move through your own cities on the world map, especially long term.
Do note the version he is playing is not the latest. The newest one offers more settings like setting minimum distance between cities , setting pop growth speed , steam workshop support and more.
What I found is, that in order to get more heroes, you really need to have big gold reserve you are not spending, and then only at specific turns in game there is chance to get heroes based on this.
This was at least true with base game with first free expansion.
Right you need minimal amount of gold to even hire heros
I heard some reviewers recommended against buying the base game because it had some problems and bugs. Anyone find that it works better now? Assuming they were right, that is. Thanks!
I have been wondering which one I should get Age of Wonders 4 or this one. They seem a lot alike
They do a similar thing in different ways. AoW4 lets you choose how to distinguish your faction with all sorts of factors but some feel like that makes everything feel the same. MoM races however are always the same - you won't have angelic or demonic dwarves, they'll just be Dwarves - but each race is decidedly different from each other race. I find the pacing and depth of MoM better than that of AoW4 but it will deffo be personal preference as they're both great.
@IanGerritsen answered this very well. :)
@@IanGerritsengreat reply thank you!
@@IanGerritsen Good answer. I agree. Both are different games. I prefer MoM!
Didn't quite like this soul trapped cyborg thematic, but it's great they are updating and puting more content in this game, hope to see more in the future, this game is overall great and very worth the investment.
Thank you for informative video about MoM dlc and general situation with the series. I believe 4 ai players is kinda low for me... and i really want caster of magic integration as fast as possible to spice up things a little bit.
They really should add Caster of Magic content.
Someone should try to mod some of it in.
Because i still have fond memories of playing this title i immidiately noticed that the date you quoted is wrong, it was 1985 this was originally a c64 mastertronic? i believe release 1994 would of been the psx 1, only game that came out for the playstation which was remotely similar to this that i played was the unholy war
i don't understand why add in bad new features as mandatory hexes (if you grown up with civ1 too you are much more used to squares). and not taking good new features as more then 4 players ... (their "argument" is not convincing, it smells more laziness to optimize then a true reason)
More like resource priority. Muha is a very small team. Maybe if it sells enough
Still only 4 AI wizards... I'm not a purist. Give me more AI opponents.
Yeah im not a fan of restricting gameplay (or mechanics, ui design etc) in favor of keeping an old game "pure".
When it was due to hardware limitations at the time, it should not be something that is left "unfixed".
Caster of Magic seemed to work fine with more.
I've read a little of what Muha has said about this and it's honestly a head-scratcher. I've done a little AI/Decision Tree coding myself and I know that the more AI players you have, the processing increases exponentially (at least mine does), but it's still a drop in the bucket compared to everything else the computer has to do to run. Plus there are many other factors that similarly balloon AI logic time in a game (unit count, movement, anything that becomes as "option"). If having 8 AI players takes a long time I'd still like the option to decide for myself how many I want in my game. I mean Shadow Empire turns took forever but I still managed.
This *one thing* is the only reason I haven't picked up the game already. If anything, the direction this expansion has taken the game has dissuaded me more against getting it. But at least I can disable it, so really it's back down to the AI player count thing for me.
@@WadeStar Pretty sure is more a resource priority issue, Muha is a small team. I wouldn't mind >4 AI too, and I don't think it's totally off the table. But it needs to sell enough......
Too bad the AI of the computer in this game is a total joke. Terrible at naval combat and it leaves its cities woefully under defended.
this paper looking MoM is bad, The Original master of magic is much better, and i love the old graphics!
Really? Still 4 players only? Boring ...
Disagree.
