Seriously James I bought this exact same style some 3-4 years ago. Not sure it’s from the same manufacturer but it’s exactly the same! It’s actually a very good wear, very reliable & accurate. 👍🏼😎

It sounds like they cut the stem a fraction short and the movement is hopeless, add in the mineral crystal and I think this is worth avoiding. Good review as always 👍

The type of watches that this one homages are harder to search than any other I've shopped for. I'm not looking for a clone or counterfeit just a good quality watch in this style.
It is hard. I struggled too.
Great review James! My sweet spot for watches is 38-39 mm, 40 if it's a diver. If I wore this watch in the ocean, I'd go straight to the bottom. I realize it's a homage, but at a smaller size it would be more wearable for me. I totally agree with everything you pointed out as the negatives. A pre-owned 40mm PAM00048 is the way to go if you've got a medium sized wrist (and have the money of course).
I’ve been looking at the pam00050.
Great video, done the same myself, bought hommages of my grails, get the feel, look and fit. Might never get my grails, but enjoying wearing the hommages.
It is a great way to get a feel for a watch. As you say. Sometimes you then don’t need to spend the extra money.

I have always liked the look of Panerai I know I don't have the wrists for one but you were close to pulling it off James. Shame about that movement.
It was great to have some time with this style.
If you like the style, get the 40mm Panerai, its amazing!

Hi james this is a really good way to get hands on with a watch to see how the dimensions work with your wrist size .I no you prefer the 36-40mm range but I do think you could probably get away with 43mm max if this watch was 50mm between the lugs you'd get away with it. Size of a watch is a bit of a head think sometimes it just takes time to get used to it. I'm trying to convince myself to start buying smaller watches (because the manufacturers are no tending to make them smaller so they can be unisex watches) but I have a 8 1/2 inch wrist size and I think my sweet spot is between 42-45mm but I really want to like 40mm because it opens a whole New world of watches what do you think thanks John.

The Luminor Base 44 is the way to go. Lose the cyclops ruining the face and get it on an emblazoned rubber strap to reduce weight and increase comfort

I don't like this at all, but as we watch enthusiasts say, "wear what you like."
Does the internal cyclops do anything? Looks weak. (Check out the Muhle Glashutte SAR Rescue Timer for an internal cyclops... my grail watch)
The all over polishing makes it look like chromed over plastic.
Funny how a 43 - 44mm watch is now perceived as too big. My Citizen Dive watch is 44 and it's perfect. That lug to lug however... too big for your wrist.
Good to try it (homage) before you buy it (the original... shhh Panerai).

Interesting...don't think I've seen an internal cyclops before. I'd probably prefer it as I too am not a fan of the ugly cyclops on many watches. Nice work James 👍🙂🇦🇺

I love panerai and hope to have one some day. I wonder whether you'd prefer the ones with the sculpted 'fiddy-style' cases, rather than the thick 'tuna can' cases, like the one you're reviewing. Size looks fine on you.

It’s a biggins. It’s not a bad looking watch but, it might be a bit big for me. It looks smaller than it’s dimensions on camera.
It definitely is a large one
The Spinnaker Hull have the same case design in a more wearable dimension

Get a pam super rep for a bit more. I have the pam089 Ti from h-fac, long discontinued, but there's many excellent pam reps available. Not worth buying in gen

Hmm... ugliest Panerai clone ever! And why would you clone a dive watch and give it no water resistance??Also, I think Marina Militaire is a trademark, which makes this watch illegal. But I may be mistaken...
Not that I am aware of.
It has worked well for me in this case. Shown me not to spend the money on the original.

James, I’m afraid this one is more of a counterfeit than a Homage / Clomage. Which is probably why the link doesn’t work nor is their AliExpress Shop running. Anyway. Just a FYI.
It’s definitely one of those very close homages that I don’t normally buy.
But compared to the original the text on the dial is different and obviously it is missing the Panerai name.
The store is still active. This one has just sold out.

This is more of a clomage and not a homage
It has been great to get a feel for this style without spending the $6K.
